>PROLOGUE

“Are you going against your father's will? my mom shouted at me at the dinner. We're talking about what course I'm going to take in college. But they insisted on taking the medical course. My family is a doctor; that's why they want me to be one. But I don't really want to be a doctor. Even in elementary school, teachers tend to ask what our dreams are, and it never comes to mind that I want to be a doctor.

“I don't want to become a doctor, Mom.”

I thought she would side with me because she loves me, but she didn't. She sided with Dad and

still forcing me to take the course I don't want.

“If you don't want to inherit our business, go. Leave and live on your own. Let's see if you can handle it without our help.

They're telling me to move out, right? What's wrong with this family? Haha. Am I really their child? Parents should support their children's dreams. Not stopping them. How can I live without them?

After that dinner, I packed my bag and put everything that I needed in it. I bring my expensive clothes, bag, shoes, and jewelry. I think I'm going to sell this for now. This is reality. Money can't appear before my eyes. I also need to start looking for a job after I leave this mansion. Hays. How I wish I could meet a rich man and marry him. Kidding aside.

When I'm done packing my things, I start looking for apartments online. “Gosh, the rent was so expensive, I mumbled.

It took me two hours to find an apartment that I could afford. Cross Village. 4k a month. I think it's all good. I have a 10k in me right now. I don't spend every penny that my parents give me when I'm studying. I called the landlord and told him that I was moving right now. She thinks I'm a joke because who the hell moves out in the evening? But I told her that I'm not kidding.

Why did I choose it? It's simple.

That village had high security; I think my parents cannot find me there because they can't disclose our identities to anyone.

When my parents went to bed, I asked our driver to drive me somewhere. I had to stop at the wrong place because he's my father's driver; he might tell everything if I told her to drive me to my apartment.

When our drivers leave, I call a cab and tell them the address.

The place was huge when I arrived. I didn't know that this was the only apartment building that stood there. The landlord might be rich.

“Miss Declan?” I smiled when the landlord called me.

“I'm Gorene Smith; you can call me Mrs. Smith. Come in, she greeted. I nodded at her and followed her inside. We go into her office first. I signed a contract for 4 years and paid my deposit for the rent. She told me, too, that I had a roommate. And says it's fine. But she didn't mention that it was a guy. When I arrived at my room. My jaw dropped to the floor. This room is huge for two people. I think this is the large room here.

And I saw the things that a guy needs. That's why I think my roommate is a guy. I called the landlord and asked why she didn't let me know first. I thought it was a girl.

She told me that we're not going to cross paths in this house because he tends to work at night.

This room looks expensive too. But why is my rent only $4000? Wait, if there are two people here, it means $8k is the full price. One room is 8K? Wow.

I opened the door of my room and saw that it was very clean and smelled good. I hope there's no ghost here. I arranged my things first and dozed off. When I woke up, I went straight to the kitchen and cooked something. I felt my tummy groaning.

I checked my phone; what time is it? It's 10:45 p.m. I think my roommate is preparing to leave, which is why I need to eat faster. I left a note there for taking his one ramen.

“Sorry for not asking your permission first. I ate one of your ramen. Hehe. I'll pay for it tomorrow.”

I clean what I use to cook and go back to my room to sleep. I think my room is soundproof because I cannot hear if my roommate leaves his room. But wait, why am I curious about that? Tsk. Am I that curious about him?

I set an alarm before going to bed.

I woke up at 6 a.m. to get ready for work. When I left the apartment, I didn't see my roommate. I guess he was tired from his work yesterday. I'll greet him if I have free time, I guess.

4 days passed and everything keeps on repeating: I sleep, go to work in the morning, tutor rich kids in the evening, and do research for a high school kid after.

Today is my rest day, so I can finally enjoy staying at my apartment. I can watch movies, dramas, or even read a book.

While looking for a movie, I get on my phone to order some food. A movie is exciting when you're eating something. I ordered a large cook and chicken.

When my order came, I slowly walked back to my room. It's time for my roommate to come home. Oh, what should I do if he sees me? I look horrible right now.

But nevermind. He's staying out late; there's no chance he'll be here already.

“Oh, I need some water, I mumbled to myself.

I go back to the kitchen to get water from the fridge. But I saw something that I shouldn't have seen. My roommate is there, standing in front of the window while drinking wine.

“Good evening, Miss Declan.” The room became cold when I heard his voice. His voice is so sexy. I didn't know that my roommate would be this handsome. Such a perfect creation.

Get your act together, Aide!

Wait.... I think I smell blood.

Blood? At this hour? What the hell am I smelling?

I smell where the smell's coming from, and it's from the wine glass. Shoot. Is he drinking that?

What the hell? What's wrong with him?

Why is he drinking blood? Shit.

Don't tell me... He's not a human?

No, no, no...

What is he? A monster?! A vampire?

What should I do? He saw me! Our eyes met! Is he going to kill me now?

Spare me, please!
