Outside was an unexpected gift of rain. Dark clouds were hovering around in the sky. They hid the stars with darkness all around. A hurricane is yet to arrive but it will arrive soon. Rain droplets pinging angrily against the window while the sky shows silver lines of lighting with the rumbling sound of thunder.

‘Dangerous but yet attractive’ A woman who was watching the rain thought. She was looking at the heavy rain through the window. She loved the rain and at the same time, she hated it. The rain reminds her of a certain someone, someone she loved. Her lips slowly curled upwards to a smile as she remembered the past, her smile filled with both pain and love. Memories suppressed her mind easily.

Her mind filled with someone’s voice and one certain promise and that promise dragged her to the past of twenty-six years ago. The past she loved and always wanted to live in...

“Lucy, wake up. You have to go to university” Luciana’s mom shouted and as she knocked against Lucy’s room door.

“Waking up mom. Why shouting? Urghh” Luciana spoke with her sleepy voice and got up from the bed. It was the most hateful thing to her. Waking up in the morning felt like someone was trying to kill her.

Luciana went into the washroom and showered and came out of it as she started to get ready. She was the most gorgeous and simple girl in her university but stubborn. She quickly changed into a comfortable dark blue short frock with thin straps and the frock was above a few inches from her knees. After wearing her clothes she grabbed her bag and wore her ankle boots and ran out of her room while tying her hair to a low ponytail.

“Good morning princess” as soon as she entered the dining hall, her father smiled at her brightly.

“Good morning dad” She kissed her dad’s cheek and sat beside him. Luciana looked around the dining hall and sighed.

“Dad, why are they guarding here too? It’s inside of the house and aren’t they hungry?” Luciana’s father sighed and shook his head.

“It’s for our safety. Eat your meal quickly princess” He let out a smile and said as Lucinda nodded at him. Then Luciana looked at her mother who was looking at her with a smile and she knew her mother was again smiling at her dumb questions.

“President, general Henry Knight is here” A guard came and greeted Luciana’s father and informed him of the message.

“That’s great. Tell him to come and have breakfast with us” Luciana’s father said as the guard nodded at him and left the dining hall.

“Lucy, we have to attend a function in the evening. You can come with us right?” Luciana’s father said while looking at his daughter. Lucy looked at his father and shook her head.

“No. I can’t. I have works” She forcefully smiled at her father because she was lying. She hated functions and those kinds of things.

“We know you’re lying Lucy but it’s okay” Luciana’s mother spoke with a sigh and shook her head. Luciana looked at her parents and smiled brightly at them because they knew her well.

“President…” A man’s voice was heard and Luciana looked at him and saw their old general was there. Luciana smiled brightly at him and giggled because she really liked his kindness he had towards her. He even trained her how to ride a horse.

“Take seat Henry. Let’s have breakfast with us” Luciana’s father gently smiled at the man and said as Henry nodded and took a seat a few chairs away from Luciana.

“Is everything ready Henry?” Luciana’s father asked as Henry nodded at him with a smile.

“Yes president, everything is ready.” Luciana was confused about their conversation but she didn’t want to involve adults’ talks.

“How’s Zane? It’s been years since I last saw him” Luciana’s mother spoke and Lucinda quickly looked at her mother because she had never heard that name. Zane? Who the hell?

“He’s good madam, You’ll see him tonight” Henry smiled and looked at Luciana’s mother and then his eyes fell on Luciana and he knew what she was thinking.

“Zane is my son, princess Lucy” As soon as Henry said that Luciana blushed. She quickly stood up from the chair.

“Don’t call me that, you always do it and embarrass me. I’m going” With that Luciana ran out of the dining hall. She doesn’t know but when Henry calls her princess Lucy she feels embarrassed. She knew he was teasing her like her father but she was shy.

Without caring anything Luciana asked her chauffeur to take her to the university.

“Lucy, here you are” As soon as she entered university her best friend Lina shouted and everyone heard her dumb voice. Lucy pressed her lips together and walked towards her. Lina was the vice president’s daughter and both Lina and Lucy have been best friends since they were kids.

“Why are you shouting Lina?” She frowned at Lina and sighed.

“You didn’t see me so I called you” Lina let out an idiotic smile and explained herself to Luciana.

“Great” Lucy rolled her eyes and walked past Lina and opened her locker.

“Hey, I got some nice news. You know Zane Knight is back after his ten years of training” Luciana stopped what she was doing and looked at Lina. Zane? Isn’t that the name her mom mentioned today?

“Uncle Henry’s son?” Lucy asked as Lina nodded her head like a crazy woman.

“They say he’s so handsome. They say women go crazy for him. They say he’s strong and he’s the best” Lucy was annoyed by Lina’s speech.

“Stop it Lina. Who said those things? Who are they?” Suddenly Lina looked at Lucy and shook her head with a smile.

“I don’t know and I don’t care. I don’t want a soldier as my boyfriend” With that Lina grabbed Lucy from her hand and went to their class.

“Anyways Lucy, I’m going to the function tonight. Today Zane is taking the position as the new general. I want to see him” Lina said while tapping the desk. Suddenly a possessive feeling surged into Lucy’s mind and she didn’t want Lina to see Zane but she stayed without speaking.

“Lucy, look at him. So handsome” Lucy looked at and saw Lina’s eyes were sparkling and she followed Lina’s gaze and looked at the boy who was sitting in the corner of the class. Blonde hair and blue eyes but Luciana didn’t find him interesting.

“Good for you.” She pinched Lina’s hand and said. Then she focused on the lesson.

After her lectures were finished she quickly came home and decided to go to the function with her parents. She jogged towards her parents’ room and knocked on the door.

“Lucy, come in baby” Her mother opened the door and kissed Luciana’s cheek.

“Mom, I’m going to the function with you. When are we leaving and what should I wear?” Luciana’s mother watched her daughter for a while and smiled.

“We will leave at five thirty in the evening. We should stay there at six” Luciana’s mother said as she looked at her daughter’s impatience.

“Why do you want to go suddenly?” Luciana immediately looked at her mother and smiled sweetly.

“Lina is also coming, that's why” She ran out of her parent’s room. Of course Lina was not the reason. She just wanted to see Zane Knight. That’s why she decided to go.

“Wear something you like” Luciana heard her mother’s voice behind her and she ran to her room without stopping.

She entered the room and started to pick up a dress for tonight. Finally she found a dress that her father bought for her a few months ago and she hasn’t even unpacked it. She saw it was a rose pink color sheer panel strappy frock that reached to her mid thighs. After finding the dress Luciana went into the washroom and took a shower. Then as she came out she saw the time and it was almost five in the evening.
