“Love task.”

Loti

Loti, just use your magic and take the ring. It’s simple.

Maybe Sister Lucinda believed in this shit, but I didn’t. Stealing a ring from Incubus wasn’t going to be easy or simple. On contrary it was a hell of a challenge, but if I wanted to get accepted to the Fire Coven then I had to steal that damn ring.

I had been waiting for this moment since I was sixteen years old. My mother was part of the Fire Coven, my grandmother and great—grandmother too. This was our family tradition, but none of them had ever told me that they had to complete some ridiculous task.

The streets of Amsterdam were busy tonight. Humans were running around, probably trying to complete the last minute Christmas shopping. During this time of the year everyone were in the hurry. After wondering around The Red Light District, I finally found the club that sister Lucinda had mentioned to me during the coven meeting. Now I was standing outside, trying to decide if I should go in or not. There was a long queue of people by the door, a lot of humans were looking to have some fun this evening. I dragged my fingers through my long dark hair and hesitated. There was something wrong, I didn’t know what, but I had this uneasy feeling in my gut that indicated that entering the club tonight was a bad idea. Sister Lucinda assured me that Maxwell Henderson was working tonight, so this was my chance. I couldn’t bail, just because I was afraid that something might go wrong.

Tonight I went for a black winter coat, that covered my skimpy red dress underneath it. I sprayed my cleavage with glitter at home, done my make up and overall I was pleased with how I looked. Human men often told me that I was beautiful. That wasn’t very important, but as far I knew I was in Max’s type and that boosted my confidence a little.

I didn’t wait in the queue, but walked to the front, approaching the bouncer that guarded the door. I sprinkled some invisible fairy dust all over my lips. It was an old trick, that could help me to get inside the club without any problems.

“Have you got any ID love?” the bouncer automatically asked, looking slightly confused. Other people in the queue were glaring at me. I ignored them, smiled and ran my finger over bouncer’s arm.

“No, do I really need one handsome?” I asked, fluttering my long black eyelashes. My mother was from Puerto Rico and Dad was from Netherlands. I didn’t like brag about my background, but my exotic look was always easy on the eye. The fairy dust began working it’s magic, because the bouncer had that confused and hazy expression on his face.

“Of course not. Get inside, and take this card with complimentary drink on the house,” he blurted out, pulling a plastic gold card from his front pocket. Some people started complaining, so I quickly grabbed the the card and entered the club. In the past I have seduced plenty humans, but I have never gotten close to an Incubus demon. I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

I took off my coat and left it in the cloak room, then headed towards the bar. I noticed a few lusty stares from human men around me, but that was nothing new. Their interest were flattering, but tonight I was only interested in one man. The bar was packed, so I waited patiently for the barman to notice me. Several minutes later I had a very cute wolf shifter right in front of me. I thought that he could help me with locating Maxwell Henderson. There was a rumour that Max didn’t like spending a lot of time around women, that they bored him. If Incubus demon looked at any human woman, she was his regardless. Most men would love being in his position, but something was telling me that he wasn’t overall pleased with that kind of attention.

Witches were supposed to be immune to his Incubus nature.

“What can I get you?” the handsome blond shifter asked. He had Australian accent, and wore a sleeveless shirt that exposed his muscular abs. In any other circumstances I would have been interested, but not tonight.

“Martini with lemonade please,” I said, handing him the gold card. He glanced at it briefly and a surprised flickered through his vibrant green eyes.

“Coming right up,” he said and disappeared to make my favourite drink. I glanced around the dance floor, using my magic and hoping to spot Maxwell somewhere in the crowd. The women and men were moving in the rhythm of music on the dance floor. There was a mixture of people around here, majority of them were human women wearing next to nothing, exposing their hot bodies clearly hoping to go home with a man in the end of the night.

The cute barman came back and passed me the drink. He had my gold card, so the bill was settled.

“Here you go gorgeous,” he said, and I touched his hand when he was just about to walk away to serve another customer. There was no point using my magic on him, he already sensed that I was a witch.

“Hey, can you tell me where I could find your boss? Maxwell Henderson?” I asked sweetly, bitting my bottom lip. The shifter’s eyes gleamed with dangerous energy.

“Try the VIP lounge. I have seen him around, but during busy night like this, he can be anywhere,” he responded. His tone of voice indicated that Maxwell was unpredictable. I appreciated his concern, but I was aware of the risks. I needed to get that ring no matter what.

“Thank you handsome,” I responded, flashing him one of my best smiles.

“The man consumes women like you in one evening love. If you want to keep your magic, stay away from him,” he whispered to me. None of other customers paid any attention to us, but I felt his power moving slowly through my body. This never had happened to me before, so I was a little surprised that his energy affecting me in this way.

“I’m a big girl, so I can take care of myself,” I said, trying to gain control of my own magic. He let me go, and looked like he wanted to say more, but I was already walking away.

Shortly after that, I located the VIP lounge and concentrated on my magical energy. I had a few spells that I wanted to try it out tonight.

It was time to get into my act. The bouncer that stood outside the entrance to VIP lounge was a human. Another sprinkle of fairy dust and I was already heading over to my table inside the lounge.

I spotted Maxwell straight away, he had a tall blond woman that was literary hanging over him. There were other women around him too, all trying to talk, to get him to notice them. Incubus was a powerful being that could seduced any woman. They would lose their normal control around him.

I already knew what I had to do, but still this whole task seemed almost impossible. Every woman in the VIP lounge was staring at him, and they were all very beautiful. Maxwell was talking to another man in a suit, and he wasn’t even paying attention to the blond that was touching his arm. I sat down right opposite him, crossed my leg and glanced around. There was a dark haired man on the opposite table and a sudden idea pop into my head.

I knew that it wouldn’t take me long to get his attention, curiosity and indifference were very strong emotions. I was the only woman in the lounge that was intentionally ignoring him. Eventually the man on the next table started talking to me. His name was Logan and he was an investment banker. We laughed and talked about his job in the city. I could get into this act easily, pretend that we were into each other. At the corner of my eye I noticed that Incubus had noticed the fact that I didn’t even glance into his direction and I bet he didn’t like it. Logan was Dutch, he was really interested in taking me home tonight.
