"Carson! Please do not put glue in Alyssa's hair." Logynn wasn't having the best day but as she looked up to the clock on the wall, it read that in exactly one hour she would more than likely be walking out of this place and curl up with a good book and forget about the horrible week she just had. Although Carson Reed was giving her a good run for her sanity before one of his parents came to get him. The kid was hyper, making Logynn want to pull her hair out; he did have a sad story which softened Logynn in her position as preschool teacher at Lil Cutie's Daycare.

But multiple meetings with his mother never helped. His father, who just recently came home from Iraq last week, just recently reentered Carson's life. And by the looks of it he isn't going to go easy on the guy. Logynn hadn't yet met his father but with him being home now they could give Carson the attention he is fighting for. As she thought about Carson's father it dawned on her that she would be meeting him for the first time today as he was attempting to pick him up. The mother would be on stand-by just in case Carson didn't feel comfortable living with him. You can't rightfully blame the spirited three-year-old, the last time he seen his father was at the age of a year and a half and it was only long enough to come home and settle the divorce between him and his wife. Seems Mrs. Reed had sent Chase a Dear John letter and told him she had met someone else and would be filing for a divorce as soon as he could come home and deal with his part of it. Mrs. Reed had from Logynn's point of view showed no compassion for the guy and what he had already been through with the war.

Logynn already had a soft spot for the guy and was ready to put a face to the already image her mind had conjured up. She looked around at her class that had finally settled and began their clean-up around their stations. She sighed as she sank into her desk chair and gave the clock one long look, willing to hit six 'o clock faster.

Logynn watched the number of kids dwindle away as their parents picked them up. Carson was the last one as always. He looked away when he met Logynn's glance, focusing on the picture window on the side wall. The picturesque image of the playground is set out before him, unobtainable. He sighed as he rested his cheek at his hand and seemed to be thinking hard. A deep male throat cleared causing both Logynn and Carson to cut their eyes to the doorway.

What she saw was not the image she had already of Mr. Reed but so much better than she could ever had imagined.

His chestnut brown hair was the same as his son's Carson's and he also shared the same piercing blue eyes with his offspring. Mr. Reed's pants hung snug off his hips with his black Hanes T-shirt tucked in only by a short amount at the waist, showing his wide belt buckle. Logynn caught the hint of tattoo's edging up the biceps under the sleeve on both arms before she heard another throat clearing, forcing her eyes back to where they began before they took a detour down his magnificent body.

Logynn felt the skin flush on her cheeks as she knew he caught her ogling his goodies. "You must be Mr. Reed?" Carson looked up at the guy in the doorframe as he came in further. He looked the guy over as if he were a stranger to the boy, Mr. Reed walked with cautious steps as he stopped just shy of Logynn's desk. She watched the eye contact with the father and son duo and wondered if she would have to call his mother to intervene. "Carson?" She stood from her desk and smoothed out the Seven pair of jeans she had saved up for, for months, to buy. Logynn crossed the distance between her and Carson crouching down to his level. "Carson, buddy, your dad is here. Don't you want to go home with him?" Logynn heard the rustling of jeans as if Mr. Reed was shifting to his feet, waiting to hear the young boy's response.

Carson turned his focus on Logynn after giving his dad a glance. "I don't know." He muttered towards Logynn. She had never seen the boy in such a helpless state; it broke her heart to even watch the pain in Mr. Reed's eyes as he watched his son. "Carson, your father wants to spend some time with you; don't you want to get to know him?" Carson shrugged his shoulders as he glanced from Logynn to his dad. Logynn looked back in time to see Mr. Reed walks up beside the two and crouched down.

"Listen, buddy, I know how you must feel. But if you would just give me a chance to get to know you, I'm sure we could have a lot of fun." Carson looked between Logynn and his father.

"Can we go get ice-cream?" Logynn and Mr. Reed looked at one another at the same time with the same smile.

Mr. Reed patted the boy on the shoulder and said..." sure buddy."

Logynn walked back to her desk and packed her bag. When she looked up, she found Mr. Reed standing in front of her.

"Thank you."

She shouldered her bag and nodded her head with a smile. "Of course."

He stretched his hand and said, "Chase Reed." She took his hand and smiled, not in response to his greeting but to the fact she loved her hand in his. He was gentle but firm.

"Logynn Meyers."

"Listen if everything works out okay with Carson, I will be picking him up every day next week. Kelly and I are going to try this joint custody so hopefully everything will work out."

She walked them both to the door, as they were all stepping out of the classroom; Logynn shut the door and locked it, turning to face the pair. "Be patient with him and just go with it. He will let you know how fast he wants to go." She looked down at Carson as they turned to leave. "Stay cool Carson, see you Monday morning." He looked over his shoulder at her and gave her an easy smile.

Logynn walked to her car and looked just in time to see Chase helping Carson into his F-150 brick red truck. She saw the gleam in the young boy's eyes as he took in the size of the truck. She unlocked her small bright yellow Volkswagen Bug and slid into the driver's seat. It was not a monstrous truck but it was her baby. She swiped her hand over the dash and gave it a loving pat. Starting the car, she buckled up and drove away from the daycare. A full weekend ahead of her with no plans of having to leave the house, she would be in nerd heaven with her books, coffee, and reruns of Friends.
