Maga

The trees outside were lush green again, and so is my life it's been two weeks since that whole ordeal with Ian, and I feel like that happened like a lifetime ago. After I got discharged from the hospital, I went to meet Ian one last time before I came back to England, and after speaking to him, I feel like there was something different in him.

Flashback...

It took me three hours to come to this prison since it was located on the outskirts of Madrid. The prison had huge brick walls with barbed wires to prevent anyone from escaping, but I know that is not going to keep the prisoners in because all the prisoners here are enchantadors, and that is when I felt the magic that was pulsing around the high walls.

“Ma’am, you can't go in there without a pass.” the guard standing near the iron door informed me when he saw my car parked.

“I am Sarina Marco, I am one of the members of the council of magic, and I represent the Sanchez family. This is my ID.” I told the guard and handed him a card that had a barcode on the reverse side of the card. The guard took my card and scanned it in his computer, and the lights above the gates instantly turned green.

“Sorry, Mrs.Marco, I didn't recognize you.” the guard sincerely apologized, and I gave him a pleasant smile before starting my car and driving inside. Once I reached the prison office, I parked my car and walked towards the reception.

“Good morning, Mrs.Marco, I didn't know that you would come to visit. Mr.Marco didn't tell me anything about that.” the guard in the reception asked me.

“Well, he doesn't know that I am here, and I hope you don't inform him either,” I spoke with a pointed look, and I saw the guard gulp before he nodded his head.

“I will not tell him, but if I may know who you are going to visit here?” he questioned.

“I would like to meet Ian Hernandez,” I told him with a straight face.

“But Mrs.Marco, your husband clearly instructed us that you are not supposed to meet him if by any chance you come here to meet him.” the guard said, and I knew Ashton would do this.

“Well, before I am a Marco, I am a Sanchez and a rightful member of the council of magic, so I hope you know that you can't deny me access,” I asked him.

“Yes, ma’am, you are right, but..” I raised my hand, preventing the guard from continuing to speak.

“I can fire you this instant if you disrespect a member of the council of magic, so I suggest that you do what is best for your job,” I warned him. I know I am being a bitch here but I have no other way to meet Ian since Ashton has forbidden me from seeing him so I had to sneak from the mansion and take a huge risk, just to speak to Ian.

“You can go and see him, ma’am, but I think I can only give you half an hour to talk.” the guard stammered, and I smirked at him.

“Sure, I don't mind,” I told him, and the guard quickly logged in my details in the computer before leading me through a dingy hallway. There were closed doors on both sides of the hallway, and we entered the last door down the hallway. The room was small, with only a wooden table and two chairs.

“Please take a seat, I will bring Mr.Hernandez in within a few minutes.” the guard said before scurrying out of the room. After five minutes, I heard the door open again, and the guard brought Ian inside. He was wearing a white shirt and pants, and his hair was roughly combed, with a week-old beard on his face, once Ian took a seat, the guard locked both his hands on the wooden table before turning towards me.

“Ma’am, you have half an hour to speak to the prisoner.” the prison guard informed me, and I gave him a curt nod, and soon after, I heard the metal door close again, leaving Ian and me alone.

“So, how are you doing?” I asked him after a prolonged silence.

“The prison life is great. I think I would like to spend the rest of my life here.” Ian replied sarcastically with a smile on his face.

“So, how is married life going for you?” he asked me.

“Just peachy,” I replied.

“I know you didn't do any of that intentionally, Ian. I know you more than that.” I spoke, and he smiled before shaking his head.

“I did a lot of things in life without an intention, Sarina,” he spoke, and I noticed that there was sadness and remorse in his eyes, there was something that Ian isn't telling me, so without being suspicious, I tried using my powers to read his mind, but I came out blank.

“Your powers won't work here, this whole place is surrounded, by a magic barricade,” Ian said.

“Even if my powers did work I don't think I will be able to read your mind,” I told him.

“And may I know why is that?” he asked me.

“I don't think I want to talk to you about my problems,” I told him coldly, and after that, there was a tense silence in the room.

“Why did you try to kill me, Ian?” I asked him, and I saw a painful look cross over his face.

“I will never kill you, Sarina, and that day in the woods, I didn't know what came over me but trust me, I would never want to harm you. I love you too much, damnit!” Ian yelled the last part out, which left me shocked and breathless. Did Ian say that he loves me?

“You are lying,” I whispered, not believing a word that he just said, and he let out a humorless laugh.

“I have always loved you, Sarina, but when I saw that Ashton was your soulmate, I couldn't take it anymore, so I tried to kill him, but now that I think of it, I know that what I did was wrong,” Ian said.

“If you truly loved me that much then you wouldn't have tried to kill Celine back in the academy or kidnapped June or send all those creepy notes,” I yelled at him, and I saw a confused look on his face.

“I admit that I kidnapped June, but I never send you creepy notes, I only left one note, and that was the day I banged you on the head, and I never attempted to kill Celine. Sarina, there is someone out there who is more dangerous than me.” Ian said.

“So you never send those letters?” I asked him, and he shook his head.
