Bonapriso

11: 30am.

On the streets, She walked lonely with my head bowed down not caring if any car was passing by or not.

The sun was shining and the heat from it could roast one alive but I was lost in my thoughts so much that I didn't get to feel it.

She ground her teeth in her mouth as she tried to control my tests on the streets in order not to attract the gaze from passers-by as she couldn't start answering questions or welcoming their sympathy.

The road was so busy and everyone seemed to be so busy that she walked past them like a ghost.

she took my head up and asked me so many questions as to whom she had offended to deserve such parents.

She had everything any young girl could ask for but one thing was lacking. The most important thing in life was that she could do anything just to have from my parents yet they were able to provide it for me, "Love".

She was desperately in need of love and my parents were able to give me the love and the attention that she needed.

" Hey, young lady, do you want to die?. Watch where you are going", A man shouted out from his vehicle.

"What could she be thinking of at this young age of her's that will make her want to die", a lady murmured from behind.

She stood still in the middle of the road and only then did she realize that she was been looked at by everyone on the street.

" Ms., are you okay? do you need any help or maybe are you lost?". A man asked.

The questions started coming in from different directions and she couldn't take it any longer. She held her head in her hands and screamed, "Stop"...

Everyone stood still and she ran away not knowing the direction she was taking but one thing she wanted was calmness away from everyone.

She kept on running till she couldn't breathe any longer so she stopped and sat on a brick chair by the side of the road.

When she looked around, she noticed that she was in a garden and she saw a beautiful flower.

"Sweet little flower", She said as she plucked it with a smile.

The people of Bonapriso were known for their love for nature and their ability to make others happy through it.

" Who is there?", a voice came in from within the garden.

"I am Melanie Carter and I was just passing by and I stopped at your garden". She said all frightened.

" Calm down young lady, I mean no harm". The old man said. He was the gardener and he looked so friendly.

Yes, I am Melanie, the Senator's only daughter and I wanted to live like every normal girl of my age with my parents around showering me with so much love.

I wished to walk around without bodyguards like my friends and I wanted to be free to attend parties and live life like others.

All that was impossible when I had parents who was politicians and my life was always in danger.

My dad was an old-fashioned man with a power-hungry zest who believed that everything in life was about power, fame, and money even at the expense of his own family.

He believed in the patriarchal system of living where whatever he says is final while my mom is an ambitious woman who thinks that a woman is not supposed to be a pendant on her partner.

She doesn't know what I like or even detests. She is never present at any of my academy processions or even at things that make me happy.

I can understand that my dad is doing all that because he is a man but my mum has no excuse for prioritizing her selfish ambitions over her daughter's happiness.

We live like strangers and the only person who is like a mother in my life is my nanny.

Nanny Margaret had been more than a nursemaid to me since I was a child.

She helped me do my assignment when my blood mother was nowhere to be found, she remembered my birthdays and made my favorite dishes.

She also thought me how to cook while my mom can't even cook talk less of appreciating me when I do.

She has always been my supplicant whenever I went wrong while my blood mother does nothing but judge me day in day out.

My life had been hell and sometimes I often ask myself if she was my biological mother. I lived in that house as a stranger and the only person that will show me, love, sometimes was my dad though he did it scantily.

"Young Lady are you with me?. The old man asked.

Melanie was quickly brought back to reality by the calmness of the man's voice.

With a sad look, she lifted her eyes as though she had never seen a human before in her life.

" Yes I am", She replied faintly.

Deep in her heart, she knew that she had to be strong no matter the challenges she was facing because she had no one but herself.

The old man took her by the hand and led her into the veranda where he asked his youngest daughter to make some coffee for their guest.

I am Mr. Dwayne Johnson and here is my paradise on earth. You can take any flower you want because they are as beautiful as you.

On hearing this, she stood up and said, "Thank you sit but I have to be going now".

The man smiled and replied, "but you just got here my daughter. Stay and have some coffee with me".

She couldn't refuse such a harmless offer so she sat back and honored the request of the old and kind stranger who knew nothing of her yet was so nice to her.

"You look troubled by something but amid all this troubles, I still see a very beautiful and brave young lady". He whispered smiling.

I couldn't understand why he was so nice to me, but it wasn't important because I noticed that anyone could make you feel important irrespective of who they are.
