Vampires are blood sucking beasts that cares naught of gender and age. They have insatiable hunger for blood as they are unable to walk under the shining sun and walk into villages bless by the God Himself.

Clad in a black coat and boots with elegant black finish, its heels long and pointy and a luggage that is obviously made with the highest quality.

The lady that has caught everyone's attention is obviously of high position.

Her silky straight black hair flows as her stride creates wind that flows behind her. She speeds her walk as she looks at the envelope she holds, breathing away her disbelief as she remembers once more of what she has read.

"Accursed this teacher..." she mumbled under her breath.

Dear Paulina,

Greetings my student, I want you to head south and gain custody upon this child that I had saved. Head there and show the guards this letter and they shall show you the child and the papers regarding on gaining custody.

I am unable to take care of this child in the future for I will continue to travel and I cannot burden a child that way, nonetheless, my real reason, of why I want you to take care of this child, you will see once your eyes had laid upon the child's features.

Sincerely, Erdwin Philipps

Paulina found this laughable.

Burdening a child? Where did the man that had dragged around the young me 12 years ago to three different countries and 5 warring towns?! She wanted to stomp her heels onto the letter once more but her face is quite recognizable and there is no need for disgraceful action after she released herself from the clutches of the barbaric teacher, at least she thought.

"What features can a child have for an eccentric man like him to be so interested that he gone out of his way to save a child-- now that I have said it, why did this man said he saved the child?" Her stride halt and her hands starts fumbling for the other parchment that come with the enraging letter.

As she unfolds the paper, stench of blood came rushing to her nose. The blood of a human.

She immediately covers her nose and drops the envelope and the parchment. Why has a piece of parchment contain a smear of blood? She wondered and picked it up once more, looking the details and the words.

It was a cut out from a newspaper and some of it's part are smeared with blood from who knows whose, one things is for sure though, the blood is coming from a young child and not a middle age man.

Around 2 in the afternoon, a child at the age of 10 has been sent in the Guards' station under the suspicion of being a vampire. No proof was shown by the person who reported it but the features prove the accusations. Nonetheless, witnesses have claimed that the child may have carried the features of a beast, but the child is nothing but a beggar on the streets that had never heard of vampire attack in awhile.

The child's fate is still under decision and whether the child will be prosecuted or will be under observation in Jail is something the officials are highly considering.

"Him and his curious mind! He had probably used his influence to save this child without thinking much about it" saving a child is fine and Paulina can handle one until they turn independent or until her teacher comes and takes the child. Nevertheless, a vampire child that was a beggar...

"Non, the child is yet to be proven as a vampire" yet she herself knows that a child with vampiric features hoping to be just human is nothing but a wishful thinking.

However, she felt like forgetting something. She looks at the paper once more and see the smeared blood. That's right, the blood doesn't smell of the teacher's blood, non, it smells of a child.

A vampiric feature on a child at the age of 10. Paulina stuck at sentence inside her head as she pays for a ticket to ride the train.

Paulina Philipps Margrave, student of Erdwin Philipps and has recently received a position of Professor in one of only a few universities in London, remarked as one of outstanding women of the current century, in reality, her past is as comparable as of this child.

She wasn't a beggar, non, she wasn't born with vampiric features as well, non non, however, for her birth, it would have been better that way.

Margrave, the one who carried the witch's anger. That was the title her family received for uncountable generation already. The one who stand on between but never spoke truth, her family is indeed human-like, for a vampire clan, they are indeed human-like.

The South is harsh for someone who proclaims themselves as Vampires and also proclaims themselves as Human.

Years ago, no, it only has probably been 5 years since the war of Humans and Vampires, a one sided war under the reason of fear for their fragile lives. The South was cut into two country states that the humans was not aware of.

The France of Humans and the Italy of Vampires.

Humans have no knowledge that Italy, five years ago, upon a secret treaty the leaders of both races had come into agreement, was given to the Vampires as their home and they cannot expand any more than how Italy is.

It is a big country that can house all of Vampire race so there wasn't any protest upon the reached agreement. Nonetheless, the Vampires still have come to be disgusted of Humans for hating them simply for an unfortunate and disgraceful event of a single vampire. This became the root of Vampires hating the current popular holiday named "Halloween" where humans dress and pretend to be what they fear.

Thus, the reason of why some hated Humans proclaiming themselves or accusing others for being Vampires. And as a cursed member of a cursed clan, Paulina's diction will be accepted if she were to speak to the media upon the child's identity.

"This is undeniably troublesome" she mutters as she looks out of the window, looking at the passing view as the train starts to move on the rail. It will take her two days and a half to arrive in the South, not accounting any postponement of schedules and the likes.

Her brows furrowed as she remembered her teacher once more. His nonchalant words of carelessness and her need to be on constant awareness in the woods. Where has that man gone? That shameless man that made a 12 years old soon to be lady go rough. He probably had find it nagging to bring another one after experiencing Paulina's moments such us being nagged about food and clean water.

Erdwin Philipps was, and is still currently, a very high regarded gentleman. If his very carefree attitude and comparatively barbaric actions is to be excused, he will be a popular man towards the ladies. Sadly, it cannot, alas, he didn't care about his popularity if it came from his looks, no, he only cares about the secrets of the world. He is known as the true one who walked in between.

He had greatly build his influence, both to Humans and to Vampires, that he might be as well be regarded as an ambassador or greater!

"If only, really, had he not carry such attitude"

"What may have you been thinking of, lady?" The sudden voice made her jump from her seat, and if possible, she nearly fell off the opened window.

"I beg forgiveness lady, I was to ask permission to be able to sit in front of you" who seems to be a timid man shows his ticket to Paulina. She looks at the ticket then the seat next to her, it was the truth, and her luggage was conspicuously position at the front of that sit and between her legs.

"Oh dear, I'm sorry for this inconvenience" she moved her luggage beside her and let the man sit on his designated seat.

"I greet you again lady, the name's Ezekiel Vorphen" the man, no, Ezekiel greeted as he show a small smile towards Paulina. She looks at him and smiles as well, what an outgoing fellow, she thought.

"I greet you as well, I am Paulina Marvgrave, may I ask what connections do you have to the Vorphen Company?" Paulina wondered as she look at such a young man with simplistic clothing in comparison to those who go to her presentations or to groups she meet with her teacher.

"Please don't be mistaken, I don't have the intentions of bragging, alas, my nephew is the one who founded the company, all I did was assist him like what my other siblings did" he said with a sincere and humble tone. There is no need to even pry any longer to tell that what he is saying is the truth. Paulina awed at him nevertheless as having a nephew who owns one of the prominent industrial companies in Europe is still amazing.

"What a member to be proud of" she smiled like a fool in front of him, however, he doesn't find it bad.

"Thank you, it is amazing for a young lady as yourself to be teaching at one of the universities as well, I had heard as well that you are coming to France" Paulina now looks at him at pure disbelief. How he knows is something she wants to ask, but would that be prying way too much?

"Pardon me, but may I ask where have you heard such rumor?"

"Oh, I had met Sir Erdwin Phillips on the way and he has spoken about his adventures, he had mentioned about his student going to France for a child that is possibly in need of assistance, are you not the only student of his?" No, she is indeed the only existing student of Erdwin Philipps, but the man had only sent her a letter just a few hours, it might not even have been a day since she knew she had to take in a child and word had already spread!?

"The brazen attitude of my teacher cease to amaze me, have he not caused you any inconveniences?"

"Oh dear no no, he had only spoken about his recent adventures and I rather find it amusing, no need to fret about his brazen attitude for it did nothing harm" this relieved her. His features show no signs of lies in any way. Humans are after all expressive even if they think of hiding their emotions, and this man is not telling a single lie.

"Now that we are on the topic of travelling, may I ask where are you going sir?" Paulina decided to switch the topic as she doesn't really like speaking about the man that undeniably taught her about life but in the most barbaric way.

"I plan on visiting my sister as it is her birthday soon, I will have to be there first than my other siblings for I also have some other business to attend around the area before her estate" he says. Paulina just nod as she listens to his mellow voice.

"Alas, Lady Paulina, may I ask about another matter?"

"Sure, what is it?"

"Have you gone face to face with a vampire in London recently?" Paulina flinched upon the mention of the very word, why had the gentleman brought up the word? Had he noticed? Non non, she barely has features of a vampire, what may had led to this question?

"My, what a very scary word had you mentioned sir Ezekiel, may I ask why first?" Paulina responded in hopes that he will not be suspicious about her words.

"Oh it's not that important, you see, I have met with an acquaintance recently and noticed that his partner was indeed a vampire, nonetheless, she has gone missing without any traces and we are currently on look for her as well" Pauline sighed internally, I see, so it was just a runaway----wait, non non non!

"Wait, sir, you do not carry prejudice against vampires?"

"Oh my, does the Professor do? One had yet to cause me harm and instead had bring fortunes to me so why do I need to carry prejudice against them?" Paulina can't help but be baffled. Had London been this accepting? Non, they have just driven out one recently...recently...

"May I ask what features this lady have?" She asks to him as she remembers the gossip of her neighbors that she found interesting just before going to the station.

"She was a tall lady indeed and one of her eyes are red due to her inability to control her shift properly, or so she explained to me, her fangs are also slightly exposed but she drinks tea and eat snacks well like any other lady" Pauline is now sure of it, the lady who was unjustly force to return to Italy is the lady they were searching for.

The official may had thought she was lying when she says she is with a human partner and didn't allow any form of communication till anyone clears her identity in Italy, but if she is a lady I have yet to hear in Italy then she is not from Italy but have grown to other country! Paulina thought in irritation and rubbed her temple.

"I may know and where this lady is as of now, is that why your going to the South, sir?"

"It is indeed the reason of why I am riding this train so early, my acquaintance is departing to Germany due to business and is unable to look for his wife even if he wants to so he asked me to look for her and give this to her" he brings out a ticket and an envelope that has a dried flowers stuck on the stamp.

"My, this gentleman must be really romantic to prepare such detail" She responded as she looks at the flower. It is a small dried lavender, stuck between the wax stamp. She looks at Ezekiel and gestures to the envelope, asking if she could read it. He shakes his head no and takes back the envelope.

"I'm afraid that's private matter, my lady, trust isn't the point here" he looks over Paulina and she notices it, when she follows his sight, eyes that cannot hide the intent of wanting to take something from them linger around them. Three pairs to be exact in different locations.

Paulina wondered why they were being followed, but she knows that talking about it is courting danger itself.

The train ride became quiet and the two didn't even bother to look at the other. The sky began to darken and they are inching closer to France.
