It was midnight in Errado. The dim streetlamps were the only source of light in the dark neighborhood. With a backpack on her shoulder, Annie Clarke was walking out from a narrow alley.

It was a relatively old neighborhood, crisscrossed with narrow, dark alleys. Today, Annie was here to interview an old translator who persisted in working even though she was already in her 80s. The interview had long been completed in the afternoon, but the old lady didn't bear to let her leave because it had been a long time since somebody visited her. Living alone with a nanny, she didn't have many chances to chat with young people.

As the old lady stayed in a rather remote area of the neighborhood, Annie found that the surrounding residents must have already fallen asleep because there was nobody on the street. Casting her gaze on the moon, she sighed and continued walking.

However, she couldn't find her way out after walking different paths and felt as though she was in a maze. Just as she was frustrated, she heard somebody shouting weakly for help and some rustling sound not far away.

"Shut up!" a man warned.

Walking over in the direction of the voice, Annie saw four men pulling a woman toward a dark alley while the woman was holding on to the wall desperately and shouting desperately. Soon, her mouth was covered by one of the men, her voice muffled.

How could such things happen in a lawful society?!

"Let her go!" Annie said coldly with her arms crossed. Under the streetlights, she looked tall and brave.

However, when a man saw that it was a woman, he immediately laughed. Walking to Annie, he told his friends, "Hey, she's quite beautiful too. Let's catch her and have fun tonight."

Little did he know that Annie would take out a bottle of pepper spray and spray it on his face.

"Ah! D*mn you, b*tch!" The man covered his eyes and cried out in pain, but he soon became boiling with anger. "Hey! Tie this b*tch up too!"

Hearing this, two of the men came over and wanted to catch her. Hurriedly, Annie sprayed the pepper spray on one man but missed the other, giving the latter the chance to grab her and slap her across her face.

"Who let you be a busybody, b*tch? How dare you hurt my friend!" The man held her arms with one hand and slapped her face with the other, scolding.

"Run away now, miss. They are from a gang. They'll kill you." The woman who had been caught cried and shouted.

"Run away? No one can escape today!" The man who slapped Annie said coldly and his fierce voice made people around feel a chill running down their spines.

"Is that so? I wish to have a try!" Another steely voice rang from the alley. There was a tall figure, and the dim, yellow lights made his shadow long and eerie.

"Ha! Why are there so many idiots tonight?! Aren't you all afraid of death?!" The man who had been attacked by the pepper spray recovered. Standing up straight, he sneered and seemed to have forgotten the pain he had suffered.

However, the man who just showed up didn't give them another second to think and beat them all in a blink of an eye. In comparison to his agile moves, the four men weren't a match. They were now groaning on the ground.

Seeing this, the woman fled without saying thank you.

Stroking her swollen cheek, Annie gave all the men lying on the ground a hard kick in their groins, making them scream in pain.

"Well, it's true that women are the most vicious!" teased the man who just saved them.

"It's you, Zachary!" Annie couldn't hide her shock. She bumped into him in such a remote place!
