After a bout of early spring rain, bright sunlight illuminated Brostone City.

The fresh smell of dew and grass permeated the air. A beautiful rainbow hung in the sky, and everything seemed completely picture-perfect.

Hayley Robertson, though, did not have the leisure to appreciate these beautiful sceneries.

Carrying a suitcase, she stood outside the luxurious villa in front of her, a scornful look on her face. "Hah, it's been five years..."

She never expected to one day return there.

That place used to be her safe harbor, but had since morphed into a den of lions.

She recalled how five years ago, not long after her mother went missing, her father brought his mistress into the family and a step-sister who was only a little younger than her.

Never in Hayley's wildest dreams had she imagined that her father, who had always been so loving, could actually betray her mother.

The mother-daughter pair were truly powerful. It had not even been half a year after they entered the family when they succeeded in maliciously destroying her relationship with her father. The result of that was Hayley being exiled from the family.

Her father had turned a blind eye to her over the past five years.

Out of the blue, three days ago, he suddenly called her and asked her to return home to break off her engagement.

"Hayley, the Morris family doesn't agree to your engagement. You aren't worthy of the young master of the Morris family, so you have to cancel the engagement personally. I have already made an appointment with them. You should come back and deal with it as soon as possible. Don't cause any trouble for the Robertson family."

Her father's words echoed in his mind. Hayley's eyes were full of scorn, belying a trace of hatred.

If it were possible, she never wanted to return and see these disgusting people's loathsome faces!

Just as she was lost in her thoughts, the elaborate iron door in front of her suddenly opened from the inside.

An old man in a black suit came out.

When he saw Hayley, he was shocked. He asked hesitantly, "Miss... Miss Hayley?"

Hayley collected herself and looked at the old man, recognizing him as the butler of the household. She couldn't help but sneer to herself, "How surprising that there's someone here who remembers me."

"Miss Hayley, what are you saying? There's no way this family doesn't remember you."

The butler answered with a fake smile.

At that, Hayley could not suppress gritting her teeth.

That man looked the same as ever, even after five years had passed.

Back then, he had been bribed by that mother-daughter pair to ruin her relationship with her father.

Hayley being exiled from the household was partly his doing.

Hayley didn't want to spend time catering to the butler's nonsense. She snorted and dragged her luggage into the house.

With a stony face, the old butler immediately followed her.

When they entered the living room, a burst of laughter erupted.

Hayley looked over and saw the mother and daughter sitting on the sofa.

Josie Wells, the mother, was in her forties but still maintained her beauty well. She still looked charming, with natural makeup on and a tight-fitting dress, making her look younger than her age. She looked like she was only in her early 30s.

As for her step-sister, Alice Robertson, she looked very much like her mother. She was also very beautiful and wore luxury brands from head to toe, giving off the impression that she was a wealthy young lady.

The two of them were sitting on the sofa, chatting about trending clothes at the moment.

Hayley seethed in anger.

It was them!

It was those two b*tches who stole her home and family five years ago!

Right then, the butler walked past her and went straight to Josie. He said respectfully, "Madam Josie, Miss Alice, Miss Hayley has returned.."

Josie and Alice instantly turned to look at Hayley.

Hayley looked away, not bothering to be polite, and turned to go upstairs.

Josie frowned and rebuked her, "Hayley, you haven't even greeted me. It seems that you've become more and more ill-mannered since you've been abroad all these years."

Alice didn't say anything. She just looked Hayley up and down. There was obviously a hint of jealousy in her gaze.

After five years, that b*tch had become even more beautiful.

Although she was only wearing a casual dress, it could not hide her beauty. Her delicate features were as though they were hand-crafted by angels.

Alice gritted her teeth silently, wishing she could slice that perfect face open.

Of course, Alice's jealous gaze did not escape Hayley.

Hayley merely looked the two over icily and said in a sarcastic tone, "Manners? Since when does a mistress care about manners?"

Josie's expression darkened immediately, as her rage flared up.

The title of "mistress" had always been shameful to her. Over the past few years, it had taken her a lot of effort to get rid of it. That little b*tch Hayley just had to bring it up again.

Seeing her mother being ridiculed, Alice could not hold herself back from stepping in. "Hayley, my mother is your elder, no matter what has happened between us. How could you say such a thing?"

Hayley sneered. "What kind of elder is she? She's just a homewrecking sl*t. To me, you're just an illegitimate b*stard daughter too. It's just too bad that my father, the idiot that he is, was fooled by you."

Alice was infuriated.

How dare she call her an illegitimate b*stard!

"Hayley, do you think that you can do whatever you want here?"

Alice took two quick steps forward, intending to give Hayley a harsh slap.

However, while her hand was still in mid-air, it was stopped by Josie.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

Alice's anger had not subsided as she barked that question out.

Josie glanced at her, comforting her, "My dear daughter, are you going to bite back when a dog bites you? Aren't you afraid of dirtying yourself?"

Hearing that, Alice gave up the idea of beating Hayley for the time being.

The anger in Hayley's eyes intensified. "Who are you calling a dog?"

Josie noticed her rage, but that provocation was simply not enough. She smirked and continued, "Does that matter? Hayley, rather than spending your time arguing with me, why don't you think about how to save your engagement instead? Oh, right, I nearly forgot that the Morris family thinks that you're beneath them. That's why they forced you to return here and break off the engagement."

Josie deliberately raised her voice, her tone dripping with scorn. "Alas! Not everyone can get close to esteemed families. Unlike my Alice here, she's been courted left and right by the sons of rich and powerful families since she was 18. Soon, she will be engaged to the eldest son of the Meyer family, Samuel. In the future, she will be Miss Meyer, an important status in society indeed."

Hearing those demeaning words towards herself, and praise towards Alice, Hayley sneered right back, "Esteemed families? Only mistresses who aren't worthy of respect on their own would scheme to marry into an esteemed family and break up their households! I was born to a rich family and am accustomed to that life since birth. I don't care about marrying rich."

"Hayley, you!!!"

Josie's face turned livid with anger.

Alice looked even more enraged.

Over the past decade or so, the mother and daughter had indeed been provided for secretly by Luke Robertson. They had led shady lives and suffered all kinds of grievances.

That was a thorn in their hearts.

Hayley really knew how to rub it in.

Hayley's patience had lapsed and she no longer wanted to speak to the two. She turned around, took her luggage, and went upstairs with a final sentence, "Don't call me for dinner. After I rest enough, I'll come down on my own."

Josie and Alice watched her leave, gnashing their teeth in hatred.

...

After Hayley went upstairs, she did not go to her room first. She headed for her mother's room.

However, the moment the door was opened, what she saw inside caused her shock and anger to erupt!

That place was no longer the one in her memory.

She and her mother's favorite bed had been replaced by a dreamy princess-style bed.

All her mother's belongings were gone, and even the decor of the room had been changed. All of the things there had become Alice's.

"Alice!"

Hayley gritted her teeth, glaring at Alice's photo on the wall. She clenched his fists and dug her nails deeply into his palm. The pain did not faze her, for she was already so angry that she could not feel it.

At that moment, Alice and Josie came from behind Hayley with a smug smile on their faces.

Hayley gnashed her teeth. "Alice, who allowed you to touch my mother's room? Move out immediately!"

Alice curled the corners of her mouth into a smile. "Why should I move out? Dad was the one who asked me to occupy that room."

Amidst Hayley's anger, a chill ran through her heart.

Was that man truly that heartless?

He didn't even want to keep a single room the way it was.

Looking at Hayley's shocked expression, Alice went on without empathy, "By the way, I forgot to tell you that the other rooms in the house have been occupied by servants, including your room. If you don't mind, there is still a shed in the backyard for you to live in for the time being."

Alice felt more smug the more she spoke. In her mind, she was picturing Hayley moving into that shed.

Hayley's temper had reached its boiling point when she heard that.

That place was her home!

However, to the mother-daughter pair, she couldn't even compare to the servants!

"The gardener's shed? I'll leave it for you to live in."

Hayley glared at Alice and gnashed her teeth.

She should have known that after she left, there would no longer be a place for her in this family.
