Tonight, the Martin Mansion was decked out in the golden colors.

Everyone was there to celebrate the 70th birthday of the old lady of the Martin family.

"Grandma! Happy birthday and many happy returns of the day!"

"This is our gift to you, Grandma. This is a case of rare tea leaves worth 500 thousand."

"Grandma, I know you're a devout Buddhist. I specially bid for this ancient jade Buddha. It's 700 thousand."

......

Watching her children and grandchildren presenting their gifts one by one, Libby Hudson smiled from ear to ear. The living room was filled with joyful air.

Suddenly, a discordant voice rang out.

"Grandma, Mrs. Miranda Pena from the welfare home is diagnosed with Uremia, and she needs money for treatment. Can you lend me... 1 million?"

As soon as he said that, the luxurious mansion fell into a dead silence.

Everyone turned to the speaker with gazes of disbelief.

"Have you gone mad, Jordan?"

"Although you're a live-in son-in-law, you're still the husband of the oldest grandchild of the Martin family. How dare you be so bold to borrow 1,000,000 from Grandma when you didn't even prepare a gift?"

"That's right. If Grandpa didn't take you in three years ago and let Yasmin marry you, you would probably still begging for scraps on the streets. Now that Grandpa is dead, you dare to be so blatantly ungrateful?"

......

When Old Lady Martin heard the criticism from the crowd, her smile gradually faded, and she glared at Jordan Walker. Smashing the teacup onto the ground, she yelled angrily, "How dare you disrespect me like that, bastard?"

Upon hearing that, everyone was flabbergasted.

Just then, Jordan's wife, Yasmin, stepped forward and pleaded with Lady Martin, "Jordan didn't mean it, Grandma. Please don't take it personally—"

However, before she could finish, Yasmin's cousin, Chloe Martin, sneered, "Your husband is amazing, Yasmin. Thomas and I are only engaged, but he went so far as to buy a jade statue for Grandma. As for your husband, not only did he not bring a gift, but he is even asking Grandma for a loan. Don't you think we would be a laughingstock if word about these gets out?"

"Yes, Jordan. We're both grandson-in-law of the Martin family. But you're pretty disgraceful!" Thomas Owen, Chloe's fiance added. He was also from one of the locally prominent family.

However, when he stared at Jordan scornfully, he would inadvertently glance at Yasmin from time to time.

As a well-known goddess in the entire Ukutala, Yasmin's beauty was on a different level than her cousin Chloe.

Yet, someone as sought-after as her ended up getting married to a good-for-nothing like Jordan. Naturally, this would cause most people to be jealous secretly.

The moment those words were spoken, the Martin Mansion erupted into an uproar.

"How dare this good-for-nothing have the nerve to continue staying here? He's a disgrace!"

"That's right. Kick him out right away!"

"He's not here to borrow money. He's just here to ruin Old Mrs. Martin's mood!"

......

Listening to the insults from everyone around him, Jordan smiled wryly.

After a moment of silence, he begged, "Please, Grandma. I'm begging you. Mrs. Pena's condition is critical. A life is at stake. I beg for you to show her some mercy—"

"If you want to save her, do it with your own money, loser. Why are you borrowing money from Grandma?"

Before Jordan could even finish speaking, Chloe's brother, Braden Martin shouted in a deep voice.

Now that Jordan was slowly becoming the target of public criticism, Yasmin's expression seemed somewhat awkward too.

After a moment of silence, she explained softly, "Jordan lost his father since he was 8, Grandma. Then, Mrs. Pena from the welfare center was the one who took him in. If it wasn't for her, Jordan would probably have been dead a long time ago. All he wants to do right now is to return the favor. Please help him—"

Upon hearing that, Lady Martin pulled a long face and snorted, "It's not a problem for me to help him, but you have to divorce him and marry Trevor. If you agree to that, I will give him 1,000,000 right now!"

When the crowd heard this, everyone burst into murmurs, but it didn't strike them as a surprise at all because everyone knew Trevor Perry, the person that Lady Martin mentioned.

The Perry family was one of the nobles in Ukutala and they were much more impressive than the Martin family. Trevor always had a crush on Yasmin. So, Lady Martin thought she'd take this chance to matchmake Yasmin with Trevor so as to be on good terms with the Perry family.

Just then, the housekeeper ran in and announced respectfully, "Mr. Trevor Perry had someone deliver his gift to you, Old Mrs. Martin. It's an antique jade pendant that's worth three million. Happy birthday and bless you, Old Mrs. Martin!"

Once the housekeeper's voice rang out, everyone was exclaiming at the gift. Lady Martin was also overjoyed.

Immediately, she cried out, "Hurry... hurry up and bring it to me!"

Quickly, the housekeeper handed the jade pendant over to Lady Martin.

In her hands, the jade pendant was crystal clear and completely pure. At first glance, Lady Martin could tell that it was incredibly precious.

With a bright smile on her face, Lady Martin held the jade pendant in her hands and couldn't let go of it.

She then commented, "Oh my. Trevor shouldn't have!"

Saying that, she looked over to Yasmin and asked with a deep voice, "What is your decision?"

Shaking her head, Yasmin answered without hesitation, "I won't divorce Jordan, Grandma."

Upon hearing Yasmin's decisive words, Lady Martin seemed furious as she slammed the table.

Angrily, she yelled, "How dare you trample all over my kind offer? I don't get it. What's so good about this trash husband? And what are you all looking at, guards? Hurry up and toss this good-for-nothing out of here. He's ruining my party and disgusting me!"

Clenching his fists tightly, Jordan didn't refute in the end. Instead, he turned to Yasmin and whispered, "I'll go and check on Mrs. Pena, Yasmin. I'm worried about her being all alone in the hospital."

Yasmin instantly answered, "I'll go with you."

Hearing that, Lady Martin was so angry that her face was ashen. She scolded, "If you dare to leave with this trash right now, I will disown you!"

When Jordan saw how furious Lady Martin was, he shook his head and talked to Yasmin, "It's okay. You should stay here and celebrate Grandma's birthday with her."

Just like that, Jordan turned around and left without looking back.

"How is he a grandson-in-law of the Martin family? He's just a coward!"

Watching him leave, the entire Martin family didn't stop mocking and criticizing him.

......

At the hospital, Jordan tried to negotiate to see if they could allow him a few more days to gather the fees.

However, the nurse told him that Miranda had been sent to the Luantado's best hospital for emergency treatment.

Upon hearing that, Jordan was taken aback and hurriedly asked, "How much would that cost? I have to find a way to gather the money now!"

The nurse answered, "About two million."

Falling into a daze, Jordan muttered to himself, "Two million..."

When the nurse saw Jordan's expression, she mentioned in surprise, "Didn't you already pay 1 million? It's fine if you pay the rest of it within the week."

Jordan was stunned, but he asked incredulously, "A million has been paid? Who paid for it?"

Shaking her head, the nurse replied, "That, I don't know."

Just when Jordan was thinking hard about it, a grey-haired man wearing a suit appeared before him.

Looking up, Jordan saw that the man was incredibly respectful and even bowed to him before addressing, "We finally meet again, Sir!"
