Riley Scott was the 21 year old daughter of Mason Scott and Tanya Scott, founders of the Scott's Group empire, one of the wealthiest families in Morgan Bay.

She went to live with her mother, she assumed her mothers maiden name, Miller, and lived her life as if she was never a Scott.

　　Her mother was pregnant, and her lover fled when he found out she would be left penniless by her ex husband. He was counting on becoming rich when the divorce settlement went ahead, he scolded Tanya and called her a whore, amoung other things, when he found out she was pregnant and their affair had been exposed, knowing his efforts to seduce this married rich woman were in vain, and he wouldn't end up living the luxurious life he longed to experience. He told Tanya if she chose to have the child, he would never admit to being the father, and he wouldn't help her with money for the child, he then left and never contacted her again.
