**Katherine**

My sister and I sat by the fireplace as we listened to grandpa telling us some stories about the past. "Back in the day hybrids where said to be dangerous and were killed on site." Grandpa says to Emily and I. "Papi what's a hybrid." Emily asked the question that was also roaming in my head. "Well. these were people with two bloods in their system like vampire and werewolf, werewolf and witch or witch and vampire." Grandpa explained. "They were said to be very dangerous trouble makers that were powerful and hard to kill. So the supernatural council gave a rule saying all hybrids should be killed once born or turned." He continued. "When born? Like kill a little baby." I asked as I joined Emily on his laps playing with his hair. "Yes little Katrina." I hated that name it sounded like I was was living centuries ago. But I let grandpa call me because Emily and I called him Papi, a nic name he hated.

"What made hybrids?" I asked. "For vampire\werewolf hybrids they were turned. Their are some special vampires that have blood that can turn a werewolf into a hybrid. For the rest, a hybrid is made when a couple that are of different kinds have kids. Like when a werewolf and a witch have a kid." He replied. "What about a vampire\werewolf hybrid, can't it be born? Emily asked. Grandpa chuckled, "No princess, vampires can not have kids." She furrowed her brows in confusion. "But you and grandma have mommy." She said. 'For real how is it possible, grandpa is a vampire while grandma is a werewolf, he said vampires cannot have kids but they have mum maybe it has to do with him being an original vampire., one of the first vampires to be turned.' i thought to myself. Grandpa smiled, "Yes your grandma and I had a miracle." "So mommy is a hybrid?" Emily and I asked at the same time in shock. How dare she not tell us. Grandpa saw our reaction and chuckled, "You two did not let me finish my story before you started attacking me with questions like you are not just five and eight year old kids." We both looked down, "Continue Papi." "As I was saying. They used to kill all hybrids, but it was unfair for those who found their mates are not of the same species, so the most powerful witches..." "The five?" I cut him. He fringed annoyance and I quickly raised my hands in surrender. "Yes the five, they found a way to bind one part of the child or person so that they can only be one thing, they live the most dominant part." He explained further, now it made sense. "So the werewolf gene was the one dominant in mommy" I mumbled to myself. Then I remembered that vampires and werewolves hate each other so how are grandpa and grandma mated to each other. "Grandpa?" I asked "mhm.'' He replied. "Why do vampires and werewolves hate each other?" He smiled "You are one curious kid, aren't you? Well, a long time ago a witch was in love with a werewolf but fate had other plans." He said, we both looked at him with interest. We loved grandpa's stories. He continued, " The werewolf was fated to a vampire, when the wolf found his mate he told the witch of which she wasn't very pleased. She told the wolf to reject his mate, and as every sane mate, he refused. She was so upset, and envious every time she'd see a vampire and werewolf couple. One night on a blood moon she used all her magic with a bit of the blood moon's power to curse all the vampire and wolves to an eternal hatred, but somehow her curse didn't work on us originals." I think that explains how they worked out with grandma. Then Emily yawned, "I think that's enough of stories for tonight." Grandpa said as he lifted Emily and me. He took us to our room and tacked us in our beds, "Good night loves." Grandpa said. "Goodnight papi." He turned the lights off and left. "So if they didn't discover binding, mommy would have been killed." Emily said. "Sleep Emily, don't think about it. Who knows maybe it's just a made up story, never trust Papi. Not all his stories are true."

I couldn't sleep, I tossed and turned then I heard people talking in whispers. But with my enhanced hearing I could make out a few of what they were saying. As werewolves we have certain abilities, like enhanced hearing, smell and strength. Such abilities started showing at the age of eleven but for some unknown reason mine surfaced at the age of eight. But I haven't told anyone, they already called me a freak because I heal faster than an average alpha. "What do you mean you can't help her, you're the strongest witch we know apart from the five!" I heard my mum whisper yell. "I'm sorry Luna but all her genes all dominant, we can't bind her." A woman's voiced I couldn't recognize said. "And how the hell does she have witch blood in her!?" My mum yelled this time. "Calm down Ciara, you'll awake the kids." I heard dad say. Now my question is who are they talking about. I stood up and leaned on the door to get a better hearing. "How does she have witch blood in her?" Mum asked again this time calm. "I was a witch before we were turned." Grandpa said. Wait what? He was a witch, how? Why is he not still a witch. "Dad? You never told me." Mum said shock clearly heard in her tone. "I didn't think it was necessary, when my siblings and I were banishes from our village they left us for dead. One night on a blood moon, we helped an old lady pick fire wood. After that she was so grateful but she couldn't help us by providing food or shelter because it was against the law to help out castles. But she said she had a way to help us without breaking the law, she told us to give up our magic to her if we wanted to survive without the need of food and water. And so we did, she was a siphoner witch. She sucked our power then used it to turn us into vampires. I didn't know witch blood would still be in my system, that was a thousand years ago." Grandpa explained. "Nina is there anything we can do." My dad asked the woman I now know as Nana. "I'm sorry alpha, but your daughter is what we call a tribrid. She can't be killed neither can she be bound, the only thing I can do for you is teach her everything I know about being a witch. We need to make sure the supernatural council doesn't know about her or else they find a way to kill her or lock her away." Nina said. Wait, did she say daughter? So it's either me or Emily. "So when do you need to start teaching her magic." Mum asked. "How old is she?" The witch Nina asked. "She's eight." My dad said and I swear my heart stopped beating for a while, they were talking about me, I'm the tribrid. "Then we can start now, she's already old enough. All you need to do is tell her." Nina said answering mums question. "I don't think that would be necessary." Grandpa said. Before I knew it, the door opened causing me to fall on my butt. "Ouch." I whimpered in pain. I look up only find Ten eyes looking at me, grandma had been so quiet I didn't even know she was among them. "Hi." I smiled awkwardly, I've been caught. "You must be Katherine, I'm Nina." A lady said, she didn't look older than twenty five. Did mum call this lady powerful? But she so young. "I'm older than I look sweety." She said as though reading my mind. "I assume you heard our conversation?" Nina said more of a statement than a question. I knod. "Good, so you know what a tribrid is?" Again I knod. "Good so I will be your teacher. Till you turn eighteen." She said. "Why eighteen?" I asked. She looked at me sadly, "Because sweetheart when you turn eighteen you'll have to leave home."
