‘KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK’

As Lucy puts her book down and pulls herself from the comfort of her arm chair, and shuffles herself to the front door, it starts knocking again.

‘KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK’

“I’M COMING!” She shouts at the door.

As she’s finally made her way to it, she opens it slightly with the chain on, and only poking her eye and slight of her face through the gap. Not even a hello she’s asked “Are you Lucy, Lucy McCain?”

“Who’s asking”she replies with a stern voice.

“Captain” The man replies.

“Captain..... Does Captain have an actual name?” Now she’s questioning with a concern.

“I was told you could help me find someone!”

Without replying back to her question, she’s started to feel a bit uneasy as she doesn’t have a normal background to other people. She shuts the door on the mans face, whiles his standing outside looking confused, he can hear the chain unlocking and the door opening. “You better come in”.

He nods his head at her and let’s himself in. Looking around at her little apartment where it’s just plain white walls and a little half table in the hallway. He notice that’s it’s very minimal for a young lady who he would expect to have photos hanging on walls or some form or decor. Nuth there’s nothing.

“Living room the first door on your right.”

He turns to look at her, to see this small frame, no more than 5 foot 6 high, long brown hair platted back, average looking woman. He turns back round and goes to the living room, “please, take a seat” a soft voice behind him instructs him.

“Would you like a drink?” Lucy asks politely but in a tone of curiosity.

“No thank you” putting his hand up in gesture.

He sits his self on an armchair opposite to the one Lucy sitting in. With a few moments of silence between them Lucy starts the conversation with a direct question “Who sent you here?”

“I can not tell you who sent me here but I can tell you who I’m looking for” as he makes himself comfortable in the arm chair Whiles his looking around in her living room “you don’t entertain much I see?”.

“Who you looking for?” Lucy refusing to answer him.

Captain looks at her I’m with a slight grin on his face, knowing that Lucy refusing to give up on anything about her to him. He pulls his jacket open and reaches into his inside pocket and pulls about a piece of folded paper and hands it to her.

She takes the paper gently from his hand and unfolds it, to see a name on it. She looks up at him, with a plain looking expression, scrunching the paper in her hand, sitting back in her chair. “How do you know him?” With a stern tone she asks.

“I’m limited to what I can tell you I’m afraid, but all you need to know is I know him very well and I need to find him.”

As Lucy laying back in her chair smiling to her self, neither one willing to give up information. She reply’s in a soft voice “I can’t help you I’m afraid” handing back his bit of paper.

Captain looking at her in disbelief, knowing that she knows something but refusing to help, “you can’t help me or won’t help me?!” As looks sternly at her.

“You want the truth, fine. I won’t help you!” Making it clear she has no intention on giving him any information. “For me to help you and give up information on someone, I need to know your trust worthy and genuine. So until you can either give or prove to me of either one or both, I won’t help you!”

Captain sits in silence for a moment, taking in the rejection by this woman but not showing any form of emotion he lifts himself up for the arm chair. “Thank you for your time Miss McCain” seeing himself to her front door. Lucy follows him to lock up behind him. As he stops half way going out the door, Captain turns around for one last time looking at Lucy. He hands her a business card “when your ready to help, here’s how to contact me” in his deep stern tone voice. She takes the card out of his hand in politeness. “Lucy, I know you was brought up by him and your protecting him and I admirer you for that. But they need him back home now”. Those were the final words from his lips, as once again, he turned around to leave.

Lucy shuts the door behind him, locking the bolts back up. She puts the card on the hallway table, making her way back to her arm chair and book. As she picks it up and tries to read it, she can’t help but think about Captain and to what he said.

No one know about her upbringing, or who brought her up,

But yet, this man who just walked in to her life for no more than 10 minutes seems to know enough about her, and yet she knows very little about him. She lays in bed with the whole thing still playing on her mind, she feels subconsciously that this person isn’t just anyone, to know about her or who he’s after. She pulls her self out of bed and shuffles to the hallway picking the card up from the table, and makes her way back to bed laying down. Grabbing the phone of her bedside, she starts dialling the number, and give it once last thought before ringing him.
