"Do you love him so much that you're willing to divorce me?"

Su Sijin felt a heavy weight in her mind, these words echoing incessantly. She wanted to refute, to state she did not love him and did not want a divorce.

However, she was hopelessly trapped in this oppressive heaviness, unable to fully regain consciousness.

Yet, her senses and hearing seemed extraordinarily alert.

She felt a pair of warm, strong hands gently caressing her face. She sensed the relentless concentration and unwillingness to part in the gaze fixed upon her.

She could hear the whispering conversations between the butler and him, feeling the melancholy in his words.

She urged herself to wake up, to hold on to him.

Within that confined darkness, she struggled.

Jin Liunian looked at the person lying on the bed, her face ghastly pale. Her features were twisted tightly as if enduring tremendous pain.

To him, it seemed this person lying on the bed was willing to stake her life on a gamble of separation. Such a bet was too high, even if he loved her as he loved his own life.

From her perspective, she didn't care; her stubbornness at the cost of her life was forcing him to let go.

The sadness and sorrow on his flawless and handsome face was too heartbreaking for the butler He Bo to see. He lowered his voice, "Young Master, the young mistress is just delirious due to a high fever. You shouldn't blame yourself."

Jin Liunian remained unmoved, attentively caressing Su Sijin's small face, as if wanting to etch all his deep affection in. He moved her sweat-dampened hair to the side of her face.

He murmured almost to himself, like asking He Bo, but also questioning himself, "If I hadn't pushed her every step of the way, she wouldn't have acted impulsively."

He Bo sighed, feeling sorry for the dazed man beside him.

He has been adored since childhood, everything always going smoothly for him. Held on a pedestal by everyone, his power is formidable, and no one dares to speak against him. Yet, such a noble and immaculate man...

Felt unprecedented pain and fear that he had never experienced in his life due to Su Sijin.

He Bo didn't know how to console him, he shifts his gaze to the young lady lying on the bed, his eyes heavy.

Jin Liunian placed a gentle kiss on Su Sijin’s face, his gaze filled with intense emotion. "Sijin," he said, "I promise you, we'll get a divorce."

"Young Master."

He Bo's voice trembled with disbelief and fear.

In these two years, he had witnessed the efforts Jin Liunian made for this marriage and it pained his heart. He always thought, one day the young lady would understand his good intentions.

If the young master let go now, wouldn't he be giving up everything?

Jin Liunian chuckled lightly, his slender fingers tracing along Su Sijin’s delicate face, then stood up. "He Bo, I have a flight to America for a business trip at nine tonight. I'll sign the divorce agreement and leave it in the study. If the young lady wakes up, let her know. She just needs to sign it."

In her unconscious state, Su Sijin felt as if a tightly stretched string in her mind had snapped. The pain was like a physical tearing at the tip of her heart, but she just could not wake up amidst the heavy suppression.

She heard the opening and closing of the door, He Bo's desperate pleas, and the sound of a car driving away.

Tears slowly slid out of the corners of her eyes.

She wanted to stop Jin Liunian from leaving, more than she had ever wanted anything before.

...

Su Sijin was in a daze for three days due to the illness before she gradually regained consciousness.

The butler entered the room to find her frail figure leaning against the window, staring blankly at the sea of flowers outside. It was a sea of champagne roses, a gift from Jin Liunian on their wedding day.

He Bo sighed, "Young lady, take your medicine. You're still ill and shouldn't be sitting in the draft."

At his words, Su Sijin slowly turned around and saw the exhaustion in He Bo's eyes. It was only after three full days that she finally believed that she had truly returned.
