A bucket of cold water dumped on Salma's head jerking her awake from the deep slumber she was having. "What the hell?" She yelled standing on her feet in haste rubbing the water off her face with her rough top.

"How can a lowlife servant like still be sleeping till this time?" Lady Beatrice, the servant's manager barked angrily and a low sigh left Salma's mouth.

She was the only one that could wake her up like that, she hated her gut more than anything. "I'm sorry, I will get to work now." She answered still in shock, she blinked severally so the water could leave her eyes.

Her eyes went to the half-destroyed clock on the wall and was shocked to see the time. "It's 6:40 am, I still had twenty minutes more."

Beatrice scoffed, "Maybe in your father's house."

Her statement brought tears to her eyes, this witch woman knew she was an orphan yet she reminded her of it every day.

"Today is the ceremony day, you were supposed to be up by 6:30 am." She barked and her eyes bulged out.

"Oh my, the ceremony day?" She gasped with bulge out, she had literally forgotten that their Alpha was going to be holding the Alpha's dinner party this year.

"Yes." She rolled her eyes. "Well, as your punishment, you were going to be among the servants that would be serving in the palace today."

"What? Please you can not do that to me." She sobbed and Beatrice only scoffed then walked out saying nothing. She loved to see her suffer.

Salma slowly slid to the floor but quickly rose to her feet because of the wet floor. Serve in the palace? She had never done that since she started working here and she was grateful for that. The palace was not a great place to work because of their Alpha, he was so wicked and heartless, that a lot of rumors circled around about him.

Now she was going to be working at the palace today, the freaking ceremony day, serving bunches of rude Alphas. They could molest the servants and beat them and nothing would be done to them because they have higher ranks than them. Such a stupid world!

Salma packed her wet bedspread which also served as her bed from the floor while rolling her eyes, now she was going to sleep on the floor today. Using the opportunity that the room was empty, she decided to have her bath before the other servants came around and started to mock her about her skinny body.

She shared the room with another five servants and she was the only one that got to sleep on the floor while the others had bunk beds.

After having her bath, she went to meet Beatrice maybe she would change her mind but she didn't so she left for the palace muttering a prayer to the moon goddess.

From morning till evening, she hadn't had a single rest, she had been on her feet going from one errand to another and now it was finally dinner time, and hell no; she was not going there again so she would be roaming around the bathroom hallway all evening.

"I heard the Alpha is going to announce his Luna today." The gossip from the bathroom stall made her stop roaming about and move closer to where the voice was coming from.

"Yeah, since he hadn't found his mate." Another voice came up.

"The Alpha was mateless?" Wow!" She muttered to herself. Well, it shouldn't be shocking, the Alpha was ruthless, to begin with.

"Yeah, I must not miss the announcement." The first girl giggled before they stepped out.

Salma watched as they walked away swaying their hips thinking about their last sentence. Well, she must not miss this also. She thought finding her way to the party.

Before she reached the party the stench of alcohol already plunged into her nose, she shook her head in disgust; typical of the rich people.

"Why are you not working?" A voice yelled at her and she gasped before rushing to grab a drinks-filled tray. She had literally forgotten that she was on duty.

Stepping into the party, a sweet scent welcomed her, something of chocolate mixed with rich sandalwood filled her head. She closed her eyes reliving in the scent before snapping them open when the truth dawned on her.

"Mate!" She whispered looking her around and her eyes met with a pair of blue piercings at her from across the room, a beautiful lady in an expensive red gown in his arms.

"Mate," She watched him say with his eyes fixed on her but his attention was diverted from her by a man who should be in his early fifties.

"Alpha Xander," He called and the tray in her hands fell to the floor creating a loud sound that directed every gaze in the room to her.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," She panicked squatting to the floor, she picked up the shattered glasses quickly and a shred of glass pierced her palm.

She winced biting her lips but didn't stop, she felt a lot of gazes on her especially one particular one. She didn't even know what to do, she was so nervous that she kept picking up the shattered glasses and dropping them on the floor.

"Leave them." A rich thick voice commanded and her hand stopped in mid-air, she glanced up and her eyes wide up seeing that it was the Alpha that gave out the order.

He signaled to another servant to help her, her mouth was hung open as she stayed in the same position for some minutes before the servant tapped her shoulder and helped her up.

"Thank you." She muttered to her before glancing at the Alpha again, to her surprise he was pecking the lady in his arms on her lips. Tears dropped from her eyes as she rushed out.

He was nothing but a jerk as he was described, tears kept pouring from her eyes as she made her way to the bathroom. Today had been the worst day of her miserable servant life, she found her mate after years of fantasizing about it and he turned out to be her Alpha.

For a moment there, she thought maybe just maybe he would acknowledge her and show her to the world but that was only in her dream.

For hours she locked herself in the bathroom crying that she didn't know when she passed out. She got out only to find Beatrice standing by the sink with her arms crossed under her breasts.

"The Alpha sent for you."
