Today was our anniversary, our marriage anniversary. I prepared all the foods and even made an effort in decorating the place.

In the end, he didn’t show up.

“Ma’am Elizabeth.” One of the guards uttered my name.

I moved my gaze towards him.

“I have been informed that Sir Mark is still on a late night meeting.” He explained.

I nodded then gave him a smile.

“What don’t you call the rest of the security.” I said, they’re always with me since they are my personal bodyguards.

“Ma’am?” He asked, confused.

“Call them, you can eat this dinner.” I said, “It’ll be a waste just to throw these things.” I added it before going near the sea.

I requested to have our wedding anniversary in the beach house because I wanted him to have some peace.

“He didn’t show up again.” I uttered onto myself.

Tears started dropping from my eyes before I could know it, I was already crying right by the sea.

“Are you alright?” Someone asked.

I looked up to see who it was. It was a man, in his beach trunks.

“Why are you crying right by the sea?” He asked. “Are you injured?” He asked, before levelling with me.

I immediately shook my head in response to what he said.

“Nah. I’m okay.” I said, then wiped my tears away.

He smiled.

“Do you have problems?” He asked. “I wouldn’t mind listening to it.”

I smiled and before I couldn’t think about it. I was already sharing my life stories to him.

“Then ask for divorce.”

I moved my gaze towards him.

“What?”

He smiled at me. “You just said it yourself, you’re no longer happy with your marriage. It gives you pain and nothing else. He wouldn't even look at you, spare you sometime.” He said. “Why stay in a stupid marriage when you can literally ask for divorce and have the rest of you life happy?”

I remained quiet.

“You’re parents are dead, you just told me about it. So why still sacrifice yourself in staying in the marriage you’re not okay with.” He added.

I couldn’t speak at all because deep inside I know he was right. I could now be free in this marriage, and be happy for the rest of my life.

“Ask for divorce and even if he doesn't agree. Make him agree, because your own happiness is at stake here.”

He stood up.

“Would you rather live the rest of your life in pain or fight for your freedom and be happy?”

When we got back to the mansion, the next morning and the first thing I did was to fix myself. I was stupid afterall, why would I spend the rest of my life in pain when I could literally be happy?

“Ma’am Elizabeth.” Someone knocked.

“Yes?”

“Sir Mark just arrived at the dining table.” She said. “He’s requesting to have breakfast with you.”

“Alright. I’ll be there.” I replied before returning my gaze towards the mirror.

It’s time, it’s time for me to have my own happiness.

When I got down, Mark was already at the dining table, and so was his assistant. He’s always with his assistant.

“Good Morning.” He greeted me then his forehead creased upon seeing me.

I pressed both of my lips together.

This is the very first time he’ll be seeing me looking like this, wearing bold color lipstick, skirt and fitted blouse to flaunt my coke-like body.

“You look quite different, today.” Mark stated.

I remained quiet and started eating without acknowledging his presence at all.

It was about dessert, when I cleared my throat to have his attention. He moved his gaze towards me.

“Do you mind asking your assistant to leave?” I asked. “I have something important to tell you.”

Mark’s forehead creased at first before eventually nodding at me.

“What do you want to say that requires my assistant not to be here?” He asked, confused while taking a bite of the desert.

I pressed both of my lips together.

“Let’s get divorce.”

Mark immediately stopped what he was doing. It took him awhile before he could actually respond to what I said.

“What?”

“I said. Let’s get divorce” I said once again.

He stared at me, right through my eyes, maybe looking for an emotion that I’ll show in my face.

Mark clenched one of his fists.

“Are you really asking me that?” He asked. “Right after our wedding anniversary?” Mark asked angrily.

I chuckled.

“Let’s end this here.” I said, “Our marriage is bound to fail anyways. I was stupid enough to allow this marriage to last for three years.”

“I want divorce.” I uttered confidently.

He placed both of his utensils down before standing up but before he could leave. I stopped him.

I blocked his way but stood right in front of him.

“Mark, I know what I’m saying right now. I want divorce, I don’t need anything, I won’t demand alimony, just please divorce me.” I said with a pleading voice.

“No.”

Again, tears started to fall.

“Why won’t you just let me go. “ I yelled angrily. “You don’t even look at me, won’t spare some time with me and I was the only one who is in love with this marriage.”

“Who told you that?”

“What?” I asked confused.

But instead of answering me, he combed his hair with his bare hands frustratingly.

“Just please, give me what I want. Consider this as your wedding anniversary gift.” I desperately said.

Mark shook his head.

“No.”

I cried right on the floor, as he walked away from me.
