It was dark, and I couldn’t see my surroundings. Then there was unbearable pain in my chest. I threw up blood but suddenly tasted different blood in my mouth for a few seconds. It was sweet.

“Drink my blood! Hurry!”

The voice! It was a familiar voice, but I couldn’t remember whose voice it was. Who could it be?

“Open your mouth and drink my blood, please. Victoria, hurry!”

Victoria? Who was it?

“I don’t think I can survive any longer. My time has come ….”

“What are you talking about? First, you will give birth to our baby. Then I will marry you.”

Suddenly, my eyes were wet, and I cried. But, though the hurt in my chest was tremendous, happiness filled my heart.

Then it was dark. “Constantine!” I shouted.

“Anna! Anna!” My body was shaken softly. “Please, Anna, don’t leave me! What can I do without you?”

Who was Anna? What happened? I wanted to open my eyes, but it was too much. Even the slightest move was hard.

“Anna, please, don’t leave me! If you die, I will kill myself too. How can I face another bully from Jack and his gang?” Another shaking on my body, then a devastated crying voice was louder. “Anna, what can I do without you? I’m not as strong and brave as you. Who will defend me when Jack wants to torture me?”

Torture? What on earth was happening here? I took a deep breath to say something, but my throat was dry. “W-water ….”

“Oh, Anna! You are conscious! Thank You, the Highest One!” Then the woman’s voice was more gentle now. “I will get you water.”

After a moment, my body was pulled to the sitting position. “Here is your water. Anna, open your eyes.”

I wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn’t do it. I shook my head. “W-water ….”

The woman then gave me the water. I gulped it greedily. “More. I need more water.”

“Okay, please wait. I will get you more water.”

I took another breath and opened my eyes. I was on a thin, worn-out bed in a shabby room. Then there was an ugly and smelly blanket that covered my body. I set it aside.

Later, I remembered something. I opened my mouth and touched my teeth with my fingers. What’s going on? I shook my head. No!

That was when the woman returned to the room with a glass of water. “Anna! You can open your eyes! Oh, Anna, you don’t know how relieved I am!” She put the glass on the table, then hugged me. “I thought you would die. You didn’t appear to the surface when Jack threw you into the lake. I thought you were drowning.”

My head was spinning. I couldn’t think. “Water, please.”

The woman helped me to drink more. “What are you feeling right now?”

“Much better, but why do you call me Anna? I’m not Anna. I’m Victoria.”

The woman frowned and shook her head. “No, you’re Anna—Anna Warren.”

“Who?” But then I realized I didn’t know her either. “So, who are you?”

“Oh, no! Maybe you lose your memory after drowning.” The woman then sat on the chair next to the bed since the bed was too small for us. “I’m Melanie Wood. You used to call me Mel. You are Anna Warren. We are twenty-five, Omega in the Wild Wolves Pack.”

“Omega?” I blinked my eyes a few times. “Don’t tell me …. Can you get me a mirror?”

“Sure!” Melanie ran to get me a hand mirror.

When I looked at myself in the mirror, I knew it was Victoria Lewis’s face. Long red hair, a pair of green eyes, white skin, and a great body. I sighed, too relief to see that I had lost nothing. But when I opened my mouth, I yelped then covering my mouth with a hand. “No! It can’t be!”

“Anna? What’s wrong?”

I shook my head a few times. “It can’t be!”

“Anna? You scare me! Please, don’t be like this.”

“Mel, tell me. What are we?” Melanie looked at me as if I were losing my mind. “Are we werewolves?”

Melanie stared at me as if I had grown thorns on my head. “Of course, we are werewolves. We are she-wolves, to be exact.” She grinned. Her dimples made her look sweet. Her oval face, short black hair, brown eyes, and brown skin are exotic. Her full lips look hot, but it’s too bad she was too shy.

“Please tell me what happened before I was conscious,” I asked her again.

“Well, Jack and his gang made fun of us as usual.”

“Jack?”

“Jack Black, the Zeta of our pack. I don’t know why, but he has targeted me from the time he saw me. Since you are always there to protect me, he targets you too. But three days ago, he went too far.”

“What happened?” I leaned my head on the pillow.

“He kissed me and wanted to touch me. I screamed, and you showed up to help. Usually, Jack only asked his gang to torture us by using bamboo. If Beta Cameron didn’t help you, you might ...” Melanie didn’t continue her words and sobbed. “I’m so glad our Beta helped you. But since then, you have lost your consciousness.”

“How long have I been unconscious?” I asked.

“Three days.”

I let out a sigh. “Who is Beta Cameron?”

“He is Jack’s brother, the Beta of our pack, but he will soon be the Alpha tomorrow.”

“Oh? Why?”

“Because he will mate Lisa Shadow, a Delta of the Hurricane Dawn Pack.”

“Marrying her makes him the Alpha of our pack? How convenient!” I laughed and shook my head.

“No, you’re wrong. Beta Cameron doesn’t need to marry Delta Lisa, but he did it to merge the two packs under him. At least that’s what I heard.”

“Shortly, he wants the power.”

“Maybe.” Melanie sighed, then she clucked her tongue. “I don’t know, but he often observes you from afar.”

“Why?” It seemed both siblings were weird. Jack often bullied Melanie and I, while his brother liked observing me from a distance.

“I don’t know. Maybe he wants you.”
