Jasmine POV

I swear,I have the worst best friend on the planet. I mean after everything we went through yesterday she still hasn't called me to check if I was okay and this was mainly her fault.

We went for a party the previous day just because her crush invited her but when I asked her to let us go back, she begged for a few more minutes with him...few minutes turned into hours and when I got home, my mom was so angry that she seized my phone and I didn't even blame her. Who wouldn't be angry when their seventeen years old daughter was sneaking into the house by 4am when she had school the next day.

After much pleading, my mom agreed to let me borrow her phone since she already agreed on not giving me mine. I was going to make my best friend guilty for not calling and yes, I was very manipulative.

"You're the worst friend ever, I didn't even know how we became friends but I'm starting to rethink that decision. After everything I went through for you,you decided to ditch me and not even check on my poor self… I expected better than this." I ranted, not waiting for her to justify herself though I wasn't mad at her,I just wanted her to feel guilty and I made it believable by pretending to shed a few tears.

"And before you say anything,no matter how much pleading you do,it won't change the fact that you're still the worst friend ever." I said, now satisfied with myself and I smiled imagining how guilty she was and how she'll do anything to change the fact that I'm mad at her.

After a few minutes, there was silence as I couldn't hear anything and I began to wonder if I went too far with my plan...but she should know that I was only joking now.

"Grace won't you say anything?" I asked, and this time I heard a chuckle but it wasn't like Grace's voice.

"Your friend is really trying if that's how you talk to her each time you call." The voice said and damn...it was sexy asf.

"Maybe it's her brother,the one I have a crush on," I thought.

"Sorry Tim,I was only trying to prank her." I explained,my voice totally different from the first time I spoke.

"I'm not Tim." The voice said.

"Then who are you? Did you kidnap her? And just so you know,I don't have money. I'm just a broke high school student." I told the unknown caller.

"I should've been the one to call if I kidnapped her or is it different these days?" He asked.

"Better stop playing and give the phone back to my best friend before I…." I trailed off not knowing exactly what I could threaten him with since I couldn't go anywhere.

"Keep going,I love where this is going." He said, though this whole situation was starting to get annoying I couldn't help but think about how amazing his voice sounds.

"Did she have a one night stand?"I asked, lowering my voice in case my mom was within earshot.

"I thought we agreed to wait….she was such a traitor." I thought to myself.

He let out a small chuckle that I really wanted to smack off his face before saying."You really are funny."

"Just answer the question or better still, give her the phone and I promise not to tell her you were rude to me." I was trying to bargain.

After going on and on about giving her the phone and me dishing out a baseless threat,I ended the call as I was tired. I just concluded that she was going to call when she was ready. At least I even tried to check up on her.

Grace and I were the closest friends you'll ever come across,we were practically like sisters and that was because her mom was also close to my mom so it makes it even better.

My mom was already yelling for her phone and I had no choice than to return it since my attempt at pranking my friend backfired and I was being pranked instead but again she was really good.

"I thought you said you wanted to call Grace?" My mom, who was a very petite woman, asked.

"Yes,but she didn't pick, someone else did and he wouldn't give her the phone." I explained.

"Really!" She exclaimed clearly, doubting me.

"I'm serious, mom." I said.

"So why has she been blowing up your phone with calls and messages when you were supposedly on a call with her?" She asked and I stared at her with confusion all over my face.

Without arguing,I checked my phone and true to her words, there were a lot of missed calls and messages from her.

"Then who was I talking to?" I asked myself.

"Care to explain?" My mom asked, but I wasn't paying attention anymore.

I collected the phone from her to check what went wrong and there it was, staring at me. The last number was different, instead of three,I had used two. This is a big mess up.

"I made a mistake with the number." I told my mom when I figured it out myself.

"Not surprising though." She answered, going back to the dough she was kneading gently on the table.

"What do you mean mom?" I asked,in mock horror because this wasn't the first time it's happened that I tried to call people from head instead of just copying the number from my phone.

"Hope you were nice?" She asked but I gulped down the saliva that had gathered in my mouth.

"If threatening someone is considered nice, then I was super nice." I wanted to say.

"Oh no,I know that look and it's not good." That was my mom obviously.

"What look?" I was going to just play dumb and we'll be fine.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about young lady so you'll call that number back and tell him or her that you're sorry and that it was an honest mistake." She commanded and my mom can get scary when she's serious.

"Yes mommy." I said, giving in mainly because I didn't have a choice right now.

"Better, now off you go." She said.

"If only she heard everything I said, she'll go and hide me somewhere safe

I know this was going to be hard, but at least it got me my phone. I wanted to call Grace and tell her what I did but I thought it'd be better if I sought myself out with an apology to whoever the person was.

Here goes nothing….
