I feel like I’m suffocating I can’t breathe. I cough and gasp but it’s getting worse. Daddy rushes into my room . He’s also coughing really bad . He lifts me off the bed and rushes to the front door. I can barely see with all the black smoke. Daddy places me on the ground and says “Del daddy has to go back in and get mommy. Stay right here daddy called for help.” He rushes back in our burning house. It feels like everything is frozen. Only the flames from our home are moving. My heart beats so loud it’s all I can hear in that moment. After what feels like forever I hear faint sirens in the distance but they are becoming louder as the fire trucks get closer. I feel a small amount of relief but it doesn’t last long. As the fire fighters arrive I hear a boom . The only home I’ve ever known starts to fall in on itself. I can’t hold back my sobs. I feel someone lift me up but all I can focus on is my home. I’m start gasping for air . As my vision fades out I cry out for my parents . I’m shaking. I hear someone saying my name . Dal! Dal! Dal! I open my eyes panting for air. Will has his arms around me. My face is soaked. My hair is stuck to my face and neck. I wipe my red hair from my face and try to catch my breath. “Del you were dreaming of your parents again.” Will says. Yes, I say trying to hold back a sob. “It’s okay Del I’m here. I’ll always be here.” Will says. I love you will. Thank you. “Always kid, go take a shower I will make us breakfast. You have school.” Will says. Will let’s me go and heads down stairs to the kitchen. I grab a black cropped tee, my black ripped skinny jeans, and some under garments. I jump in the shower and wash up. Loving my new vanilla scented body wash. When I’m done I get out and wrap my self in a towel. I brush my teeth and then brush my wet hair. After I’m done blow drying my hair. I grab a pair of socks, black converse, and pair with my favorite leather jacket. Apply my deodorant and some lip balm and head down stairs to eat with Will. Once we are finished I grab my book bag and Will brings me to school. Will stops in front of Shallowater high and it takes a minute to convince my self to get out the car.
