Guests dressed in expensive suits and colorful dresses were seated in the wedding hall, waiting for the wedding to commence. The hall was decorated grandly, the designs screaming the huge amount of money that was spent. Actually, it was a church, decorated grandly to look like a hall.

Anyone would think that the couple about to be wedded was in love. However, a bride who seemed lonely was standing at the foot of the decorated altar.

Becca Swift, dressed in an expensive white wedding dress looked at the entrance of the hall with a clear gaze, not showing if she was hurt or not. The guests thought she was trying to put on a brave front, with the way the groom had not shown up for hours. Becca on the other hand was hoping that her unknown fiancé wouldn't show up.

"Did she think she could sleep her way up the ranks?" A woman seated amidst the guest said, not even keeping her voice down. Her question was directed at her partner but she hoped that the bride would hear her.

"Of course not, Roman knows what he wants. He wouldn't stoop so low to get married to a peasant." The woman's partner said while looking directly at Becca. Their seating position was located where Becca could see and hear them clearly.

"I do not know why Azazel insists on getting her married to Roman. Roman should be married to my daughter instead, hmmp." A woman chipped in with her nose in the air. She was trying to voice her opinion which wasn't needed. Her words were just wishful thinking.

Becca however decided to turn a deaf ear to the whisperings of her groom abandoning her. Inwardly, she thought that it would be better If the wedding was called off. That way, she would go back to her village and continue her peaceful life. However, the groom's father, Azazel was having none of it.

"Did anyone find him?" Azazel Donovan's voice thundered in the almost silent wedding hall. The tone of his voice, made Becca flinch. She looked at the man who was going crazy, he was the head of the world's largest mafia group.

The same man had forced her to get married to his son, Roman Donovan, the heir to the world's largest mafia group. Azazel on the other hand, who was also the wedding planner didn't receive a response to his question as no one present, knew where Roman was.

Becca heard the officiating priest clear his throat and Azazel's head snapped toward the priest's direction. "What do you have to say?" He asked sharply, he didn't think the priest would know where his son was. "I suggest that the wedding be postponed." The priest said while feigning confidence but his voice gave away his hesitation.

Immediately after the priest finished his words, a gun was pointed straight at the priest's head. The priest gulped in fear and the bride, Becca trembled, also in fear. "You will have to stand there and see to it that this wedding is held," Azazel said in a threateningly low voice making the priest nod his head vigorously.

Becca on the other hand was still trembling due to fear. Looking around the wedding hall, she saw that most of the guests weren't fazed by Azazel's action of pointing a gun at the priest. On second thought, she shouldn't be surprised because she had made her little research on who the Donovan s were.

When she was asked by Azazel to get married to his son, Roman, she had surfed the internet, to get information that wasn't hidden. She found out that Donovan's mafia family's business was involved in many countries around the world. The business was largely illegal with active underground dealings which were expected of a mafia family.

With the way, Becca was involved with such a dark family and a supposed rebellious groom she had never met, she didn't see herself getting out of the predicament she was in. This thought made her wonder what her future looked like.

Five men in black suits were lined at the foot of the altar, while Azazel was questioning them. None of the men knew where Roman was. As they looked at each other, none of them wanted to answer Azazel's questions. They knew it was a hassle dealing with Azazel's bad temper.

Becca's hopeful eyes darted from the men in suits to Azazel, hoping they wouldn't answer his questions. Her eyes started to shut in prayer, praying that the groom wouldn't show up. Thinking her prayers would be answered because she was in a church but she was disappointed by the next words she heard.

"The groom is here." Becca's head was quick to snap toward the entrance of the hall, to see the groom being dragged inside. The sound of Azazel's clapping made her cringe because his happiness was her doom. She watched as Roman was dragged toward the altar, his clothes unfit for the occasion.

He was dressed in a white t-shirt with sweat pants, which was hanging dangerously low on his waist, showing off his sexy Adonis belt. His face and neck downward were red due to the alcohol and his limp body exuded a strong smell of alcohol. Roman was however unconscious, making his body limp, and he was made to stand before Becca. At this point, Becca was able to give a thorough look at who she was going to get married to.

Against her expectations, the groom was a handsome young man. Her thoughts were that the groom was old and ugly, but even at this revelation, she still did not want to get married to someone she knew nothing about.

"He is not conscious." The priest said and his words made Becca see a new ray of hope. If Roman didn't wake up, then he wouldn't be able to fulfill his 'fake' vows. The wedding wouldn't take place, that way, Becca would be able to escape the wedding even if it was just for a while.

The groom's father, however, was having none of that, he walked toward his son and landed a heavy hit on his handsome face. To his dismay, Roman didn't give any reaction which caused Azazel to land more hits on his son's face. Becca watched all this and couldn't help but curse Azazel in her mind, 'Just leave him alone and save me the stress.' She thought.

Becca was hoping that Roman wouldn't wake up but the scene that unfolded before her eyes made her almost change her mind. Blood was dripping from the groom's face and no one was trying to save him. Becca then started to have conflicting thoughts about the groom waking up and not waking up.

Roman however put her conflicting thoughts to a halt, as he opened his eyes, which darted around in confusion. He felt the pain from the punches that were landed on his face and got rid of the men holding on to him.

The pain made him sober after all the alcohol he had consumed and his eyes fell on his supposed bride, "Who are you?" He asked, shocking Becca, his father, and the guests.
