It was 1692, east of the Philippine mountains, in a small town called salem. Tap, tap, tap, I woke up that evening before it got dark and got dressed. Tap, tap, tap, who could that be? I wondered.

I looked out my window and saw mr. Tysbourne. I mean down as quietly as I could so we could go.

We ran into the woods with some other children from the village and stopped at a boiling cauldron. "Mrs. Tysbourne, what are we doing tonight? Telling stories?" I asked.

"No, tonight one of the children asked me to do a spell," she answered.

"May I help put herbs in the pot?"

"Of course, go into my bag and grab a herb you like."

I was five and had not been told about witches and spells. I stuck to mrs. Tysbourne like glue as we gathered around and sat by the cauldron. "Alright, say your wishes and put your herbs and things in the pot." She said.

I was the first to stand up. I placed a night lily in the cauldron and saw a girl named Sarah William's come up next. She put infant clothes inside the cauldron.she started singing in words I did not understand. Crack! She stopped. Someone was in the woods.mrs. Tysbourne yelled, "run!" As the other girls scattered, she grabbed my hand,  and we ran the other way.

Later on, I was home, mrs. Tysbourne said, "pixie, I like you, okay, like my own child. Do me a favor will you?"

I agreed to keep her and me a secret.

I got up the next morning thinking it was all a dream. Later that day I found out the truth and that Goody Goody, and Goody Osbourne were in jail. Goody Good was a plump, middle-aged woman who loved helping others. Her husband even said she was a hard worker around the house and supported him well. He then told the townspeople that he, his wife, and their  two children sat down and read from the bible every night before they eat dinner.

Goody Osbourne, on the other hand, was an elderly woman who did not go out much since her husband of forty-six years had passed away last winter. She would just sit in her rocking chair all day and wait for time to pass.

The girls from the previous night, along with Sarah William's, was there. They told the people the woman practiced witchcraft.

I was in. Shock that, when it was safe that night, I went to mrs. Tysbourne to ask for help. But I had to stop behind a work shed when I herd a man talking. As I leaned around the corner, i saw a man in a black cloak talking.  "Mr. tysbourne, you can be free from the white man. Just sign the book."

A few minutes later, she signed the book he was holding. I saw the man looking in my direction, so I had deeper behind the shed.

Mrs. Tysbourne left, and I waited a little longer.

When I saw the man, I asked, "why did mrs. Tysbourne write in that book?"
