On the rooftop of the uppermost level, a man and a woman stood facing each other, separated by a mere three meters, yet neither of them spoke a word.

A gentle breeze brushed through them, teasing the edges of their outfits, but given their distance, the wind couldn't entwine them together.

Suddenly, the man's phone rang. He glanced at the woman before pressing the answer button.

A weak voice came from the other end of the line. "Hello, Boss, the madam... she's an undercover agent, run... hurry, flee..."

With a thud, the phone fell onto the ground.

The man, slowly raising his eyes, tightened his fists and glared at the woman as if he wanted to tear her apart. "So you really are undercover?"

"Yes." The woman responded quietly, a hint of sarcasm playing on her lips. "It's just a pity that when your henchman pointed me out, you shot him dead."

"In fact, I should have suspected you the night you left our bedroom and opened my computer in the study. But I gave you complete trust... because you're my wife." The man spoke, a bitter smile tugging at his lips.

The woman was startled by his words, naturally recalling that midnight. As she was copying files from the man's computer, the door of the study suddenly opened. She felt her entire body tighten, death seemed so close. However, to her surprise, the man had come with a coat to drape over her, noting she might catch a chill playing her games.

Not that there weren't doubts, not that there wasn't hesitation, but they'd ultimately arrived here. The woman pursed her lips, helplessly saying, "It's a pity, your trust didn't triumph over my faith."

"Faith? What is faith? The Marx and Lenin you constantly talk about?" The man roared in a fury.

"Someone like you will never understand," the woman coldly responded, not elaborating.

"When?" the man asked in a low voice, and then repeated, "When did you become an undercover agent?"

"From the start, the very beginning... from the first time we met." She enunciated each word, each phrase like a dagger piercing the man's heart. The woman composed herself, suppressing the restlessness in her heart. "I approached you deliberately three years ago and continued with my mission three years later." "Ha, sounds like 'Lust, Caution'," he chuckled bitterly at the irony. The story of a woman infiltrating an enemy camp, spanning several years, was playing out in his life just as it had in the novel.

"No, I'm not cautious, because in 'Lust, Caution', Wang Jiazhi let Mr. Yi go in the end. But I won't." She suddenly drew a delicate handgun from her waistband and pressed it against his heart.

He roared loudly, face turned upwards, "You better kill me. Otherwise, I'll have you begging for life and death." She pursed her lips, uttering word by word, "Don't worry, I graduated from the police academy. My shooting skills are precise. I'll make sure your death is swift."

"You had countless opportunities to kill me." The man closed his eyes briefly, speaking slowly.

"I'm a police officer. My job is not to kill you, but to arrest you." The woman said boldly and righteously.

"Arrest me? Warmer, aren't you being too naïve?" In the middle of his sentence, the man suddenly pulled out a gun from his waist and pointed it at the woman's forehead.

"Mr. Xiao Yiran, I'm officially arresting you now. Please put down your weapon." The woman gripped her gun tighter, staring at the man demandingly.

"Do you think I'll put down my weapon?" The man coldly chuckled twice.

"Aren't you afraid I'll shoot?" The woman widened her eyes in a counter-question.

"Shall we compare who's faster with the gun?" As the man said this, he pulled the trigger in his hand.

Then, a loud bang was heard.

The man fell to the ground.

Yes, it was the woman who had fired the bullet. She looked at the ground in a daze, and upon seeing the man's blood oozing onto the floor, she finally understood. She ran over to the man, helped him up, and cried out in sorrow, "Your gun is empty?"

"Con...Congratulations, you've... accomplished a great feat." The man spoke these last few words, then slowly closed his eyes.
