Noelle Murphy sat in front of the dressing mirror in a trance, waiting for the makeup artist.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open and Helen Spencer walked in hurriedly.

She was surprised to see that Noelle was still wearing a grey cotton-padded jacket, her hair disheveled. Giving her a look of reproach, Helen said, "The Miller family is here. Why haven't you changed your clothes yet?"

Noelle pushed her black-rimmed glasses up her nose, looking puzzled as her eyelids drooped. "Mom, do you really want me to marry Vivian's fiance?"

Thinking that Noelle wanted to go back on her words, Helen's face turned pale with dread.

The Miller family was waiting outside. Thus, it took just a slip-up to destroy the Murphy family!

Helen was so anxious that she knelt down before Noelle. "Noelle, I'm begging you. Vivian deserves a better man. Please help her!"

Upon hearing those words, Noelle's listless eyes turned cold. Helen was her biological mother, but she had devoted all her love to the son and daughter of her father's dead ex-wife.

Thus, even though Helen knew that Vivian's fiance looked hideous and was impotent, she forced Noelle to marry him on behalf of her sister.

Outside the door, the servant was urging them. "Madam, Miss Noelle, the Miller family's men are coming upstairs."

Instead of reaching out to help Helen up, Noelle said indifferently, "Get up. I'm leaving."

This time, she really couldn't care less.

When she opened the door, she saw a group of unfamiliar bodyguards standing outside. They were the people sent by the Miller family to pick her up.

She was going to get married that day without a wedding ceremony or even a groom.

"Let's go." Noelle then led the way downstairs.

The Miller family was one of the wealthiest families in Landuvia City. Theodore Miller, the only heir of the family, had been kidnapped more than ten years ago. The incident had led to his disfigurement and impotence.

Since then, Theodore had never appeared in public.

Rumor had it that he was ruthless and ugly, and that every woman sent into his room had never come out alive.

However, Noelle was engulfed by despair that even if Theodore turned out to be a devil, it did no matter to her.

......

When they arrived at Theodore's villa, the bodyguards brought her into a room and left.

It was not until the dusk fell that the door was pushed open once again.

Noelle turned her head and saw a tall man walking through the door.

Then, he closed the door behind him and turned on the lights in the room.

Noelle instinctively raised her hand to block the dazzling light. It was only then that she finally saw who the man was.

At a glance, she was dumbfounded.

It was not because the man was ugly, but because he was too handsome.

Wearing a dark suit, he looked tall and muscular. He crossed the room in only a few strides, standing in front of Noelle.

He had a handsome face with clear-cut and perfect features, as if it was a fine piece of art. However, she could feel a great sense of oppression from him.

Theodore sized Noelle up for a few seconds. Frowning, he said, "Too ugly."

There was no emotion in his calm tone.

Noelle snapped back to reality. She didn't care much about his comment on her appearance. Instead, she stared at him warily and asked, "Who are you?"

With a penetrating gaze, he said in a deep voice, "Don't you know who you are married to?"

As he got closer to Noelle, his intimidating aura made her shudder.

She froze for a moment, catching her breath. Then, she straightened her back, saying, "Of course I know. I'm married to Theodore Miller."

Upon hearing this, the intensity in Theodore's gaze gradually disappeared, replaced with a look of dawning comprehension. It seemed that she was another woman who believed in the rumors.

Her expression was way too calm for someone who was just married to an ugly and impotent man, piquing his interest.

His lips curled into a smirk as he pretended to say in a frivolous manner, "Oh, I see. I'm Theodore's cousin, Cyril Miller. I don't think you'd want to spend your wedding night with a disabled man."
