  JOSEON DYNASTY YEAR 1400

A beautiful woman wearing red hanbok was walking back and forth outside the palace. It is evident that she is worried about something by the way her hands are shaking and her lips trembling, uttering quiet prayers in her thin red lips. “Your majesty, I think it is time for you to go inside and take some rest.” said a woman, wearing a hanbok that is not as grand and beautiful as the first one. She is wearing a worried look on her face, in the verge of crying as she looks at the woman, she idolizes the most.

“No, I will wait for Hansung. I will wait for him here until he finally comes back.”

  “B-But Your M—

“Enough now, Lady Boram. I won’t listen to any of your sayings.”

The servant lowered her head. Then all of a sudden, five men wearing warrior clothes, came running towards them, their armors are covered with blood and their faces are full of bruises and cuts. They immediately bowed their heads as they are welcomed by the empress herself. She analyzes everyone who arrived and her brows wrinkled when she didn’t see the one she’s been waiting. “Hansung, where is Hansung? Where is the Emperor?”

The men looked at each other and all of a sudden, they all started crying as they all fell on the ground, kneeling in front of the empress. “Y-Your Majesty… the Emperor…”

“W-What happened? Tell me what happened to him Ryujin, tell me!”

“T-The emperor is already dead… h-he got attacked by the.. by the enemy while he was trying to defend the troops…” said the other man who passed out after saying the line.

All of the people surrounding them got shocked from the news. The empress, whose heart stopped upon hearing the unpleasant news fell to her own feet as tears began flowing from her eyes. Her maid immediately ran towards her to guide her. “Y-Your Majesty!”

“This can’t be.. the emperor can’t die… He’s alive… I know he’s alive…” while her feet still shaking, she manages to stand up with the help of her maid. “I-I have to find him… I have to find Hansung…”

“Your Majesty…” even the maid couldn’t stop crying because of how pitiful the empress looks upon hearing the death of her beloved husband. She brushed the hands of the maid off her and started walking slowly, almost falling on the ground. “I will find him.. I will find Hansung!”

  “Your Majesty!!”

She fell on the ground and passed out.

  PRESENT DAY

  Seoul, South Korea

Everyone began screaming as soon as a tall, handsome man wearing a black tuxedo entered the building. All eyes are on him, he’s the youngest CEO in the city of Seoul. His undeniably gorgeous face and Greek-god like body structure really drive every woman crazy but men envious. Many have said that he looks exactly like an angel who was sent from above but that doesn’t bother him. He always wear a cold face, that’s why his employees tend to get scared and immediately freaks out as soon as his gaze lands on them.

He may be known as the most angelic-looking CEO but also known for his cold, and snobby attitude. He always work, every single time of the day. No breaks, no time for romance. He is so dedicated to his job for his deceased father asked him to succeed their company for him. While his mother, who already found someone new instantly a week after his father died, only cared for him when he is sick, worrying that he might die and no one will provide and giver him money.

“Good Morning Mr. Kim.” The women in the front desk greeted him but as usual, he ignored them as if he didn’t hear anything. He walks towards the elevator with a straight face, lots of bodyguards behind him. “You may now leave.” He said to them before he finally entered the huge black door with the ‘CEO’s Office’ engraved on it.

The men then bowed and left.

As soon as Damon sat on his black swivel chair, his phone rang. She reached for it above the desk and tapped the answer button without glancing at the name of the caller. He already knows who it is anyway. “What do you need?” he asked.

“Oh Damon, my one and only son. Why are you so cold?”

“I’m in the middle of work, so please just call me when—

“Oh, no, no. I just want to invite you.”

Damon furrowed his brows as he started flipping the pages of papers in front of him. “Invite me for what?”

The woman paused for a while, “Jeremy and I are getting married next week.”

  “What?!”

“Dear, please don’t be mad. You know, I’ve been really really sad about the death of your dad but, I can’t just cry for all of my life. I’m not getting any younger anymore so—

“I’m not going to that damn wedding. Goodbye.” Damon said as he threw his phone to the floor. His hands balled into a fist and he looks at the photo of his father on a frame above his desk. They were so happy in the photo, the three of them, they used to be so close with each other. Not until his mom became addicted to casino to the point that she’s already using their money to gamble. His father died because of heart attack when the company almost got bankrupt because of his mom, because of that, he had no choice but to succeed his father and run the company on his own.

Someone knocked on the door and the door went open. “Mr. Kim, Miss Suzy Shin is outside, should I let her in?” asked Kleo, his personal assistant. Damon then heaved a deep sigh as he runs his fingers through his hair. “Let her in.”

“Yes, Sir.” Kleo nodded and stepped outside.

When the door of his office closed, a woman, with curly short blonde hair and big round eyes wearing a white sheath dress just above her knees entered the room and immediately sat on the black couch in front of Damon’s desk. “Good Morning, Mr. Damon.”

“What do you want from me?”

“You.” The woman straightforwardly said, making Damon glared at her. “Suzy, I don’t have time to play with you. If you don’t have any important thing to say then you may now leave my office.”

The woman laughed. “You’re asking me to leave when you already allowed me to go inside. Dam, please go with me at the wedding, please…”

He knew it, his mom asked Suzy to go here just to ask him to go to that wedding because she knows that Damon couldn’t say no to the woman he truly loves. Suzy Shin is Damon’s childhood best friend and the one who’s been there for him when he badly needed someone beside him especially when his dad passed away. “I won’t go there, stop insisting it.”

“Damon, it’s your mom’s wedding. Aren’t you happy for her?”

“Suzy, do you even know that mom only met that man a month ago? And now she’s telling me that they’re already getting married? That’s bullshit!”

“Well, someone could fall in love to a person she just met same as breaking with someone you’ve been with for ten years.”

Damon stood up and tapped his desk forcefully that all the papers started scattering all over it. “My dad just died! How can she be so happy?!”

  “Damon...”

“She doesn’t care about dad, all she thinks about is herself!” he yells, tears starts to fill his eyes but he wipes it immediately. Suzy stood up and hugged him.

  “Sshh… I understand you, Dam… I know it hurts… Sshh..”

They hugged each other for a moment until someone knocked on the door, causing them to move away from each other. “Err..M-Mr. Kim, the CEO of Min Holdings wants to see you.”

“L-Let him in.” said Damon as he fixed his coat. “I’ll be going now.” Said Suzy.

  “Thanks.” Damon replied.

He followed Suzy with his eyes as she leaves the office. He knows how much Suzy cares for him, she also knows how much she loves him and he too, he loves Suzy too even when they were just children. But he can’t confess to her, because he believes that having a romantic relationship with someone would only distract him from his work, and he’s afraid that he might end up being alone too, just like his dad.
