The colors of the town seem to exist by those who illuminate out great light. The leaves that are on the trees gain their color by a nonexistent perplexity of life. They change. All the colors change. The colors of the sky changes every night and day. But the various colors that shine out on a summer's sunset is different. The reds mixes with the blues to make a cool color of violet and indigo. The dark mixes with the light so easily and fondly that all the stars in the world could not hold a match with the beauty the sunset represents. The earth shines because of the change. But sometimes the change isn't exactly what anyone hopes for and the beauty with the colors fade away...

I stagger along the sidewalk trying not to slip on the ice that is underneath my feet. With every step I take  I bend the knee that is lunging forward and arch my back a smudge.  I keep my frost bitten hands in my coat pockets and put my head up every once in a while to make sure the old gentleman who is in front of me hasn't fallen yet.

I retain  my eyes from closing even though I feel as if they can be frozen together as well. My eyelids are heavier than what I can handle and I rub at them with my right hand. My eyelids could be a lot easier to keep open if I didn't go to bed so late last night either. Although I do have a  job interview today and as a result of my tiredness, I still find myself excited for it.

I have been waiting for this day to come for six months now. Finishing college was the first step. Then getting a job. Then make millions by scamming the whole industry. Then right after that go tell my boss that all the employees were underpaid and say go screw himself or herself. Right after that though I haven't played anything out. Like settling down, raising a family, retiring....let's not get to ahead of ourselves okay.

I put my head up again and hear the familiar diesel sounding car booming loud music beside me. I groan to myself and just keep up with my pace as i ignore the person that is driving along beside me.

"Come on Maddi. Are you actually going through with this?" I hear my roommate's nasally voice. The loudness of his car can't be compared to his voice whatsoever.

I glide through the sidewalk by now since i hit a spot where the salt was actually applied.

"Hey, you shithead, why are you planning on doing this? It's going to not end well. Do you remember when you tried for the one right down the street?!" my roommate bellows out.

I finally stop in my tracks and look at him. All those people who say they want a G.B.F. doesn't know how it feels to actually have a G.B.F. They get underneath your skin wanting to know literally everything what happens to you. They act like they actually care unlike what most guys do.

"My boyfriend, Chris, says that it is unhealthy to try and take risks you know you can't handle!" he adds.

G.B.F.  Gay Best Friend. It could also be mixed up with guy best friend but that's another thing.

I look at him. He has his window rolled down fully and just one hand on the steering wheel as he himself is taking a risk at getting hit by incoming traffic.

"So your boyfriend of the week is trying to give me advice?" i holler back at him putting my hands out of my pockets to make more gestures. I turn back once i see his expression, "that's what i thought. Now if you don't mind I have the interview in t minus fifteen minutes."

He looks at me that I can see from the corner of my eye , "Okay well what are you going to explain Frederick?"

I turn to him again, "Greg you and I both know that I don't give a shit about what my low life stalker thinks. He wants to follow me around," I get closer to his car, "and give me weird feelings that I hate then he should just stick with following you."

"Oh no. You don't just drag me into this. He was your stalker first. I think he is using you or either that he is into both of us," Greg parks the car as I can tell and he looks at me again, "no matter what he'll think you are a bad influence."

I look around and then scrunch up my nose, "Well I don't see the dipshit around and so what? He will think we are a bad influence to him. He'll stop following us and then our hands are empty again."

Greg looks at me with such a big disapproval face, "fine can I just say it's a bad choice and leave it at that? You can get in the car and I'll drive you to the apartment."

I shake my head,"no," I reply blankly. I put my hands in my pockets again and look at him with my pursed lips that will probably be chapped any time soon if I stay outside.

He looks at me, "what do you mean no? As your current best friend I advise you to. And that's that. Get in the car without any words."

  "But-"

Greg interrupts me by putting up his finger, "ahh. I said no words and I meant it young lady."

Greg is my best friend. Well basically my only friend because I had a boring life in college. i did have a good job at the Starbucks. But Starbucks pays nothing for a career.

I reluctantly give in and nod. I circle around slowly to the other side and open the door.

"Next stop home ," he says as he looks ahead in the windshield.

I laugh a little,"Oh no I agreed to just get in the car. You are bringing me to the interview now that I'll probably be late if I tried to walk the rest of the way."

I get in and fasten my seat belt. I take off my hood and look at Greg harshly.

"What is your problem?" I ask him because I see he is trying to hold back something. He literally makes me mad when he gives a look like this. A disapproval face I don't appreciate at all.

He turns toward me fully and then without a pause asks me, "it's just why do you have to get a job? Why can't you just stay in college forever?"

I roll my eyes and notice him groaning. I raise an eyebrow.

"Don't even give me that look Maddi. You know good and well that I have been trying to get a job too-"

I think if I roll my eyes anymore than I would have to get surgical reconstruction.

"Please don't make this all about you Greg. Me getting a job soon shouldn't pertain to you not getting one," I slump in my seat and add, "now can you just drive the damn car to the place already. Stop acting like you're on the man rag, okay."

I look ahead and put my hair out of my face.

I hear him groan again and start the car. He got out of the parking spot and then start to drive to the turning lane.

"I don't know why you have to get this job. I mean out of all the jobs you get and can get you decide on being  a video assistant? Maddi that's no career," Greg moves in line, "I mean not being personal about it or anything, you really think it is the next step to become a producer?"

Greg looks from me to the road and I nod at his words.

"Actually yes I do think it is the best idea Greg. It is the closer than fucking Starbucks," I say and then shake my head, "why can't I do my own thing for once? Huh? You aren't my mother or father and you sure hell ain't my brother."

Greg stops the car since we are finally there, "Okay get out and ace it I guess. But when the producer there flirts with you while you think he likes you, just think there is always a lower and inner man inside each of us. "

Greg puts the car in park which allows the door to unlock. He looks at me again. His lips are pursed more than my own.

"Okay okay. Can we just get passed this? I don't have the job yet," I reply as I open the car door.

He leans forward and kisses my cheek. I rub it off,"Oh come on Greg. Stop getting so sentimental about it. "

Greg smiles finally and then apologizes,"I'm sorry I just can't help it. You are growing up so fast. " he wipes away a fake tear.

And once again my eyes deceive me by  rolling them.

"Good luck. Don't say something I wouldn't say," he says as he puts his hand on my arm.

I look at his hand and take it away. I smirk a little and then put his hand on his lap. With sarcasm I reply back, "Thanks for reminding me but you know me I say a lot of right things."

Greg puts his teeth on his lip and then pulls back as he burst into laughter, "Madtelyn as long as I have known you not once have you said the right thing to an important person. I could go into detail but then again,"he trails off, "you will be late."

I see what he was doing so I unbuckle my seat belt and get out.

"And don't forget to smile!" He yells out of the window as I walk to the building.

I turn around and flick him off. I turn back around and see a guy standing in the window of the studio.
