Fathi's POV:

"Fathi, you asshole! Where the hell is my Puma Slide?" Nicholi yelled from behind the door while still kicking it with force trying to break it down.

A little startled by the abrupt voice and sound of kicking on the door by Nicholi, I stuffed the almost new but old watch back into the wooden box in a hurry and then stashed it into the little opening under my bed and hurriedly trying to hide it, covered it with one of my old tattered clothes.

I had barely straightened myself from under the bed when the wooden door was kicked open by Nicholi. He rushed in hurriedly in a giffy.

"How may I help you young master Nicholi?" I asked neither, being humble or pushy as I was a little bit agitated at the fact that he had just barged into my room like that. He always wanted to make use of the fact that I work for them and trample on me.

"You assh*le! Where is my puma slide that I usually wear?" He asked in a harsh tone, grabbing me by the collar and glaring at me. "I bet you got itchy fingers. Where is my puma slide at? I can't find it and I would not be surprised if you stole it." He spat mercilessly.

"Young master Nicholi, I did not take any thing from your room. That is a false accusation and you can't just accuse me easily like that without any evidence." I replied patiently.

"You son of a b*tch! How dare you talk back to me like that? You want evidence? Fine. I will find that now." Nicholi spat and shoved me backwards. He then in turn started searching my room.

My room had a musty odor, evocative of my parents’ house. The type that makes you feel safe and cozy. It was lit dimly by a tall lamp in the corner with a green lamp shade decorated with light and undulating patterns with nothing special all but lost under a thick coat of dust.

There was a drab, vile, green wallpaper, dark green contrasting curtains; a wide, and thin rug with tassels on. A wooden rocking chair also sat in the corner, furnished with an old, dilapidated cushion. A small, coal fireplace graced one wall and beneath it was a white, marble mantelpiece. On top of the mantelpiece danced old but unwanted porcelain figurines and ornaments.

On the walls hung portraits of long forgotten people, who looked about the room with a proprietorial air. There was a sofa against one wall, a bland, beige coloured lump, which looked as if it would be itchy if you sat on it. A pink doll’s house was pushed up against a wall and enveloped in dust. It looked sad and lonely, as if it knew it would never be played with again. Next to it sat a hobby horse with chewed looking ears, missing its rocker.

Nicholi turned the room upside down in search of his puma slide. I watched as he took turns in breaking and turning everything he could get his hand on into a mess. In a few minutes, everything in the room was scattered. The wooden rocking chair was kicked by him. What was worse, I had to watch him turn the room upside down. It was more like he was taking this opportunity to vent all the hatred he had had for me.

I tried to keep my face expressionless as I stared at him turning my room into a whole total mess but resentment gripped my heart and seeped into my eyes. I clenched my fists to suppress my anger and ignored it . After a few more minutes of watching him knock my things onto the ground, I couldn't bear it anymore.

"Stop! What do you think you are doing? I didn't steal anything. Why are you doing this?" I shouted coldly.

"Why am I doing this? It's simple. I am the young master of this house, whiles you are but just a slave. A piece of garbage abandoned by others and also a thief!"Nicholi spat back and snickered at me.

"You are not the young master of this house. You are nothing but an adopted child of the family." I replied back fiercely.

Before the death of his parents, Nicholi's parents had been close with the Xavier family. That was the reason why the Xavier family had taken Nicholi in. In terms of bloodline, I was of a much noble family bloodline than Nicholi. I really don't know what I have done to offend him. From the beginning, he had always disliked me both in public and private.

The slightest chance he would get, he would wanna disgrace me and speak ill about my family and how I am nothing but a slave.

At this time, he bent down and saw the little opening from under the bed. Although I had covered it, it wasn't really closed so the opening was showing. He pushed away the old tattered cloth on the opening with his feet.

"No!" I shouted and anxiously walked forward hurriedly to grab the wooden box from him. But just as I was about to touch the wooden box, Nicholi turned and tripped me. Causing me to fall. Hitting my head on the hard floor. He then in turn stepped on the back of my hand. His shoe dug into my skin, drawing blood. I couldn't help but wince in pain.

"You assh*le! What's with the sudden rush? What is in this little shabby box that got you caring so much? You might be hiding something you stole in it." Nicholi said viciously.

Nicholi then opened the wooden box. Only for him to be astonished at what he saw. It was a Patek Phillipe watch. The most expensive of them all.

I tried getting back up from the ground but Nicholi drove his shoes back harder into the back of my hand, pinning me back down a little harder.

I was afraid that if I got up abruptly, I might end up tearing my skin. The pain was too much to bear but compared to the pain I was feeling in my heart, the physical pain was nothing really.
