CHAPTER ONE

“Arya what is going on? I don’t under, you said that you were called you were told that you had to rush back home that something happened and this is what happens, are you pregnant or you were just kidding around and let me drive you are not in the right mood to drive yourself right now, let me help you.” Ethan said the moment they got to her car, she was breathing heavily and you could tell that’s he was still angry from the look of things, and the look on her face, it indicated that she was mad, still angry.

“I don’t know Ethan everything is happening so fast and I don’t know what to do, can we talk about this later please, just drive me away from here, I want to relax and think about everything that is going on.” She said as she got into the car and Ethan got into the driver’s seat, turned on the ignition and started the car.

“Where I’m I taking you, or where do you want me to take you?” he asked as he drove out of the compound.

“Take me to your place, I don’t want to go to my place right now.” She said as she buckled up and then did not think it was a bright idea to drive her to his place, he stayed in a studio apartment that was not as fancy as Arya was used to and he was even shamed of telling her.

“I don’t think that is a good idea, I should just drive you home.”

“I want to go to your place, despite it will be good to know your place now that we are a thing or are you still not sure about?” she asked and he shook his head.

“No, not really, that is not the reason, it is just that my place is too small I don’t think you are used to that kind of life, that is why I am hesitating don’t think that I don’t want to take you to my place, I really do.” He said as she drove along the busy highway.

“Then take me what are you waiting for? I know what you are trying to say but I really don’t care, I want to be with you at your place, it doesn’t matter of you are living in an a cabin, a hole or a mansion, I just want to be with you, that is all I am asking please, we’ve had a long fight and I think the best thing to do right now is rest, don’t you think?” she asked and he nodded in agreement.

“Of course, let’s go then, I thought you wouldn’t want to come to my place, it is not that big.” He said and she sighed, she understood where it was coming from but she did not like Ethan because of what he had or what he could offer, earthly things were not important to him, he was.

“Don’t worry about me, I am not interested in your house, Ethan I am interested in you, I am not interested in what you offer but I am interested in your love, it is you I want and not any other so please stop worrying yourself so much about something that is not permanent, we all start from somewhere and I am sure you are not planning to live your whole life in a studio apartment, so don’t feel ashamed of where you live or who you are, that is who you are and nothing or no one should tell you otherwise, now drive me to your place and stop complaining, I know you have so many questions to ask and we can always talk about everything when we are at you place, despite, I am famished right now, I need a good rest, some food and a cold shower, I hope you don’t stay that far right?”

“Of course, it is not far from where we are right now, in fact it is just five minutes from here, and we should be there soon.” He said as he initiated the last corner to the main highway leading to where he stayed, it actually took less than five minutes, he parked the car among other cars, it was a fleet of apartments and he was staying on the tenth floor, he got out of the car and opened the door for Arya, she was fascinated by the environment, it was calm, just how she liked it.

“You don’t have to treat me with that respect like we are at the office, I am not your boss here, I am your soon to be girlfriend God willing.” She said with a smile on her face, she looked beautiful no lie, Ethan could not believe that just a few months into getting the job at the famous re estate company, he was working as the PA or the most beautiful and successful lady who was loved by many and not only that, she had just opened up to him about her feelings for him, to him it was like he was dreaming because the only way he could get to Arya Scarlett Whitlock was through his dreams, he had a huge crush on her he first day but now he was not only seeing her in his dreams, she was with him and that is what mattered to him.

“I am just being a gentle man here and nothing more; I am always a gentleman, if you should know.” He said with a smile.

“Wow, okay, so where do we go from here, I am really tired right now.” She said as he leaned on the car.

“We can take the suitcases with us, just in case you need to change into something and I can carry you if you want, I am still energetic, that is if you feel like you can’t walk.” He said and she shook her head.

“You can’t possibly do that and there is no need for the suitcases, we can always get them later.” She said.

“I can carry you by the way, that is if you say yes.” He said and carried her abruptly as he headed for the elevators.

“Put me down, you don’t have to carry me, I can walk by myself.” She said as she giggled.

‘Too late for that Miss Whitlock, you can always thank me later by the way.” He said as he winked at her and she giggled, Ethan only let go of her once they were in the elevator, he put her down and then pressed his floor, when the elevator dinged on his floor, he carried her and this time she did not resist, he opened the door to his apartment.

“Welcome to my humble home, feel at home.” He said as he put her on the couch and Arya marveled at how neat the house was, it was well organized and she just knew that he was a man who could take care of the house if she was not around, he was capable of making the house feel like home.

“Wow, the place is more neat and well organized than you made it seem like.” She said as she walked around the place.

“I am even surprised that you like this place, it is so small but that is what I can afford right now, do you mind a drink, a glass of water, juice or what should I offer you?” he asked.

“You, I would like to have you.” She said jokingly and Ethan turned to look at her with furrowed brows.

“Excuse me?” He asked and she giggled.

“I was just joking, I would love to have a glass of water, I am thirsty right now and I think that would do now, who is this on the photo? she looks pretty.” She asked as he softly sipped the dust on Ethan’s mom photo, she was smiling and she looked healthy at the moment.

“My late mother, that was a few months before she died, that is the only copy I have that reminds me of the good times and the memories we had before she died, she was a good woman, with a good heart, I miss her daily.” He said as took the photo frame from her hands and admired his mom.

“She was a gem, may her soul rest in eternal peace, she is always here with you know, watching over you, so just make her proud” she said as she sipped her water and then went to seat on the couch across the room, Ethan laced the photo frame back on the table then went to sit with her, he let her rest her head on his laps and he was slowly stroking her hair as they talked.

“You haven’t talked about any of your ex-girlfriend or your current; does that mean you have never dated before?”

“Let us strike a deal, because we both have lots of questions for each other, why don’t you tell me what is going on then I will tell you what happened?”

“That sounds like a great idea, I am in for it, and so you start.”

“It’s ladies first.”

“Urgh… I hate you.” She said and he smiled.

“You go first, I would like to hear you first.” He said and she shrugged.

“It is not like I have a choice anyway, I will go first then don’t bail out on me, you will be the next one.”

“I promise.” He said and she took a deep breath before she began explaining to him what had really happened.
