  THE DAY OF THE MASSACRE.

  Luna's fate was fixed.

At the age of nineteen, she was going to marry Calix, the strongest alpha of their pack.

Calix was every omega's dream. He was gorgeous. His unruly blond hair complemented his emerald eyes—a sign that he had killed dozens of people, maybe even more.

You see, this was how the world of the wolves worked. Alphas were naturally born with golden eyes. This was how they were to be distinguished from the betas and omegas.

Betas had brown eyes. Omegas, on the other hand, had blueberry eyes. However there was someone who was different from the pack.

  She was called the Luna.

Luna had silver white hair and purple eyes. Legends said that only one Luna was born every century, similar to an enchantress—a powerful witch who could reverse any spell, but this was a different story.

Luna was a wolf, not a witch. She was born to marry the new strongest alpha, also known as the prince. This prince would replace the King who was now old.

The prince was chosen based on his skill and not on hereditary monarchy. It didn't matter that the king and the new prince were not related by blood.

The only qualification should be their ability to take down everyone and everything.

When a wolf, regardless of being an alpha, beta, or omega, killed other wolves or humans, their eyes changed color.

It turned red when they had killed one to eleven people. It would then turn emerald when they ended twelve or more lives.

Luna wasn't supposed to kill or harm anybody. She must remain pure. She would be the next queen after all. Luna was going to compensate for all the killings the strongest alpha had done.

When Luna broke this rule, she would be executed.

  It couldn't happen.

Luna loved her life. She wanted to live. She wanted to bear children. She wanted to see the future of the world.

But how could this happen now that almost two decades after her birth, Luna ended up doing what she was not bound to do?

"No..." Luna shook her head violently, tears were cascading down her rosy cheeks.

There was blood in her hands.

She couldn't figure out whom it belonged to.

Fifteen dead bodies were lying on the cold ground of Lacuna Forest.

She thought she could escape. She thought that with her strength, it would be easy to bury all these bodies and blame the massacre on the vampires.

Yes. Vampires. They were the kind of creatures humans and wolves hated the most.

Vampires were also known as the bad ones. They didn't have any mercy. They killed anyone they wanted to, even the innocent ones.

They couldn't control their lust for blood. This being the case, Luna thought of a good plan: she would lie to the wolves.

She would make her pack hate the vampires more.

But there were loopholes in her ploy.

  Her eyes couldn't lie.

"No," she repeated the same line over and over again. This time, it wasn't because she was too shocked to see all the dead bodies.

She was shaking her head now for the reason that she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Luna was staring into the clear pond in the forest. It was a magical pond, it was so clear to the point that she could see her reflection perfectly.

She could see how her purple eyes quickly turned into emerald.

Her purple eyes were the exact reason why other omegas envied her.

Her purple eyes were the reason why her parents loved her more than they loved her siblings.

Her purple eyes were the reason why alphas went crazy over her.

Her purple eyes were her privilege, but it turned into something ordinary—something that would cause her her life.

  Luna's days were counted.

She couldn't be the new queen anymore because she was going to die.
