'The sun floated above the sky, bringing light and heat upon the Earth, signifying another day for the people.

The sunlight poured through the window, shining upon Dennis's face.

Feeling the heat, Dennis' eyelids trembled uncomfortably as they slowly moved upward, revealing his dark abyssal-like eyes.

"Argh." Letting out a grunt, he covered his eyes from the blazing heat that brought uncomfortableness.

"Damn, another day of working my ass off." Dennis rubbed his eyes before taking a deep breath and leaving the bed.

"I also need to prepare the breakfast for that lass." Saying so, Dennis left the room while feeling downhearted.

This routine had been happening for about 3 years. He would do all the chores, prepare the food for him and his little, then he would have to spend at least 8 hours in the construction site, doing heavy works.

If not for having a day off every Sunday, and holidays such as Christmas and New Year, he was sure that his body would have already collapsed from the physical and mental fatigue!

"Oh, right. Today's Sunday, so no work today!" Dennis's face beamed for a moment before quickly dimming when he realized that he had to do the laundry that was accumulated for a week.

"At least, I have 3 hours of free time for rest." Shrugging his shoulders, Dennis made his way towards the kitchen.

Although 3 hours were short, it was still better than nothing. As old as he was, Dennis had experienced many things, he learned to appreciate small things.

As they say,

'The older one gets, the wiser he is!' Thinking that Dennis felt a little bit proud of himself.

Although his life could be considered as 'horrible', he still didn't give up and was still living to this day!

His wife cheated on him!

His baby, whom he considered as his child was, in truth, not his!

At that time, Dennis felt his world broke apart.

He felt his God abandoned him, or was treating him like a little toy to be used for entertainment!

Thankfully, he had his parents who were always at his back, supporting him all the way!

Unfortunately, they lost their lives in a car accident.

He almost couldn't take anymore and be about to commit suicide when he realized that if he died... Who would take care of his little sister?

It was commonplace that an abundance of girls in her age was forced to sell their bodies just to make a living.

When he thought about her little sister doing that... His reasonings quickly came back!

'If that happens, how will I be able to face our parents in the afterlife?'

Hence, Dennis tried his best to give his one and only sibling a good and happy life.

He achieved that. Both of them could eat 3 times a day, her tuition was already paid by him, her allowance was also not that bad.

However, there was 1 thing he couldn't give his little sister.

'Familial Love,' Since he was the only one who was doing most of the work by himself, his time was incredibly limited. Every day, he would only be able to get several hours of free time, and he used them to sleep or rest.

In other words, he didn't have the time to bond with her!

Although they could spend their time together on holidays or their birthdays, and such other occasions, the times were too little that they could be counted with 2 hands!

"Sigh~." Dennis could only sigh in despondent.

Click! Creak!

As the sound of a lock being unlocked, the wooden door slowly opened and a young woman wearing pink pajama slowly came out.

"Morning, Silvana." Dennis quickly greeted.

"Morning." Silvana nodded before yawning.

"The breakfast will be done a few more minutes so feel free to refresh yourself."

"Roger." Saying so, Silvana went left for the bathroom.

"Sigh~." Looking at her back, Dennis sighed deeply.

Truthfully, he was getting tired of doing these monotonous errands, every day.

He... he was craving to enjoy himself even for a day!

However, unless a miracle happened, Dennis would have to continue until his little sister graduated from college and had a stable job.

'Hmm, 8 more years...' Dennis felt bleak.

He wasn't even sure if his body could still be able to endure more few years of extreme conditions!

'Insurance, then.' By getting insurance, even if he died a little more early than he expected, his sister would be able to receive a large amount of money.

Several minutes later, Dennis and Silvana were seated behind the table, eating quietly while watching the T.V. on the side.

"Dennis, thank you." Silvana suddenly said in a tone similar to a buzz of a bee.

"What?" Dennis raised his eyebrows, confused as to what his little sister had just said.

Each and every morning, Silvana would always speak in a muttering tone like this. Dennis was getting older hence his hearing became rusted a little bit, rendering him unable to completely hear Silvana's words.

"Nothing." As always, Silvana shook her head.

"O...kay." Dennis was completely used to Silvana's behavior so he didn't mind that much.

[Good Morning to those viewers of our Maganda*g Umaga T.V. News Program. The time right now is 9:30 in the morning!] A newscaster energetically said before continuing,

[The weather for today is sunny, with no indications of any rainfall. Hence, The 'madlang' people can freely enjoy themselves by going to parks or pools.] However, soon enough, his smiling face abruptly changed.

[We just received a report that... mysterious lights appearing out of nowhere and monsters coming out of them! The Government highly recommends evacuating yourself!]

"Huh? What is he saying?" Silvana confusedly looked at Dennis.

She couldn't just believe what she just said. Mysterious Lights and Monsters? Who would believe those? Even the newscaster's face also showed disbelief at what's he announcing.

However, Dennis knew that a popular and influential program like that would not prank the people by advising them to evacuate.

Unless they wanted to cause mass panic and got their license removed. Furthermore, Dennis was pretty sure that they would not have the guts to do that since the government would be angry and their families would be then come into 'accidents' and died.

However, it would not hurt if they heeded the newscaster's suggestion.

"Anyway, even if it is a prank, we should still prepar-"

Bang!

Dennis' voice was cut off as the door of their 1 story house was forcefully broken from the outside.

Roar!

"Wha-" Dennis' eyes widened in horror as he looked at the monster in front of him.

"Ahhh!!" The strickenly frighten Silvana shrieked in fear.

Roar!!

The 1-meter tall monster looked like a dog but was standing on its 2 feet with a cub in its hand.

Its body was not that different from a dog, with furs around its body, a long furry tail, its long mouth, and sharp fangs.

'What the hell is that?!'
