Alayna Foxell got married, but the groom was absent throughout the entire wedding.

She was standing in the church. No guests. Even the Father had sighed and left.

Alayna couldn't help but remove her wedding veil and cast it aside. It fell to the ground, symbolizing the shattered hopes and dreams of a bride left waiting at the altar. In an act of defiance, she stepped upon the discarded veil, as if to trample the pain and disappointment that had consumed her.

She was full of humiliation and resentment!

But what could she do about it?

Ever since she was born, her life was constantly being shaped by the decisions of others, including her choice of marriage.

She was married into the Fryatt family solely due to her father's avarice.

Her grandfather was once the driver for Jace Fryatt. Tragically, he lost his life in an accident while attempting to rescue Jace.

The family business had accumulated a substantial amount of debt and was at risk of collapsing. Her father, who was sharp and savvy, realized that asking the Fryatt family for a loan would be a onetime favor. As a result, he came up with a cunning plan and proposed that Jace's grandson, Dominic Fryatt, marry her.

With the wealth of the Fryatt family, a substantial sum for a dowry could be offered.

And he would form a close relationship with the Fryatt family as in-laws.

The Fryatt family, being concerned with their reputation, would find it hard to turn down the proposal.

This marriage proposal greatly upset Dominic, causing him to skip the private family-only wedding ceremony. He also set strict rules, forbidding her from publicly claiming to be his wife.

In this entire situation, no one bothered to ask for her consent.

Her eyes were bright and wide, with curled lashes that quivered slightly, hiding a touch of stubbornness.

As she was at a loss for how to spend her first night as a newlywed, she received a text from a colleague.

Urging her to take on a shift as a favor.

"Good. Work is more important than damn marriage." She said to herself.

She hailed a taxi and headed to the hospital.

Her traditional wedding gown was swapped for a white lab coat.

Suddenly, the door to the duty room was slammed open with a loud bang.

Just as she was about to raise her head, she heard a sharp sound, and the room was plunged into darkness.

Alayna was taken aback and felt a chill run down her spine.

"Who's there..."

Before she could even speak, she was slammed onto the table, sending everything crashing down to the floor in a loud clatter. A sharp knife pressed against her throat as a warning, "Don't say a word!"

In the dim light, all she could make out was the man's bloodied face and piercing gazes fixed on her.

The pungent smell of blood filled her nose, and she realized the man had been injured.

Perhaps due to her profession, she had developed a calm and composed personality in dealing with such situations.

She lightly raised her leg, attempting to attack the man's weak spot. But as soon as she moved, he caught on to her act and firmly clamped down on her restless legs.

"I'm sure I saw him heading in our direction."

The sound of footsteps was approaching the door.

They would open the door immediately upon hearing the noise.

In a moment of desperation, the man lowered his head and kissed her lips.

Alayna pushed away the man, easily breaking free from his embrace. He didn't use the weapon in his hand to harm her.

She was momentarily stunned.

Snapped!

Just then, the doorknob was turned.

With determination in her heart, Alayna lifted her head to kiss the man. She took the initiative by embracing him with her arms around his neck.

Her voice trembled, but she steadied herself and declared, "I can save you."

The man's Adam's apple bobbed as he switched from passive to active in the next moment. His blazing breath whispering in her ear, deep and seductive, "I'll definitely be responsible for you."

No, he got it wrong. She was merely trying to play a part.

At that precise moment when the door was pushed open...

She imitated a humming sound she had seen on TV.

The man was captivated by her restrained yet seductive and alluring gasp.

It also entranced those at the doorway, capturing their hearts and minds with the sound.

"Wow, sneaking around in the hospital for a secret rendezvous, how thrilling."

The door was pushed open, revealing a wide crack that allowed a beam of light from the hallway to slip in. It illuminated Alayna as the man pressed himself against her, blocking the view from the doorway. In the dim light, their bodies were intertwined, overflowing with passion.

"It definitely can't be that motherfucker. Even if he were given an immortal beauty, he wouldn't be able to enjoy it with such severe injuries."

"She's really screaming her lungs out."

"D*mn it, hurry up and go find him, or else we're all going to die!"

There was a rustling sound, and footsteps gradually faded away.

The man knew the group of people had left, but he found that he couldn't control himself, as he was filled with an unprecedented desire for this unfamiliar woman.

Maybe it was the atmosphere, or perhaps it was the overly suggestive posture of the two, but in that moment, the pent-up rebelliousness that Alayna had never dared to express before suddenly erupted.

Her life was controlled by others, and it was a life full of darkness.

She rebelled by indulging herself!

Alayna didn't resist much and went along with the man, surrendering her first time in pain.

...

Afterward, the man lightly kissed her cheek, his deep voice husky with satisfaction. "I'll come to find you," he whispered before quickly leaving the place.

Alayna remained motionless for some time, her waist pressed against the edge of the table, the pain searing through her like flames.

At this moment, the phone that was dangerously close to slipping off the table rang.

She quickly grabbed the phone. On the other end, a panicked voice spoke urgently, "Doctor Gaits, there's been a terrible car accident. The patient is in critical condition and needs immediate attention. Please come to the emergency center right away."

Alayna steadied her voice and responded coolly, "Got it, I'll be there shortly."

She hung up the phone, and her expression froze for several seconds. Just now...

Her disheveled clothing and the sticky feeling on her body told her that what had just happened was not a dream but a real and vivid experience. On her wedding night, she had been with a stranger...

She did the most rebellious thing in her life!

However, now was not the time to think about it. She put on her clothes and rushed to the emergency center.

She worked a long night.

Upon returning to the duty room, it was still a mess.

She seemed to remember the events of last night, and her hands tightened slightly.

"Thanks for covering my shift, Doctor Foxell," Jane Gaits walked over with a smile.

"No problem," Alayna forced a smile.

"You must be tired. You should go back and rest." Jane noticed the mess in the room and raised an eyebrow, "What happened here?"

Alayna turned away, hiding the hint of panic in her eyes. "I knocked it over by accident. Since you're here, I'll head back first."

Jane noticed something strange about Alayna but didn't think much of it. She focused on cleaning up the mess inside the room instead.

However, at that moment, the Dean arrived at the door accompanied by Dominic's assistant, Adam Ford.
