"Ah!!!"

Larina Ruth shot up from her bed, a cold sweat covering her forehead as she screamed.

Her rapid breathing filled the quiet room.

She wiped her damp forehead and experienced a sudden chill.

Nightmares had been disturbing her sleep for weeks, growing more intense with each successive night.

She yearned for an undisturbed slumber, but lately, sleep was more foe than friend.

"Why? Why am I dreaming of him again..."

Larina licked her dry lips and got out of bed.

Under the faint glow of the bedside lamp, she slipped on her slippers and approached the table.

Taking a sip of warm water, she let out an involuntary sigh of relief as the liquid slid down her throat...

Two months had passed since that unforgettable night, yet its memory still tormented her, haunting her dreams.

At their grandmother's insistence, Larina travelled overseas to visit Dalton Oscar, who was on a business trip.

As the evening unfolded, things took an unexpected turn, and the passion between them ignited.

The morning after, she left without uttering a goodbye or granting a farewell kiss.

However, the memory of that night lingered in her mind, causing her countless sleepless nights filled with heartache and regret.

She admitted to herself that leaving without confronting him was cowardly. Actually, she just didn't know how to deal with the situation...

Larina inhaled deeply, taking another gulp of water.

Absently, her eyes flitted around the room and she froze when they fell upon a man's figure on the nearby sofa.

Fear clutched at her throat, rendering her speechless.

"Ahem—!"

She hurriedly retreated to the wall and pressed the light switch.

The dazzling light hurt her eyes. When she could finally fix her eyes on the sofa, she was almost scared out of her wits.

It was actually... Dalton!

"Wh— Why are you here?" She asked in surprise. She could not tell whether she was scared or nervous. Her heart was thumping hard.

His silhouette bathed in a thin layer of moonlight, while his tall body blended into the darkness, giving off a mysterious chill.

At this moment, the steam wafting out of the Americano in his hand formed a thin veil before his sharp eyes, which made him cold yet elegant.

"This is my home. What is it to be surprised for?" His tone was a little cold, and his thin lips pursed into an extremely sexy arc.

How could he sound so casual? Larina winced. They had been married for two years, and the times he returned could be numbered.

"I was just a little surprised." Sounding calm, she smoothed her chest, steadying her nerves.

Larina looked at him with an indescribable feeling in her heart.

Dalton was the God's favored son. He had a double PhDs, a rich family background, and was once listed as the world's richest man by Forbes, definitely controlling the lifeline of Fortgrad. In comparison, his handsome and charming appearance was nothing to speak of.

If she had not been lucky enough to save Dalton's grandmother that year, she would not have been able to become the Young Madam of the Oscar family.

She clenched her fists under her sleeves and thought about it. Perhaps it was time for her to tell him about what happened that night...

"Dalton."

"Larina."

Out of the blue, both of them called out at the same time.

Larina said politely, "You first."

Dalton put down the coffee cup, laid his arms on his knees, and stared at her, exuding an inborn charm of a superior.

"Let's get divorced."

Her heart skipped a beat, and her eyebrows slightly trembled.

He actually wanted a... Divorce...

"Why?" she blurted out subconsciously.

Although they did not love each other, they had been married for two years. She had the rights to know the reason, hadn't she?

Dalton replied, "I've met someone I want."

In other words, it was time for her to give up the position of the Young Madam of the Oscar family to that person.

Larina lowered her head and felt a little stifled. The Oscar family had helped and protected her while she was in the most difficult point of her life, while Dalton had never made things difficult for her. She had no reason to refute his decision.

She let go of her clenched fists and looked up. Her pitch-black eyes met his.

"Okay, I'll do as you say," she said softly.

Dalton admired her compliance.

Observing her slim figure, he couldn''t help but be reminded of the girl he had encountered that fateful night.

But swiftly, he brushed that thought aside. Philip had scoured the globe for two months to find that girl, and the tears she shed still had the power to tug at Dalton's heartstrings.

His responsibility was towards that girl alone - As for Larina...

Dalton presented her with an agreement.

"I'm offering you a compensation of 50 million dollars, coupled with a commercial block and a downtown villa. Given that our marriage has been hush-hush from the onset, our divorce shouldn't affect your reputation. If you have any additional requests, feel free to voice them."

Tsk, tsk. What a generous man!

Larina's lips curled sardonically. "I don't require any of this, Mr. Oscar."

Resolutely, she pushed the agreement away. "I don't want your compensation, and our paths won't cross post-divorce. Rest assured."

Dalton's brows shot up. Wasn't Larina the one who had insisted on marrying him two years ago, wanting to live a luxurious life?

So, was she... going to ask for more?
