"Shai." that would be Mr Paul, my boss from the restaurant I work at after-school. He was holding a white envelope with one hand and his face looked as if he was dreading what he was about to do, or say. I knew exactly what that meant.

I put the glasses I was holding back on their tables and walked over to where Mr Paul was standing.

"This is for this week sweetheart. It's not much but you understand why that is." he said holding the envelope out to me.

I nodded and said, " I know. Thank you sir."

He sighed before saying, "I know you deserve so much more than this so I pulled some strings and a friend of mine would like it if you worked for them. It's a very big restaurant I just want to make sure you want it before I can let them know you're in."

"Yes, I'm in. I'll work for them." I said with a smile. I really needed a job.

"Good. I'll let them know. I'll send you the details later. Please use that wisely." he said pointing to the envelope in my hands. I nodded and went back to work.

"Dude, you've been sitting there for a while now. You need to help us out with the party." that was Daniel, my day one friend who is loyal to me as I am to him. We grew up together and some people think we're brothers.

"I am helping around. You just don't see it because you're busy flirting with Ryan's sister."

"I am not. Now, help me take everything important into my room. I don't want any of my parents' things to get broken."

I helped him out. He was throwing a party for me. But I am not into it but since I have to convince him that I'm okay, I have to act like I am enjoying the party.

"So dude, have you heard from her yet?" Daniel asks not looking at me in the eyes.

"Who? Juliet?" I ask as if I didn't know who he was talking about.

"Yeah, have you?"

"No, her parents won't let me talk to her. They even filed a restraining order for me. I can't talk to her either."

"I mean you did mess up her life, man."

"Unintentionally."

"But she doesn't know that."

My voice was starting to rise now.

"Because she won't hear my side of the story. And if she continues with this, she won't ever know what really happened and she won't ever forgive me." my voice went lower, "But I love her and I can't let her leave me. I need her."

"I'm sorry man. I didn't mean to be insensitive. We'll figure it out together."

I looked at him and just nodded. We went back to what we were doing. A lot has happened these past few weeks and maybe Daniel is right. I should have some fun. Just for tonight.
