I… I can’t believe it, Ella! It’s.. It’s a miracle. I couldn't imagine this happening! Finally, I can finally have a glimpse you! I'm looking at myself!

Jenna! I have fully healed my eyes!

Emma says, looking into the mirror at herself. I walk towards her as I comfort her, holding her in my arms, having teardrops falling down my eyes. I held her for a minute after pushing back and I could see all the excitement and the feeling of being reborn in her eyes now that they were fully working.

“Now you don’t have to be afraid of the darkness, Emma. I told you from the start that you’re going to see colours again!” I say.

“You’ve always believed in me, Jenna, thank you.”

Suddenly, Emma’s expression changes from happiness to sadness. I could easily read her like an open book, what she was feeling and what she was thinking about at this moment. Call it a twin thing.

“Come on, Emma, Don’t think about the past. It’ll only wear you down,” I say, trying not to think about it myself.

“I know. I just can’t seem to forget about it.”

“Yeah, I say, going deep into my mind and recapping what happened and how it happened.”

— Past incident —

“Emma? EMMA?! What hurts? Tell me!” I ask frantically. As I see our father’s mistress burning down the entire house, trying to get us into the flames as well.

My.. My eyes Jenna! They… I can’t see! My eyes… They hurt. I can’t see Jenna!

—-Present—-

“Hey, Emma! Snap out of it. I take her hands in mine. I know how much terrible it would have been to face a situation at the young age of only 6. But now, look how it turned out for us.”

“I know, I’m sorry.” Apologises Emma.

“Hey now, Don’t be. It's me who should apologise to you protecting me with your arms that day. I had insight into something that you were blind to for years. I was the reason you had to suffer.”

“But you’ve always protected me, Jenna, all those years.”

“You’re my sister. I’ll always protect you, I swore, didn’t I?”

We both had a little giggle as I quickly remember an important thing.

“Hey, I sign Emma to lean her ears towards me as I whisper, Don’t let daddy know you can see again, okay? You know how his business mind works. He wouldn’t think twice before sacrificing us for money.”

“I know, she whispers back.”

As we were about to celebrate more, the door swings open and see Father walking into the room.

“Emma, I’m getting you married.” He says.

“What?! To whom?” Ask Emma, confused.

“Kaiden Knight.”

“Isn’t he a Mafia leader, Daddy?” I’ve heard about him. He abuses women for sports daddy. How can you let gangster marry Emma? She’s your daughter!

“Who are you to intrude into the marriage, Jenna? You’re going to get married as well, on the same day as your sister. You’ll be marrying the one and only Ken Jones.”

“You’re marrying us to a gangster and a playboy? What’s wrong with you? Do you even hear yourself?! She’ll die the second she’ll set foot in his house! You can not do this to us, Daddy.” I say.

“Eh, not until she’ll give him the only thing he wants, an heir. After all, that’s the only thing she can give him. She can do nothing else. I watch him ignore my accusations and he turns to walk away.”

“You’re a monster!”

“What did you just say, Jenna?”

“I said you’re a monster! You don’t deserve to be our father! You were never our father! And you never will be! Why couldn’t you just leave us alone before, you demon?” I let all my anger out once and for all.

He walks immediately towards me and slaps me so hard that I fell to the ground. I could feel a sweet and salty metallic taste as I figure I cut my lip, and it was bleeding.

Emma rushes towards me and sits down right beside me.

“Are you okay, Jenna?”

“I’m fine, don’t worry.” I pass her a weak smile to cover my pain.

“Do as I say, or else Kaiden won’t be the one to kill her. I’ll do it myself!”

“You both will get married on the 25th of the next month. Don’t come near me again or else I’ll do what nobody wants.”

He lets out his true feelings about us, that we were nothing to him. He slams the door behind him, leaving us both caged into his command.

“Let’s leave, Jenna. Says Emma.”

“What?”

“Let’s get out of here, Run, and let our lives be like we want to.”

“Let’s escape this hell together.”
