Colt! Colt! His mother yelled. Colt lost in thought and in a haze answered back,” yes mom”? “Why are you just sitting around are you going to be a loser you’re whole life”, she asked. Colt just remained silent not knowing how to answer. Colt was a young man in his early 20s and not really going anywhere. A fit and handsome young man with kind eyes but a firey rage burning in his heart. Tattoos covered his chest left arm and legs expressing himself but to his memories of who he is. His potential was endless but lacked the direction with falling in the daily drudgery. He also used marijuana on a daily basis not as an addiction, but a crutch not knowing better. Colt thought to himself, “ I have to do something, I’m starting to spiral out of control”, he thought to himself. Working a job that would lead him to nowhere so he searched, not only for adventure but love. Not the kind you’re thinking of but a joy to his peace and calm to his rage. He had a son to that was still an infant and knew drugs and this dead end lifestyle would not only lead him nowhere but be a terrible role model. His ex wasn’t the best person but a great mother. The love wasn’t there but the co-parenting and civility was. He wanted to be better and support his son but he knew that meant he couldn’t be with him for now. Colt went on day by day until he thought,” what about the military”? Always having a sense of being an outcast could be a good place to start over, his nationalism was was there and always thought about it. When colt has something on his head he stuck with it until the end which was a good quality to have especially in the service. So he made his way to the local recruiting station and thought of the marines. His grandfather served in WWII and made it to staff sergeant so he thought he’d follow in his foot steps. His other grandfather was in the navy but being on a boat didn’t really seem appealing to him. As soon as he entered the marines looked at him and thought,” a potential recruit”? Colt went over and asked what was it like and how could he get in or could he even? The recruiter looked at him and said, “ you’re not able to join look at all of those tattoos you have”! Colt thought to himself, ” all of them have tattoos to, but I can’t join”. The recruiter told him new policy says no tattoos but he could try the Army, feeling unwanted and upset he couldn’t join stepped outside to think. Colt knew in his heart he wanted to serve but had to get to work so he went on about his day. While at work he met this beautiful girl Jane who wouldn’t give him the time of day. Jane was a thin tiny girl with beautiful long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She wasn’t so small she didn’t have curves, she was attractive but her small frame others didn’t really look. Colt knew she was something special so he took a lot of time at work to try and get to know her. After a few weeks had passed colt was working late, thinking he was the only one there he was going to lock up for the day and head out. Jane rushed by and said, “wait for me I’m still here to”! She ran past colt and went out to the parking lot. Colt forgot his phone on the desk so went back in to retrieve it and when he locked the door he heard a scream. “Hey stop! Get away from me” the sounds of struggling took colt by surprise but he rushed over to see what happened. Jane was being attacked, a tall man in dark clothing was trying to rob her! Colt quickly rushed over and grabbed the man by his collar and swung him around to the ground. The man pulled out a knife and cut colts arm but it just threw colt into a rage. Not thinking he grabbed the mans wrist and wrenched backward until the knife flew and he broke his wrist, the man screamed out in pain. Jane called the police and within a few minutes a police car came screaming around the corner. Colt was taken down by the police but Jane screamed out ,” no! Not him the guy in the dark clothing”! The cops got off him and put the man in hand cuffs. After giving a report to the police colt went to check on Jane, “are you alright?” He said. “Yes I’m fine” Jane said with sincerity. “That man came out of nowhere but you saved me”! Colt said “ I’m glad you’re alright let me walk you to your car”. When they got to her car colt noticed that the knife that flew earlier went straight into her tire and fattened it. “Jane do you have a spare”? He asked as he pulled the knife out. “No this is an old car it doesn’t have a spare” she exclaimed. “Fine then I’ll take you home you can get your car tomorrow” colt said. Jane could only nod and follow colt to his truck. She was so exhausted that when she got in colts truck she only felt comfortable and fell asleep. Colt remained quite until he pulled up to her house and gently woke her up. When she felt him warm hand on her gently caressing her hair her eyes opened and let out a big yawn. Colt couldn’t contain himself so he let out a chuckle which immediately woke Jane up and she felt embarrassed. “Don’t be embarrassed Jane that was a difficult thing to go through, no surprise you were so tired you fell asleep don’t worry about it” he said in a gentle tone. Jane then felt better and said “thank you again for saving me, if you weren’t there I don’t know what would have happened”. She leaned in and kissed his cheek and both of their faces turned bright red! “You’re welcome” he studdered. Jane only chuckled and got out of the truck and walked inside. On the drive home colt couldn’t stop thinking about Jane, not only that he couldn’t believe he stepped in and saved her without thinking! The rage in his heart left for the first time in a long time and colt felt calm. When he got home he laid in bed and fell right asleep. The next morning he got up early to go to work and when he got there Jane was there waiting for him. Dressed so beautifully he couldn’t take his eyes off her, as soon as she saw him looking at her they both blushed until they heard someone say “colt come over here and help me out”. After coming to his senses, colt rushed over and helped. Colt found himself working steadily throughout the day and finally got a break so he went outside to smoke. While finally relaxing Jane peered around the corner and came out. “Colt!” She yelled colt turned around and saw Jane coming to him “hey how are you Jane? I meant to talk to you earlier but I got busy” he said. “ I’m fine thank you I still can’t believe that happened last night” she said. “Yeah it was eventful that’s for sure” colt said. “By the way did you get your tire fixed, if not I can take you to go get a new tire and put it on for you if you want”? “Really thank you you’ve helped me so much already” she said with a gracious tone. “I don’t mind helping” he said. Colt and Jane finished up at work and he took her to get a new tire. After replacing it Jane asked, “ colt you’ve done so much for me already I want to repay you”. “That’s not necessary” colt said. Colt didn’t really know what to say around Jane, just being around her made him nervous. “Colt why don’t we go have a drink tonight” Jane said with enthusiasm! “Yeah that sounds nice do you want me to pick you up” colt questioned? “ like a date colt, are you asking me out” she said curiously. Colt just mumbled and couldn’t find the words so Jane said “ pick me up at 8 tonight”. After she walked off she glanced back and flashed a smile while colt just stood there not knowing what happened. Was she starting to like him, he thought to himself. Later on colt was home and got ready to pick up Jane. Earlier he cleaned out his truck, combed his hair and put on a nice shirt eagerly waiting to go out with Jane. He finished cleaning up and went off to pick up some flowers and thought,” she said it’s a date right I should get her flowers”. Colt hasn’t been on a date in so long but he wasn’t going to let it bother him he was going to be himself. Heading over to Janes house he got the flowers in his hand and opened the truck door. When he got out he took a deep breath and walked up to the door, he knocked and waited for a moment. The outside light turned on and he heard janes voice said “ just a moment”. Colts heart was beating really fast, “why am I so nervous” he thought. Colt heard the door unlocked and slowly it opened. The bright lights on the inside of the house blinded colt for a moment but then he saw her.
