“Why are you doing this to me?” Eleanor asked, frowning at the man who tightened his grip on the steering as he raised the acceleration.

“Questioning your boss is not permitted in my company.”

She raised her brows and crossed her arms, looking at him incredulously. “Then I would like to resign from my position,” she stated.

“I won’t accept your resignation,” Allen said authoritatively, intimidating her.

“Wonderful! Now I can’t even resign on my own and god knows where are you kidnapping me?”

“This is not kidnapping.”

“You are taking me against my will. If it's not kidnapping, then what it is?!” she exclaimed, pinching her brows together.

“I am not bound to answer your stupid questions. Now stay quiet until we reach otherwise I have different measures to seal your lips,” he replied solemnly, making her sit still the entire way.

Not long after that, the car stopped in front of an immense building. Allen glanced at her and said, “Step out.”

She nodded at him like an obedient child and stepped out of the car. Wondering why they were here, she asked, “Why are we here and what place is this?”

“You’ll get to know and follow me,” came a vague reply as he walked towards the entrance.

Letting out a sigh, she shook her head. Nonetheless, she followed him into the building. After a few floors and a short walk, he halted and knocked on the door.

She peeped behind his back. Her eyes widened, looking at the wooden board hung on the door.

“Why are-”

“Come in!”

The voice interrupted her, and she decided to remain silent. Anyway, she would get her questions answered soon. Entering the room, her eyes fell on a middle-aged man wearing a black coat. Well, it was a marriage registrar's office whom else one would expect behind the desk.

“Please have a seat,” the man said politely, gesturing towards the chairs in front of him.

Allen took a seat and glanced at her and a seat beside him. She did what he said, blankly.

“Is it ready?” Allen asked the registrar.

“Of course, sir. Your one call and my intern prepared the documents you had asked for,” the registrar replied proudly.

Everything was happening so fast that she wasn’t able to comprehend anything. Her eyes frequently danced between Allen and the registrar. After a brief moment, she heard the registrar say,

“I hope you both will spend the rest of your lives with each other. Hence, not beating around the bush, please sign on the marriage documents to declare it officially.”

Her mouth fell open as soon as the words left the registrar’s mouth. She was horror-struck. How could she agree to marry a man whom she hated from her every vein?

She glanced at Allen, who appeared to most serene person in the cabin at that moment, which irked her more. He picked up the document from the registrar. After signing, he pushed the same document toward her.

Her nose flared in anger. She was furious about how could he decide everything on his own. And why would she marry him? Just because he was her boss, he has no right to take her personal decisions. Pushing the papers away from her, she said sternly, “I won’t sign on them.”

The registrar stared at her continuously, raising his brows. This wasn’t the first time a woman was backing away from marriage, but this was indeed the first time a woman was saying no to a billionaire. Eleanor’s dignity and self-respect intrigued him. He glanced at the CEO of Phoenixmart, wondering what would be his next step.

Allen let out a sigh being tired of her being dramatic. He leaned towards her. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, he whispered in her ears.

Eleanor’s eyes widened in shock. His words felt unreal for her. She turned to look into his eyes, wondering if he was joking with her. But there was no tinge of playfulness in them. He was serious. She gulped, looking at the pair of intimidating eyes.

Quickly picking up the pen, she signed the marriage document with trembling hands. She handed the documents back to the registrar, still confused if this all was a dream or real.

The registrar wondered what the CEO had whispered into her ears, convincing her. The lady, according to him, looked shocked by his words. Nevertheless, he smiled at them and said, “Congratulations! From this moment, you two are officially husband and wife. Happy new life Mr and Mrs Wertheimer!”

Allen nodded and got on his feet, exiting the cabin. Eleanor glanced at the registrar one last time before rushing behind her boss, who now was her husband.

She was a wife of a billionaire. Just a day ago, she was struggling to pay her rent and household bills. And today she was swimming in the pool of wealth. Everything was happening so fast that she couldn’t acknowledge if this was her dream or reality.

The car moved, and she sat inside with her mind full of entangled questions. She pinched her arm to check the reality, but it did nothing except leave the pain behind.

“It is not your dream.”

Allen’s voice dragged her back from reality. She turned towards him to meet a pair of intimidating eyes. “I don’t want to believe this,” she murmured.

Listening to her words, he leaned in, never breaking the eye contact with her. He could sense the racing heartbeats beating against her chest. A smirk of satisfaction plastered on his face, seeing his impact on her.

He moved even closer to her. Brushing her bottom lip with his thumb, he said in a hushed tone, “Sooner you accept the truth, the better for you, my beautiful wife.” With that, he moved away from her.

Eleanor sat there like a statue with her eyes wide open. Chills ran through her spines as she wondered what would happen to her. She was going to live with a monster under the same roof. His last words kept on repeating in her mind, again and again, the entire journey making her quiver.

“My beautiful wife…”
