"Don't you see, my dear, dear, Erina. The game doesn't end until I say so."_Hunter

********************************

To be able to play any sort of board game, you'll need two things. The player and the representative token. In other words - the game piece.

A game piece, an object the player controls according to his liking, his rules. But why won't it? When the game piece, a non-living thing did not have the ability to object.

I gave him names to kill so as not to be killed myself. My hands were stained with blood even though I didn't commit any crime.

At first, the game we started seemed harmless but then he was everywhere, watching me, controlling me till I reached the brink of insanity.

He was the player and I was the game piece in his little game.

*********

Death just signed in.

Unknown POV.

Positioned beside the wall of a blind alleyway, I stood watching, still and silent, like an unseen predator awaiting his prey.

Actually though, I wasn't waiting for my prey, because he had already come to me.

The annoying rat thought he was running away from the cat whereas he was running towards the trap set by the cat.

I watched him struggle against the grip of the other men holding him and sighed. I knew he was unreliable from the start, but at that time I was in need of something from him and now that I have it..

"No! Please don't!" he yelled, wincing as he tried to get up, only to be kicked back down on the concrete floor. "Please."

I smirked at his pleas. Surely he wasn't brainless enough to think we would let him go, right?

"You brought this upon yourself, you know," one of my men said. "So stop your begging, old man."

And with that they began their beatings except for a young lad who didn't seem amused by what was happening. If anything, he seemed bored.

His hands were in his pockets and his gaze was upwards.

I twitched at his behavior. I knew it wasn't his area of interest but I was paying him and so the least he could do was become useful. But I had to admit, he was one of the few men I admired. His eyes always displayed a lack of empathy, they were always cold and void of life. His quiet but clear obsession was what drew me to him.

In any case, I stayed out of the fun, finding it too troublesome to join.

Maybe next time- if there was going to be a next time for the old man- he'd learn to keep his mouth shut.

I merely watched, pleased with the fact that blood had decided to join the show. It dripped from his nose, mouth, left side of his face, dropping to the ground and adding a nice touch to the aroma in the air.

It was then I noticed a slight movement, so faint I could barely detect it.

The others were so out of it to notice but I could feel it. Something or someone was here.

Could it be a cat? A rabbit?

I quickly dismissed the thought and focused on the issue at hand. Having had enough of the show, I snapped my fingers, indicating it was time to end it.

Without warning, one of my men brought out his knife and slashed it against the man's throat. Within a second, his body fell limply on the floor.

A puddle of blood gathered around his lifeless body. My eyes darted to the young lad seeing that his dark eyes were focused on the blood. They twitched from an unreadable emotion.

A gasp.

I knew it. Someone was here. Because that gasp didn't belong to me nor did it belong to any of my men.

Right at that moment, a figure emerged from the shadows and bolted out the alley's exit.

"Shit! She saw us!"

"After her!"

To think the man's voice was loud enough to attract attention. "No," I said for the first time. "Let her be."

"She's gonna tell!"

Oh, would she?

I looked at the lad again, his eyes now focused on the alley's exit. Somehow I could see recognition in his eyes. And knowing who he was, I was sure he had already taken in her features. Hair, face, eyes, height, age, body. He took every note of that because that was his specialty. And that was her mistake - coming here.

I watched the young lad walk away from us and towards the alleyways' exit. His once empty eyes now rapt with attention, as though he had found something finally worth his sick and quiet interest.

I wanted nothing more than for that girl to be silenced for having seen something she shouldn't have, but I would be patient. I would sit and watch in silence and then when the time was right...

The lad stepped out of the alley's exit and took a left turn, the same direction she had fled.

...She would be silenced.

"She won't be telling anyone," I stated, firmly knowing fully well she was going to be taken care of.
