O'Sullivan Manor

August 26th,2019

"C'mon Cherry, hurry down, let's get you enrolled into your new school", Mrs. O'Sullivan voice was heard down the stairs.

"In a minute, mom".

A 15 year old girl could be seen taking a deep shaky breath of nervousness.

''It is always this way even tough I am confident enough to pass the entrance exam'', Cherry groaned and hurriedly wiped her sweaty palms in her kerchief and descended the stairs in a hurry to the living room to see her mother grabbing her purse to put her phone and kerchief into it.

''Here I am, mom", Mrs. Patricia O'Sullivan turned to see her daughter, Cherry in a big top and baggy jean along with her white sneakers. Her chocolate brown hair was tied in a ponytail, revealing her fair neck.

"You sure you wanna wear this to your New high school when you have an enormous collection of floral skirts and dresses you can wear?", Patricia said to her daughter with a raised eyebrow.

Apart from Cherry's weird sense of fashion, she was seriously beautiful, her looks could rival even goddesses from wuxia novels.

What attracted eyes of men the most were her beautiful shaped eyebrows, her perfect jawline and her pointy chin

With such flawless looks, she could leave any man jaw-slacked. This should have made her naturally prideful of her beauty. However, Cherry found this rather troublesome so she always had a mask on her face wherever she went. This made Patricia doubt if her daughter had some sort of psychological disorder that prevent people from seeing her face.

"Mom! Can we leave already, my palms are getting sweaty from the anticipation and nervousness", Cherry said in a defeated tone clearly tired from her mother's nagging attitude. She picked up her mask and wore it.

"Okay fine, we better not keep your dad waiting for long", Patricia said.

Right on cue, a super handsome middle-aged man emerged from the entrance along with a boy who looked around 10 years in his arms. Mr. Ralph O'Sullivan let his son down from his arms. "Pat, what are you guys still standing here for? We've been waiting for years", Ralph said with a gentle tone to the dazed Patricia who immediately woke up from her daze and started putting her phone and other items into her purse so we can leave. Cherry also grabbed her purse containing her phone and a pen to write the entrance examination for admission into Boston High.

"Yeah, we've been waiting for soooo long", Oxford O'Sullivan joined in on the conversation in his childish voice.

This made everyone turn to look at him. The three then looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"Hey, what are you guys laughing about, huh", Oxford, the innocent little boy who didn't know that they were all laughing because of him asked with a cute pout.

They got settled in the family car and began their journey to Boston high, the most popular school well-known for academics.

Entering the school through the main gates, Mrs. Patricia entered first followed by Cherry and Cherry's cousin who had also completed her high school education in the school.

Raising her head to look at the three-floor building with the bold inscription of Boston High on top, Cherry was mesmerized by the school's magnificence.

Looking around the school, she saw a lanky girl in her uniform, a yellow-colored top with a blue skirt. The school's badge was patched to the top which was tucked into the skirt.

Knowing that this outfit was for the Junior High school and she was also going to wear it, Cherry cringed a bit because the skirt looked too long and she hated long skirts.

However, she knew there was nothing she could do so she silently turned her sight away from the outfit of the girl.

Who would have thought that the girl would be in the same class with her and they would become besties forever.

Her doe-like eyes met with the other party's timid eyes on the top floor, the person seemed to be hiding from her. The only thing she could see was the lenses on his face and the black mask on his face covering his nose and mouth. It seemed that all those on the top floor wore masks, feeling happy that she won't be the odd one out. She then saw the girl she saw downstairs on the top floor entering the corner where she saw the nerd with a mask.

'There must probably be a class there', Cherry thought.

Quickly coming back to her senses, she saw her mother conversing with her cousin regarding the admission procedures and the entrance examination.

Catching up to her mother who was near the administrator's office, her mother asked her, "Ready?"

She took in a deep breath and replied, "Ready"

They both entered the office and were greeted by the secretary, Mrs. Neela Gorya, who was actually Thai. Leading Cherry to the examination room, she made Mrs. Patricia sit in the waiting room after giving her the admission slip.

Cherry was not here to witness this as she was already seated in the cubicle allocated to her. Looking around the plain white room given to her with her name written bodly in black on the desk, she inwardly nodded her head in approval of the school's system of writing entrance exams while waiting for the questions to appear on the screen.

She had long been informed about this and as for how the school knew her name, in Boston High, every parent had to first apply for admission online two days before coming to the school for the actual admission after the ward had passed the entrance examinations. It was expected of such a highly recommended school and looking at the advanced technology all around the school including CCTVs and sensors, they truly deserved to be arrogant. One thing she found strange was that the proprietress was anonymous, never revealing herself to the press. Rumors claimed that only the students of this school were privileged to see her. Thinking of the opportunity of seeing the proprietress if she became a student here accompanied with the privilege of enjoying such modern facilities, all traces of anxiousness vanished and she was even more excited. The entrance exam was actually not something she couldn't pass. She was just a little scared that she was going to feel odd in the school. But she was feeling relieved after seeing all the activities of the students. They were very amiable toward each other but you should still decipher that barrier between every student and another.

Everyone did their exams in different cubicles. With their own time allocation according to the difficulty, Cherry had two hours to finish the entrance examinations.

Because she was being admitted directly as a first-year student from the most popular elementary school, the difficulty of her exams was a little above average but who was Cherry O'Sullivan?

The number one student who aced in every subject, so naturally she passed without errors.

After the time limit was reached, she came out of the room after which an examiner immediately entered to mark her papers.

The invigilator guided her out of the hall and she met her mother.

Her mother raised her brows in askance to which she nodded confidently making her mother smile brightly. This little exchange between the mother and daughter was unnoticed.

They were led to the administration where they would hear the results of her examination. Cherry was led by a final year student around the school while her parents were taken to the administrator herself.

In the office.

"Mr. and Mrs. O'Sullivan, I must say that I am indeed surprised by your daughter's level of intelligence. ", the young woman said as she stared down at the results of Cherry's exam. She then handed it over to Mr. O'Sullivan who glanced through and nodded in approval, showing how satisfied he was.

Mrs. O'Sullivan however was more interested in her admission than the entrance exam because she had also written this school's entrance exam when she was her daughter's age but she didn't gain admission even though she excelled in the exam and she never got to find out the reason why.

After a few minutes of silence, the young woman continued, "As you know, this is a school for the elite class children and each student's admission is also based on their social mannerisms. Your daughter Cherry seems to be well-mannered but knows how to maintain her distance, an attitude that is required of a Boston high student. Therefore, she has qualified for the admission. She can start today." The woman's voice was clear and she spoke with a distinct British accent.

"Today? Isn't that too early", Patricia spoke with slightly furrowed eyebrows.

A smile broke on the administrator's face.

"Do not worry, Mrs. O'Sullivan. She won't have to study today. She will be given her school materials including a bag, stationery, her uniform and a locker. She would also be introduced to her classmates and allocated her desk in class. Schools closes at 4pm. You can decide to wait in the parents' lounge till school closes. There's even a playroom for the little boy here. However, you would have to settle the financial procedures for Cherry before moving to the lounge.", she said, standing up with outstretched hand for a handshake.

Cherry's mother was about to protest but was quickly cut by her father.

"Thank you, Miss. Can you please lead us to the finance office?"

"Of course. This way please."

The parents followed suit.

On Cherry's side.

Her tour guide patiently showed her all the important places like the canteen, dining hall, mart, pharmacy, infirmary and assembly hall.

"Since you know all these places, let me take you to the office"

The watch on her hand suddenly beeped.

"Oops. It seems it's time for my class to start. I'm sorry but I can't take you to the office."

"I can find my way back. No need to worry", Cherry's deep voice sounded. It was quite rare for a girl to have such a deep voice so even the senior was slightly startled but she hid it well.

"Thank you, I'll get going then". With that, the senior wore her mask and left, her blonde hair swayed with every quick step she took. she entered the elevator which shocked Cherry. She thought the elevator was for teachers only.

'Why did she have to make us use the stairs if elevators were available to everyone. Was it a test for her? If it was, she hoped she had passed'

These were Cherry's thoughts as she descended the stairs. She arrived at the entrance of the hall where she stood with her parents before they went separate ways. She saw a moving bot that led her to the uniform section. Her uniform was quickly handed to her and she changed into it. The bot gave her a card with her name, ID number, locker number and desk number on it. That was probably her school ID.

All of these were handed to her and her school ID as well, didn't this mean that today is her first day? Cherry smiled at this realization. At this moment, she could care less about her parents. She was officially a Boston High student.

New things were coming her way.

Indeed, new and definitely life-changing events were coming Cherry's way.
