I walk into the meeting room to see Riley filling some pieces of paper out, we've just finished a case and it was his turn to do the paper work. We've been partners since we started working for the Alliance 4 years ago, but were best friends since we both arrived here around 11 years now. He looks up smiling sliding a piece of paper over to me with a pen, the pen nearly rolling on the floor.

"You need to sign there" he says quickly looking back towards the papers he was filling out, probably wanting to get out the way, the paperwork always takes forever.

I smile signing the paper sliding it back over, as I turn the doors open and in walks Morgan, our boss, holding a file in his hand.

"I've heard you've finished the Anderson case" he smiles as Riley hands him the completed file, Morgan takes it but swaps it with the one in his hands, that was slick.

"I have another one for you to sink your claws in" he smiles while reading the file we gave him, Riley opens the file but sighs throwing it on the table annoyed, I guess he didn't like it.

I walk over to read it myself, when you're given a file they don't give you all the information. You basically have to piece it all together like a jigsaw, Riley likes to say the people that make the file have all the information but they just wanna make us work harder. This one was about a Beta called Lukas, now I know why Riley's annoyed.

"Why do we always get stuck with the Alpha's and Beta's?" He asks annoyed crossing his arms, Morgan just laughs shaking his head as he went, which Riley didn't like.

Morgan doesn't understand that all the Alpha's and Beta's treat us like we're under them, they do this because all they see when they look at Riley and me are humans. If only they knew the real reason for us being humans, we weren't born humans but werewolves. Some bad people did some bad things to us turning us into humans, but they don't see it that way unfortunately, nobody does.

"Because I know you two are the best people for the job, just deal with the threats then you can leave, it's an open and close case "Morgan says throwing his arms to the side, while Riley still shakes his head walking around the room, he really wasn't happy.

"We'll go right there and have a chat with him" I smile standing up, which causes Riley to look over at me throwing his hands in the air, we've always dreamt of getting to be senior field agents, refusing jobs isn't gonna get us there.

"See that's the kind of attitude I want, thank you Taylor, now I better get going good luck" he smiles walking out happily, pleased that it had gone his way, but let's be honest, he knew we'd agree to go.

"He always does this, leaves us with the annoying ones and you always agree to them" Riley grumbles picking up the case file looking through it angrily, I knew the anger wouldn't last long though.

"Let's just go and talk to the Beta, Morgan said it's a open and close case, just get it over with" I tell him grabbing my coat walking towards the door, he doesn't move but once I turn the corner he soon appears next to me.

"It's lucky you're like a sister or we'd be having a major falling out" is all he says as we walk out the doors towards the car, I told you the anger wouldn't last long.

It doesn't take us long to arrive at the Midnight Pack, as we begin to pull into the pack a weird feeling takes over my body. I've never felt anything like this before, it was like my body was drawn to this place for some reason. A huge building, which I'm guessing is the pack house comes into view. A buff guy walks out with his arms crossed, he didn't look to happy to see us.

"He looks annoyed without us having to even talk to him, in reality he needs us here way more than we need to be here" Riley mutters saying exactly what I thought he would, I laugh reaching into the back to get the file hoping none of the papers fall out, that wouldn't be a good start to this whole conversation.

"I'd put the file in your bag, he might get annoyed if one of the pack members see it, it'll damage his gigantic ego" Riley says getting out the car, this once again makes me laugh but I do slip the file into my bag concealing the embarrassment the Beta might feel.

"I'm guessing you're from the Alliance, follow me" the dude on the steps growls out, Riley and I just stare at each other before following him in and towards an office.

"The Alpha couldn't make it" he says opening the door letting us walk in, when he closes the door it's done unnecessarily hard behind us, I think he was trying to act intimidating but it wasn't working, we've seen tougher guys than him.

"It's not the Alpha we're after it's you, now we need to ask you some questions about the threats you've been receiving" I try to say but he just laughs cutting me off, Riley tenses beside me staring up at the guy, I knew he wanted to punch him.

I shake my head slightly at him knowing we didn't need to start a war, between the alliance and this place. But the weird feeling that I felt outside starts to make a reappearance, once again it wasn't a bad feeling but one that I couldn't quite describe. It was as though, something in my body knew what was gonna happen but couldn't tell me, I know that makes zero sense!

"I didn't want or ask for a bunch of humans to come here, how are you actually meant to help when you're weaker than everyone here?" He asks smugly which for some reason just got me so mad, I stood up from my seat placing my hands on the desk he was sitting at, to say he was shocked was a huge understatement.

"Well, if you're so tough we'll leave and wait until someone attacks you, that'll make our job at catching the people easier, trust me you aren't as tough as you think you are, there's some men out there which will eat you alive, who do you think turned us into humans?" I ask looking the disrespectful dude right in the eyes, he raises an eyebrow at me trying to keep the tough guy act up "we haven't always been humans we were born a werewolves just like you, but we got attacked by some bad people who killed our wolves. The only reason we're here right now is because they took pity on us as we were children, I don't know if they'll spare your life like they did ours, but if you feel like you can handle it, carry on" I say holding my arms up walking backwards, Riley also gets out of his chair to add effect, but I knew he actually wanted to leave him.

"Okay fine, don't leave" he says getting up from the chair so quickly it nearly fell over, I smile turning around sitting back on the chair I was once on, Riley reluctantly sat back down on his.

"Now tell us about the threats but show us one ounce of disrespect, we're leaving" I tell him with a pointed look, I love the power I had, is that bad?

He just nods as I go in my bag taking the case file out, Riley passes a notepad and pen basically telling me I had to do the work, he really wasn't in the mood for this. I go to ask the first question, but the door to the side opens and gets my full attention. In walks an even bigger dude wearing a black suit, he was so muscular that I wondered how he even managed to fit through the door he just entered. My eyes immediately, go to his very good looking face, but once our eyes locked, it's like the whole world fizzled away.

"Mine" he quietly mutters under his breath, that being the thing that snaps me out of whatever trance he somehow put me in.

I begin to shift in my seat uncomfortably, his eyes just burning holes as I sat there. This cannot be happening, what I think just happened better not have just happened. Riley notices my change in mood and looks over, he sends me a concerned look which I don't answer to.

"This is the Alpha, I thought you couldn't make it?" Lukas asks the guy, the Alpha still refused to look away from me, but I was definitely avoiding eye contact with him and focused on the floor.

"The meeting got called off until next week, I'm Toby, the Alpha of the Midnight Pack" he says introducing himself, his voice sends intense shivers to run down my body and all the way to my toes, oh no it's happened!

I remove my eyes from the floor to look at Riley, he was still staring at me fully concerned and worried. I shake my head slightly which told him, he needed to take the reigns to this conversation.

"You were about to tell us about the threats" Riley says talking for the first time, hopefully speeding up this process so I can leave and get back to my normal life, away from Toby!

"Well I've been getting threats from this guy for a few weeks now, at first I thought it was just the normal threats that comes with being Beta, until the threats started to turn well.....disgusting" he says which does make me look up slightly than look to Riley, who I could tell by his face, was thinking the exact same thing.

"What do you mean by disgusting?" I ask finally speaking since Toby walked in, who I made sure I avoided eye contact with, just smile and wave.

"He once sent me a head with a note hanging out the mouth" he says in a disgust way, my whole body freezes where I end up dropping the pen that lands with a smack on the floor "The way you're reacting is telling me you've dealt with this guy before" he says pointing at us, at least he was right about something in this whole conversation.

I quickly pull another file out the bag flipping through the photos, I was hoping this was some misunderstanding or some copycat has well, copied the way one person does things. I managed to find the photo I was after, I didn't know why I kept this photo in my bag for so long anyways.

"Is there something like a symbol that is left on everything he sends you?" I ask still holding the photo up to my chest, he thinks for a second but quickly nods pulling his phone out.

"It's like a wolf and a dagger" he explains handing the phone to me, I place the phone and the picture I got out the file next to each other, they were identical, unfortunately.

"I'll ring Morgan" is all I say getting up pulling my phone out, I open the door leaving Riley to answer some of Lukas's worried questions.

"Hey Taylor, have you finished with the case?"he asks on the other end, but I knew what I was about to say, would change his tone dramatically.

"We're still here but we've ran into an issue, the threats he's getting are from Richard" I say looking back at the guys in the room, this was about to take a turn no one was expecting.

Poor guy.
