Birth of A Prince

Third Person

The day felt heavy. Rain and thunder cracked in the Kingdom. A kingdom hidden from the world, and known only as the Bird People. Humans with the most beautiful wings appearing some would say Angelic. They were Swans, beautiful creatures which to some were a myth .

The screams of queen Fah Anurak continued to be heard across the castle. King Tao Anurak paced back and forth outside of his Queens' quarters. Maids continued to walk in and out of the room carrying warm water and helping the Midwife deliver the next Princess or Prince.

"What's taking so long?" King Tao Anurak questioned. Beside him were his six daughters. Anchali who was six, Ahmbon who was five, Aspara who was four, Buppha who was three, Chailai who was two, and baby Dara who was one and being held in the arms of her six—year—old eldest sister Anchali.

The screams of his wife caused a pang in his heart and King Anurak cringed. They had been through this many times before with their daughters having six girls already. Tao thought it was enough, he loved all six of his little girls. Even so, it was Fah that wanted to have a beautiful son.

"You need an heir to your thrown and I want to give him to you." Fah had said to him just before she had gone into labor. Her screams were heard once again and Tao watched his daughters cover their ears and close their eyes. Little Dara began to cry and Anchali tried to calm her down as she began to flap her wings instantly.

"I'll take her." Tao smiled at his friend and General Lord Aaron Amarin. In his arms, he was carrying his two—year—old son Chatri. Chatri was a very cute child with dark hair and naturally tan skin like his father. There was no doubt he would grow up to be just like Lord Amarin. Chatri looks up at the King curiously blinking his eyes before he goes to Dara his fiancé. Because they were so close in age and because King Anurak had always wanted to become family with his closest friend he had arranged for Dara to marry Chatri once they were older. However, each time Chatri looked at Dara he would cry and so would she.

"I guess they don't like each other, very much yet. But in the future, I'm sure it will be love." Fah and Nim, Lord Amarin's wife, had both said. However, just as Chatri went over to Dara, his little girl began to cry again and Chatri himself touched her hair.

"No Chatri! Don't do that!" Anchali scolded which prompted the two—year—old to cry.

"Anchali. He didn't tug. He only touched her hair." King Anurak spoke to his eldest daughter.

"Dara doesn't like him." Anchali snapped fiercely.

Lord Amarin simply chuckled picking Chatri up in his arms again. The two year old flapped his own wings randomly as he cried and tried to settle down. Suddenly there was a cry which interrupted the screams and then both King Tao and Lord Amarin broke into grins.

"She's here," Tao spoke sure that this next child would also be a beautiful little girl. He waited for the maids to come out and the midwife. The old woman smiled at him kindly bowing to him politely before speaking.

"It was hard for her. This child was quite stubborn and refused to come out. He is quite healthy and will be quite strong when he grows up."

"He?" Tao froze upon hearing those words the old woman smiled at him and nodded.

"Yes Sire, He...You have a son." Lord Amarin smiled at the King and congratulated him. Tao could not believe it. After six girls finally, Fah had done it and had given him a son. He could not fathom it.

"Can we go see Mai now?" Anchali questioned tugging at her father's pants. Tao smiled at his daughter taking Dara from her arms and nodding. Anchali, together with the rest of her sister held hands and flew inside.

"It will be great. Congratulations." Lord Amarin spoke. Tao walked in where his wife was resting. She smiled at him though she looked tired and worn from giving birth. In her arms, she held a small baby in a blanket that continued to cry.

"We finally did it." She spoke to him. Tao walked over to her and his son. His son's skin was a white as snow, his cheeks were tinted the softest of pinks and his eyes were big and round. On his back were the most beautiful white wings.

"He's so pretty!" Anchali spoke as she flew above the bed using her wings. her sisters followed suit as did Chatri who flew out of his father's grasp. Queen Fah was startled when Chatri landed on her bed and Lord Amarin quickly apologized, trying to grab Chatri who simply flew out of his way.

"Let him." Fah and Tao both spoke smiling when Chatri reached to touch the small baby in her arms who had been crying.

"It's kay...It's kay...don't cwy." Queen Fah chuckled watching Chatri try to comfort Som Phon who was still crying but quickly began to settle down when Chatri spoke to him.

"I think they like each other." Lord Amarin spoke with a smile

"Should we arrange them to marry instead?" King Tao joked to his friend who chuckled.

"Congratulations Queen Fah, for your son. I will make arrangements an announce the birth of the new Prince...What will you name him?

"Som Phon...our Little blessing..He has brought this kingdom hope...and warmth with his arrival." Fah spoke with a smile. Tao smiled at his wife and looked at her lovingly before turning to Lord Amarin and nodding.

"Come Chatri." Lord Amarin spoke to his son who flew to him and landed in his father's arms. He bowed politely at his King and Queen and Chatri immediately copied him causing the King and Queen to smile. With that, they left and as Tao looked at his newborn son he couldn't help but wonder what life would be like with his son...Som Phon.
