Chapter one

I sighed while sitting up on my bed. After taking a deep breath, my senses returned and I could hear my alarm clock blaring furious.

I've never been a morning person and waking up early were my nightmares but what choice did I have then? I've got to. After what happened, everyone was counting on me unknowingly.

I couldn't waste a single minute. There was so much to uncover which means no time to waste sitting and sobbing for the wrongs I've done. It was time to fix them.

I crawled out of my bed miserably as all my body ached.

For the past days, I've been sleeping late trying to find anything to help solve everything but got nothing and instead I would pass out on the couch.

The couch did wonders on me and I don't mean it in a good way.

I walked to the bathroom and checked myself through the mirror.

Dark circles were under my eyes as my golden Green eyes stare sleepyly at the mirror.

My golden blond hair fall messyly around my head and shoulders.

Originally, it's length was just a little below my bust but after the war zone under the pretence of sleep, it now barely touch my shoulders.

My pale skin seriously need serious moisturizering and tanning but that was not my concern as of then. What I needed to do is get ready and start searching.

Just then Lisa hissed awake.

"Morning Lisa." I greeted.

Lisa hissed in reply then caress my cheeks with her head.

Oh I forgot to mention Lisa. She was the only consolation I'd had after everything that happened and at that time, my only friend.

After chuckling cause of the ticklish feeling I got as she caressed my cheek, I stared at myself once again in the mirror.

"I'm a mess." I said. After some thought I rephrased myself, "What I meant was, my hair is a mess and you know what that means..." I thrilled off as I heard Lisa hissed loudly in frustration.

I laughed.

"Know time to waste sweetheart."

After another traumatizing bath for Lisa, I dried my hair with a hairdryer which left Lisa completely pissed.

"Poor Lisa." I chuckled as I cupped her chin with my thumb and index finger.

Lisa hissed loudly and snatched her chin from my grip. It just made me laugh more.

She was the only joy I'd had in my life back then.

We went downstairs for breakfast; Breakfast that was always cereal and milk.

After which, I settled down on the floor and scattered around documents, books and some paperwork I didn't know or understood what they are but thought they might be clue.

I spent hours going through everything but found nothing. It was difficult finding something you don't know but I'd believe that once I saw it, I'll know but unfortunately that wasn't the case and that can explain why it took me so long to discover anything.

After realizing that I was actually doing nothing, I stopped and lied on the floor.

"Lisa, I don't understand anything. What I'm I to do?" I groaned. But no reply came.

I continued,

"I have to find something. At least anything! I've been on this case for a long time now, why can't I find anything?"

Still Lisa did not answer.

"Lisa!" I shouted. "Everyone is counting on me!"

Then I heard Lisa miserable hiss.

Of course, how could I have been so insensitive to my only friend?

If everything gets better then it means she'll have to disappear.

"I'm sorry, Lisa." I apologised then sat up.

"I've been doing this every day and got nothing." I thought out loud.

"I need to do something different." I paused, "or get my mind off things; maybe that'll help."

I took out my phone and scrolled through my notifications and looked for nothing in particular.

I clicked on a random one and found out it was a news report about a bank robbery.

After some minutes I got bored so looked for something else. I scrolled through until one caught my eye.

Some unknown cult burns down a hidden Lab

That was the headline but that wasn't what caught my eye, the cultist had a mark and I would remember that mark forever. I clicked on it.

I got down from my bike then made sure I got the address right.

"Yup. This is it." I said and Lisa hissed in agreement.

I stood before a castle. Although it was burnt and had taken a dark color, you could still tell it's original one. Green.

I talked in. There wasn't any gate but grass and trees where everywhere. Everywhere except the walkway. Forest surrounds the castle.

Although it looks like a typical castle outside, it was definitely a Lab inside.

I walked in cautiously. I went down the hallway, many doors at each side.

The place was huge and was filled with lab equipments. But there was a question that had to be answered, why was this Lab burnt by them?

Just then I heard voices.

'what! Why was anyone here?' I panicked.

Although I have questions to be answered, I wouldn't want to be caught by the wrong people so I dashed into a room by my left.

My breathing was rushed as I prayed I not to be caught. This has been the closet to finding anything for the past weeks now.

After some time I relaxed a bit as I couldn't hear anyone then turned around to see what was in the room.

I got the biggest shock of my life.

In front of me was a head of a woman in a glass tube suspended by was. But that wasn't what's shocking, the woman head was filled with huge snakes staring at me and hissing.

They tried breaking out at the sight of me. Hitting their head on the glass to break it but that never happened.

The attempt made no noise and that could be because the glass was sound proof but it set off an alarm and I froze.

Minutes later I heard the door behind open and people rushed in.

"Eve?" I heard.
