Chapter 1

Gosh! Eva is so annoying that she has to disturb my sleep with her farting. It Is irritating. Damn! I guess I have no other choice than to go to the living room and sleep on the couch.

Sorry my bad! I am Emily Williams, twenty one years old, an orphan. I'm broke at the moment and that's why I'm staying with my friend before I get an apartment.

Time to sleep please; you'll get to know more about me later.

Richard's POV

Oh not again! Like what the hell is wrong with this damn car. It was late this evening that I discovered that I needed some groceries and I'm on my way back from the Mall.

I got out of the car, opened the bonnet of the car and touched the engine. I got back to the car and tried it, finally it worked.

I am Richard Knight, I'm the only child of my parents. An orphan.

I am a fashion designer.

I am not Rich but surviving. I have a best friend, David. I've not found my soulmate yet so yeah I'm single and not searching.

I am 23 years old, humble, calm, not to be proud but I am handsome.

Emily's POV

Next morning

I woke up and went to the bathroom, took my bath and got out. I met Eva on the bed. "Good morning Lily." She said, "Good morning." I replied by going to the mirror and started doing my makeup.

"Lily, don't you think you need to drop your pride and…"

"Please don't even start." I interrupted.

"Ok but can I ask for a favor, please" she asked.

"If that favor involves borrowing my clothes then I'm sorry I can't." I said.

"But you are staying in my house and you are my friend." She said,

"I'll leave soon when I get an apartment." I replied.

Finishing my makeup, I stood up and got into the Closet and put on my dress.

After dressing up, I opened the closet and left the house.

I was going outside when my phone was buzzing, I checked and oh! It's Teddy, one of my boyfriends.

"Hey babe, I'm outside your house" he said.

"Ok I'm coming" I replied.

I got outside and saw his car and got in.

"Hi" I said

"How are you, honey?" he said.

"I'm not fine, Teddy." I replied coldly.

"Why babe? What happened?" He asked.

"Really? You are asking me what happened? Well for starters where is the money I asked for?" I replied.

"Babe I'm sorry, I'll give you the money I was expecting I haven't received."

"Till when? Teddy, when? When will you keep telling me this? You know what. I'm out of here. you are not worth me, everyday you keep repeating the same thing. When you are ready to give me the money you know where to find me." I yelled.

"Lily! Lilly? Please wait babe I'm sorry."

Richard's POV

By the time I got home, I met the landlord outside my apartment.

What is he doing here by this time of the night?

"Good evening Richie" he said.

"Good day sir" I replied.

"How are you doing Richie?" He asked.

"Great sir, and how is the family?" I said.

"They are fine thanks, I came to discuss something with you Richie" he said.

"And what is that sir?" I asked curiously.

"Well, I'm thinking of renovating all the apartments in this compound, and I'm sorry to announce this but you'll have to pack out, I have spoken with the other tenants already so y'all are to leave before on Monday next week I'm sorry." He said.

"Oh!" I said speechlessly.

"Yeah, I'm sorry" he replied and left.

I opened my door and got inside. I threw the groceries I bought from the Mall on the couch and just fell on it.

What am I supposed to do? Where do I go from here? What should I do? Where do I even get the money to get another apartment?

Houses in New York City are expensive. Where do I get the money to rent another apartment? The last money I had was what I used to pay for last month's rent.

It was the money I got from my last customer that I used for the groceries I bought.

Let me call David and see if I can get any help from him.

Though he's also poor like me.

I brought out my phone and dialed his number.

"Hey Dave" I greeted.

"Hey Man what's up with you got a new babe crushing on you" he said.

"Really Dave?" I asked.

"Oh wait! You got heartbroken that your crush is dating someone else" he added.

"Shut the fuck up man" I yelled.

" Sorry! Just kidding but when are you gonna start dating" he laughed.

"None of your business asshole" I scoffed.

Well don't be surprised, that's how we greet each other. I have a weirdo as a best friend.

"So what's up man I know something is bothering you" he said seriously. Weirdo.

"Uh it's my Mr. Frank, my landlord….."

I Said explaining my encounter with the landlord to him.

" Fuck! This is a bad man. This is bad" he said.

"Yeah I know, and I'm confused Man I don't even know what to do" I replied.

"Ok you know the business I was telling you about I got some sales from it and I can lend you some though it's not much, you can come home tomorrow to take it" he said.

"Thanks alot man I really owe you for this" I said gratefully.

"That's what bro do right, it okay I've got to go bye Man and don't think too much about it"

"Yeah thanks a lot Dave bye"

Chapter 2

3 days later

Emily's POV

I got money from my other boyfriend James but the apartment I saw and loved. I spoke with the agents and she said the apartment can only be given to a married couple, who does that! I love the designs of the apartments. Damn! This is frustrating. I don't even know what to do anymore. oh! I've got an idea.

Richard's POV

For the past three days I've been looking for an apartment but the problem is that they are too expensive.

And I don't have that kinda money.

The money Dave lent me I added the money I made from sales to it.

The apartment I saw was less expensive, the agent said it's strictly for married couples and I'm not married, not even planning on getting married.

And tomorrow is the deadline the landlord gave to me.

Urgh damn alarm! I got up and turned it off.

I did my bathroom business and got into the Closet and got out. I got out and started the wheel to start searching for an apartment.

I got back from my search and opened the gate I got inside and met my landlord, Mr Frank standing outside my door.

"Good day sir" I greeted.

"Good evening Richie, I'm sorry but your time is up here is your things I've locked the doors already bye."

I didn't even see it before, he already packed my few belongings out.

Where do I go from here? David is not around, he traveled last week to visit his parents in Chicago and he still isn't back.

I packed my clothes and the few things I had into the car and locked it.

I opened the back seat and lied on it.

I might suffocate here so I opened the glass of the car. But damn these insects.

Emily's POV

I spoke with Clare the agent yesterday and I told her my idea of pleading with the landlord but she said they refused. I mean what is the use of building an apartment for rent to only married couples? And I'm so tired of staying with Eva, one because she's always farting while sleeping and it's so irritating. I'm also tired of sleeping on the couch, stressing my expensive skin, and she's always borrowing my clothes without my consent and not washing them. I don't even know what to do anymore.

Richard's POV

Last night was the worst night of my life. I couldn't sleep because of insects and insecurity. I got out of the car, took my brush and brushed my teeth with one of my table water.

I got back into the car and started the wheel, And started my new business Which is searching for an apartment.

Emily's POV

I was sleeping when my phone buzzing sound woke me up. Fuck! Who the hell is disturbing my beauty sleep this early.

I answered the call without checking who it was.

"Yes?" I said rudely.

"Yo Lily," the person said.

"Who the fuck is this?" I yelled.

"Really babe?" Wait, that voice sounds familiar. oh!

"oh hey Vicky"

"Yeah where are you? Lily is still sleeping? Come on, my boyfriend is hosting a party at his house and he just sent me some cool cash to go shopping before the party starts. Me and the girls are dressed, so are you in or not?" She asked.

"Seriously?! I'm so in. You Know what, just wait for me. I'll be with you in a jiffy." I said jumping off from the bed.
