Having fun is not supposed to be a crime, right?

But in Ava's case, it turned out to be one.

A horrible and memorable one at that.

In a large, typically fascinating and busy town, Flowerhollow in Highhurst, a city that never sleeps, lives Ava.

It was a sunlit and blissful day during the spring season in Flowerhollow town. Ava and her best friend, Chloe were in a light yellow taxicab.

Ava and Chloe were a best friendship of three, two years ago. But the other bestfriend, Jacinta, who left the best friend group  betrayed Chloe and Ava. Here's how:

Jacinta and Ava met before Chloe was in the picture but Jacinta did not last in the picture while Chloe is still in the picture.

Ava and Jacinta met way back in kindergarten. A girl was teasing Jacinta of her pigtails. Ava saw it, walked up to the girl who was teasing Jacinta and pushed her into the dirty,sticky,brown mud. The girl ran away in tears and ever since then Ava and Jacinta became inseparable.

They pinky promised each other that they would always be there for each other and would never date anyone because boys were stupid.

Then in middle school,Chloe came into the picture. Middle school passed away and then high school sophomore year happened.

Jacinta got prettier and prettier which means lots of boys liked her but she had the worst taste in guys and she always dated guys who were toxic and took advantage of her beauty.

There was this one jerk from school called Travis. Travis played basketball and he thought that the world revolved around him just because he was good looking and played sports.

Jeez!He was the worst!

At school,Travis came up to Ava and Jacinta. He invited them to watch his basketball game. When he walked away, Ava looked at Jacinta who had turned as red as a lobster. Ava knew that look. It meant that Jacinta had a crush on Travis, and Ava as always had to protect Jacinta from the latest jerk.

But Jacinta was too stubborn and she started dating Travis and abandoned both of her best friends. When Ava and Chloe confronted Jacinta, she said that they were just jealous of her and she did not want to be around toxic people like Ava and Chloe.

When Jacinta left the best friend group, she moved to another town, but Travis still attended Stary High. He even tried to date Ava but Ava behaved as if he was invisible, payed no attention to him and always gave him silent treatment.

The only thing Ava has said, sorry yelled to Travis ever since then is "What!", because he kept bugging her around the school hallway.

Did Travis forget that there was a boy called Jayson Patterson?

Boom!!

It was the taxi. It passed through a pothole on the road.

Ava and Chloe were going for a pool party which was hosted by Jayson Patterson.

JAYSON PATERSSON!!!

He was every girl's dream guy in the school which Ava attended, Stary High. How could he not be?

When he had the perfect body stature, perfect face and perfect hair. Everything about him seemed so perfect.

Ava did not know if he had the perfect personality and heart also, because she did not talk to him alot. The courage of talking to her crush was not in her and even if she started a conversation, how would she make it last?

Although, she stared at him alot, especially during history classes, which to her, were the worst classes ever. Like who wants to know about what happened years ago when she was not even born yet? Not Ava.

The only thing Ava knew about the olden days was that the price of gas was by far cheaper than the present day. And there were concerts where she could see the band without a few hundred screens blocking her view. There was also a lot of face to face communications and social media was not ruling the world. Which us awful because how were people surviving without electronics like phones and laptops?

Ava was always excited about classes because she sat behind Jayson in class and had enough time to stare at him and admire his handsome perfection.  Did Jayson even notice her at all? It doesn't feel like so. Anyways, Ava still did not pay attention in class because of him.

How did Ava and Chloe get invited to Jayson's party? Chloe and Ava were both shocked when Jayson handed them the invitation card on Friday after school.

Jayson threw the best parties ever and it was freaking hard to get invited to them. Only the cool kids got invited.

Since when did Ava and Chloe become cool kids? Well, Chloe was somewhat cool since she had a footballer boyfriend. Any body in Ava's high school who dated a footballer, or any athlete, as far as the person you dated was involved in sport in one way or the other, that person was referred to as a cool kid.

But Ava was not dating anybody so she was not referred to as a cool kid.

Ava Huxley was just a normal girl who;

-Is in her mid teens, aged sixteen,

-Has plump lips like her mum,

-Is a Black with a white best friend.

Some people do not support Ava and Chloe's  interracial best friendship but that still does not end the two's friendship. They both have a very

tight relationship which cannot be broken by what other people think.

-Has jet black curly hair reaching slightly below her slightly broad shoulders, masking her dark brown eyes.

-Has a scar on her left eyebrow.

Ava got the scar when she was six. It was a summer vacation and Ava was at her grandparent's house; she was trying to get a picture book which had different family pictures in it, from the top of the wooden shelf which was in the passage way between the living room and the kitchen.

As she jumped down from the stool after she got hold of the picture book, a nail on the wall sharply cut her left eyebrow. The cut reached very closely to her eye and she was luckily it did not get to where her eye was if not by today, she would have only had one functioning eye.

Ava was bleeding and screaming endlessly even when she was given a strawberry lollipop to suck on, on her way to the hospital by her grandma. She forgot the fact that Strawberry lollipops were her favorite.

Ava at the age of six, thought that she was going to lose all her blood. Just from a cut!

When she got to the hospital, the doctors cleansed the blood off her eyebrow and applied pressure to it while rubbing neosporin ointment on it, and covered it with a bandage. The bleeding was stopped and Ava was happy that she was not going to die.

But the hair on the middle of Ava's  left eyebrow never grew again, leaving am everlasting scar there. Some people would always pick on her in middle school because of her scarred eyebrow, and instead of feeling sad, Ava learnt to embrace her inner and outer flaws at such a young age. And she paid no attention to her bullies. Besides nobody is perfect.

There was nothing special about Ava right? Or was there?

Maybe she became a cool kid when she got invited to Jayson's party. His parties were strictly by invitations.

Traffic developed on the road, the sun was blaring and Ava left her headphones at home so she could not listen to music at the moment. And even if she asked the driver to play music, there was a possibility  that he did not have the same taste in music as Ava, and there was also a possibility that he did have the same taste in music as Ava. But Ava did not ask him to play some music so she could be on the safer side. Ava is not a risk taker.

Each car on the road was moving slowly, bumper-to-bumper. It seemed like there was an accident ahead and the fire department were already helping out.

Getting stuck in traffic is no fun. Ava prayed to get to Jayson's house on time because she did not want to be late for the first party that she was invited to by her crush. That would not be a good first impression.

There was literally a guy setting up his drum stands in the middle of the road, getting ready to play, crazy right?

To be honest, Ava never wanted to go to the party because she was crushing badly on Jayson. Ava has had a crush on Jayson since the second year of high school. She had what she called 'Crush-Itis' and the only cure for it was confidence.

Why is talking to your crush so hard?

And the worst part is that when you finally start talking to your crush, you find out that the conversation is going very smoothly and your crush is not so hard to talk to after all. And you were just worrying unnecessarily and searching for conversation starters online to keep a conversation which was already naturally smooth, going.

Of course Chloe forced Ava to go to the party in the span of half a day. Ava was forced to go to the party by the irresistible puppy eyes of Chloe. Chloe is the real definition of cute. And she also has the smile that would completely light up every corner of a dark room.

Chloe was a party freak and would never miss the chance to attend a party,as long as she was invited. Sometimes even when she was not invited.

Chloe knew that Ava had a crush on Jayson, yet she still forced Ava to attend the party. Chloe was the first person to know that Ava had a crush on Jayson.

Chloe looked Ava in the eyes and said, "A, you need to loosen up and have some fun. You totes need to crack out of your shell. You only live once, remember?"

"I'll try. And please stop staring into my soul, its scary" Ava said.

Chloe laughed and looked away.

Ava picked up the party invitation card out of her bag. Holding the card was as if she was holding a pile of gold. It was her only way of entrance to the party. The invitation card was blue, with a pool image on it, and beachballs and people in floaters in the pool.

Ava placed the invitation card carefully into her bag. She rolled down the window and gently, slightly  placed her head outside the window of the taxi, the scorching sun and sweet spring-tide calm breeze and  flowed through her hair and chased the car's cold air conditioner blues away.

The food wafts from the food stalls, bus stands and restaurant nearby, made Ava's stomach growl in response, so Ava placed her head back into the taxi.

There was also a couple in the taxi. All they did in the taxi was kiss, hug, rest on each other's shoulders and tell each other they love them whenever the taxi turns to enter a new street.

Finally, Ava and Chloe arrived at the party after witnessing the drama of the two love birds from the taxi, spending a long time waiting for the crazy traffic to clear out and waiting for the red light on the traffic light to turn green.

Immediately  Ava and Chloe handed one of the bouncers their invitation card, they walked straight into the party. They didn't want any more wastage of time as they were already one hour late because if the traffic. Just hope Jayson did not notice that Ava and Chloe were late.
