  Viola’s POV

To run or not to run, that’s a question.

I gave my broomstick a stroke, hoping to make a quick decision.

But it was too hard. As a witch, I had never imagined that one day, I would face an arranged marriage.

In the past 300 years, I had been working hard to become a great witch.

I learned the spells, practiced magic and drove excellent tools. I seized every minute to enhance myself. I could bet I am the most hardworking witch in the Wizz Kingdom!

I did not mean to become as great as the Great Merlin. I just wanted everyone who knew me could regard me as a good witch, and believed Viola was worthy of a member of the Grant Family.

Yes, the Grant Family was the most ancient and powerful witch family.

There were ten greatest witches in the Wizz Kingdom, three of which were from my family. I felt very proud of it. I didn’t hope Viola Grant disappoint my family.

However, things went on the wrong cracks in this morning. The King of Wizz Kingdom gave an order: I must marry his third son, the Third Prince of Wizz in the next day.

When I saw the pigeon carrying this message arrived at my window, I was boiling my magic potion.

After I listened to its cooing, I almost burned its feather. I was astonished by it and hardly controlled the magic fire.

The pigeon fluttered out, cooing heavily, as if it was swearing and shouting for my rudeness.

I watched it flying away with a guilty smile. But it wasn’t my fault! The pigeon just brought such amazing news!

I closed my spell book and stopped struggling with my magic potion. My mind was taken up by this bad news! I couldn’t believe it!

Yeah, I knew I was an adult witch when I celebrated my 300-year birthday. But I didn’t want to get married at such a young age!

I took away the red-hot crucible. The inside liquid was still bubbling. Although I didn’t finish cooking it, I had already smelled the bitter taste. It must be delicious!

The King was an idiot! Without his stupid order, I should make myself a delicate breakfast.

I kicked the rubbish bin to let it open.

"You are rude today, Viola!" Mr. Trash said with discontent. I poured the dregs away to rinse the crucible in silence. I didn’t want to speak because I was angry!

  "Ouch!" Mr. Trash howled.

"Sorry, I forgot it was too hot!" I apologized for my careless behaviors.

"At least it was delicious!" Mr. Trash mumbled.

Of course it was delicious. It should be my breakfast.

The King’s order ruined my morning. I had never met the King. Why he wanted me to marry his son?

Did he want to create an alliance with my family? If he wanted, he must have made a stupid decision!

I ran to my dad’s room, wishing he could refuse the King.

Although we lived in the border area to stay out of the political spotlight, we had a high reputation among the whole kingdom.

After all, witches just let magic power talk! The Grant Family was strong enough. We do not fear the king.

But when I arrived, I only to find his room was surrounded by blue mist. That was the sign he was studying a new spell.

A wizard couldn't be disturbed while he was learning a new spell. Otherwise, he might go crazy. But it was my marriage...I could only hover in the doorway, wondering when my dad could finish it.

"My sweetheart, just come in." Suddenly, I heard my dad’s clam voice and noticed the blue mist faded away. I opened the door and stepped in.

Observing my entrance, my dad used a spell to hide our conversation. Therefore no one could hear us talking.

"For a witch, Merlin’s order comes first," my dad said.

"It’s my marriage, dad! Why do you talk about the Great Merlin?" I felt quite confused.

He stared at me with his dizzy eyes, and spoke with exact confidences.

"Your marriage is the order of Merlin."

"What?! How could it be?!" I couldn’t believe my ears!

"My sweetheart, it’s true! You are chosen by Merlin!" My dad shouted with excitement. "He wanted you to marry Draco."

  "Draco?"

  "The Third Prince. "

"But..." my words were interrupted by him. "Only the King, Draco, you and I knew it. Merlin wanted us to keep it a secret! He didn’t provide more details."

"Uh, time is out! I must continue with my new spell. Just follow the order of Merlin!" He ended the conversation.

So I just backed to my room and locked the door. My head was full of confusion. I was even more confused after talking to my dad!

I went straight to the bed and rolled on the velvet sheet. Why Merlin would concern about my marriage?

Merlin was the most powerful wizard in the world. He was still the guardian of our kingdom. All the orders he gave must make our kingdom better!

But I was just a nobody, though I didn’t want to admit. Why did he give this order? Why did Merlin ask me to marry a stranger, a Prince?

Wait! Draco! The Third Prince! I just remembered this name!

Draco was totally a weirdo! I had heard about him even I lived far away from the King’s Palace! As a wizard, he couldn’t use magic or learn spells! He seldom appeared in public. I have never met him.

A rumor said he was cursed by the evil dragon! And some worse even said he was dangerous as he had been influenced by the dragon’s evil spirit.

Rumors might not be true. But I was quite sure he was the last one I wanted to marry!

Ridiculous! How could Merlin ask me to marry such a weirdo! There must be something wrong!

But what should I do? The marriage date was coming!

A great idea came into my mind! Escape! I could escape the marriage. But my dad would be mad if I run. Heck, I didn’t have any better answer for this dilemma.

I prowled around the room. Mr. Trash was still digesting my breakfast. Its rumbling upset me.

Maybe a walk in the garden would bring me some good ideas. I jumped up from my bed and tried to open the door. But I failed. To my surprise, I couldn’t open the door no matter how hard I yanked.

I used a door-open spell. But the door stayed locked!

I was totally stunned for several minutes! Then I realized it was locked with senior magic.

Who did it? I didn’t know. I threw a burning spell on the wooden door.

A small fire started from the bottom of the door and disappeared quickly, only left a pall of golden smoke.

My attack magic didn’t work. But I got some hints. Golden, this color was closely tied with the royal family. Only their magic could glow like burnished gold.

I leaned on the wall to make myself clam down. I couldn't ask my dad for help. He was at a critical juncture with his new spells.

But the King definitely annoyed me. How could he lock me? How could he force me? Maybe Merlin's order was just his lie. He just used it to scare me.

All he did was to force me to stay home and prepare for the wedding. Great! I would run! I must run!

Wait, why the rumbling of Mr. Trash became louder and louder?

I looked at it, only to find Mr. Trash was expanding.

"No--" I screamed out. But it was too late for me to stop its explosion!

My whole room was shrouded with an uneasy smell of magic potion. Eventually, Mr.Trash couldn’t fully digest my breakfast.

I noticed the hole gaped in the roof. The explosion blasted a tunnel for me to leave.

"Good job, Mr. Trash!" What a timely explosion!

I simply packed, grasped my broomstick and left my room.

Heck with the marriage! Heck with the King!
