Mickayla's POV

Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up, drag my feet off the bed, and rub my knuckles onto my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn, watching my socked feet dangle above the wood floor.

"I really hope this school will be the last one for me this time." I mumble to myself and let out a deep sigh then lift myself off the bed and walk to the left of my room, entering my bathroom where I begin brushing my teeth then wash my face.

I exit the bathroom and enter my closet where I pick out a suitable outfit for school. I have to look great, especially since I'm the new girl.

I hang my camouflage blouse and a denim jeans on the clothes rack in an empty section of the closet. This is where I store the clothes that I prepare to wear somewhere a day before.

I rush to the bathroom to shower before my annoying big brother, Matthew come yelling my name and argue about me being late for school on my first day.

Fifteen minutes later, I exit the bathroom with a towel around my small body while drying my long blonde hair with another. This is going to take long so I walk back in the bathroom, I plug the blow dryer in the electrical socket and dry my hair, then tie it neatly in a high ponytail. I walk back to the closet and get dressed and put on a red converse from my shoe rack.

I am not one of those girls that stuff their faces with make up so I just add some face powder and lip gloss on.

I finally look away from the mirror and walk towards my school bag that is seated on the chair in front my computer desk. I pick it up along with my phone that is on my bedside table then head downstairs.

I am instantly greeted with the scent of pancakes and bacon, so I hurry to the kitchen and to my surprise, Matt is wearing camouflage hoodie and black jeans.

"No no no. Go take them off!" I yell at him as I point towards the staircase. "I do not want us to wear the same thing Matt, I know you wanted a twin but we are not twins. And please stop sneaking in my room to find out what I'm wearing so you can wear the same thing." I finish.

"Calm down, Mickayla." Matthew says and start laughing. "I did not sneak in your room. It's just coincidence." He shrugs. I know he is lying. I scoff at him and walk away to get some of that delicious breakfast but stop in my tracks when a pink sticky note on the fridge catch my eyes.

I hope you have a wonderful first day of school.

Ps, Matt, save some of the breakfast for your sister!

Dad.

"You just want people to think that we are twins, we don't look alike. I'm human and you're whatever you are." I say to Matthew after reading the note.

"You are lucky dad's not here." He mutters while holding up his middle fingers at me.

"You are such a baby Matt." I laugh at him.

Siblings aren’t simply close; siblings are knit together. Siblings are more like friends who never leave you alone.

Most of us have a brother or a sister. The brother-sister bond is a special one. Even though they constantly argue, they share a deep friendship, and this friendship is the best thing one can ever ask for.

Matt is just a year older than me. He is an intelligent teen who also excels in sports but soccer is his favourite. He has won many medals in his school’s soccer championships.

He is a jolly kid who is loved by everyone. He has many friends. In school, literally all the schools we have attended, he has always been popular. However, he always makes time for me, even if he has to cancel his plans with his friends.

His thoughtfulness makes him a wonderful person. He is the sweetest older brother, and I honestly cannot imagine growing up without him.

There are occasional fights and arguments. But at the end of the day, Matt and I are always looking after each other. Having my big brother in my life is an amazing gift I could ever ask for. We are basically responsible for each other's well-being. I try my best to keep him happy and positive and he does the same. I love my brother. I wish he gets all the happiness he deserves and more.

Brothers are mischievous. Sometimes they can be annoying, but their presence matters. We simply cannot live without them. No matter how many times you fight with them, the very next day everything would be fine. Unlike friends, they don’t leave your side. They are our forever companions.

Most importantly, or not so importantly, wenever I insult him, he would always run to dad and complain about it, but he would just make things worse for himself. I am dad's little pumpkin, I hardly get in trouble.

We sit around the kitchen island and eat our breakfast while talking about a movie we were watching last night until realizing that school starts in thirty minutes.

Matt and I rush to his black BMW i8 that Dad bought him a month ago and drive to school.
