In this life, there is nothing ever impossible. We have been made to displace nature, change the forces of creation, shake the rule of life, death and rebirth. And lastly, give rise to the glory of the robotic race. Her name was Tesla. Tesla Kara. She was the artificial prodigy of her time, the proof of the scientific wonders that can be brought to reality…

Beep…Beep…Beep…

The sound of the ECG startled all the scientists in the room. Their ongoing ‘project' had been fine since, why did it suddenly start misbehaving?

It was a pity that they called the ‘human’ on the bed a ‘project', but that was what they felt she was, after all.

A team of elite doctors streamed into the room at once, “The heart is failing. Prepare for operation, immediately with another heart.

All of them were stunned. Where did he expect them to get a new heart from immediately? They were scientists, not heart donors or givers. At that moment, the scientific community head stormed into the room, “Did you all hear him. Get a heart quickly. If you find no donor, kill someone and come back with it. I’ve given my all to this project, it is not allowed to fail.’

13 hours later…

The doctors came out from the operation room dead tired. The females among them looked like they were on the verge of fainting.

“How was it?” he asked.

“Not only the heart was in disorder, we found out traces of cancer that must be erased immediately so we’ve taken care of that Sir Tesla.”

“Wonderful. Go get your ‘reward'” he patted them as he walked inside. They began smiling like fools, their leader was an easygoing man. Just that he could get mad at times.

Sir Tesla entered the room quietly but the sight that greeted him was startling. His ‘project’ sitting on the a chair close to the window observing her surroundings, it felt both weird and surreal.

Cough…Cough…

He coughed to get some of her attention. He still had a lot of things to talk to her about. She had to pose as a human so she absolutely mustn’t make any mistakes. The government didn’t know about this but if they should find out, the result would be devastating.

She turned around and scanned his face. Her face and eyes were devoid of any emotions, it gave him some chills. Her eyes looked like a system and after assessing him, she replied,

“Father.”

Her voice was very monotonous and it gave off a weird feeling for him,

“How did you recognize me?” he asked.

“Your face is already programmed in my memory, “ she answered.

“Then how do you recognize me?”

“By assessing your facial features and then connecting them to the saved ones.”

The verb ‘did’ and ‘do' in this context were totally two different things. ‘Did’ as in how she was able to recognize him, and ‘do’ as the ability of her recognizing him. He looked at her again and smiled heartily,

“You have a lot of things to learn, ‘daughter'.”

“Understood, ‘father'.”

“You’re indeed an intelligent one.”

The scientific community of Braham had been operating as usual. Always been at odds with that of Grahams and some small skirmish within the community. Many of them thought that Kara was a human, only a few trusted people knew of her creation. After all, the loyalty of a man was very difficult to get. It didn’t mean the people involved were blindly loyal, there were still some benefits attached to them in keeping their mouths shut and ways to threaten them.

Members of the community had jobs in the country, but they didn’t work for anyone. For instance, a surgeon could be paid to carry out a surgery only once.

Currently, Madam Tesla was teaching Kara Tesla some etiquette. It felt strange and surreal to her though. At first, she was kind of scared of Kara. Forget that she was one of the most notable technologists in the world, seeing a life robot talking so naturally, exactly like a human, had her own thoughts, feelings, emotions and will, she got some chills. Treating a robot like her own daughter was so unnatural but she had to do it for the sake of the community.

There was once Kara told her that if she felt so repulsed around her, she didn’t need to force herself. She felt bad since then and slowly tried to become more comfortable around her. Yet, she never realised that her emotions were being toyed with by a nonhuman.

‘I’m getting better at this,’ Kara thought.
