When Nurse Abi came in the morning, she went straight to Adelle's room to make sure she was ok. That little girl's recovery had been a miracle.  Just when everyone thought she would die, they saw her return to life to the surprise of many. After administering her medication, she went to see the other patients. Satisfied that they were all ok, she went back to the office. It was a Wednesday but the place was still crowded with a lot of sick people. She usually helps at the consultation department too. After about four hours of being on the same spot, she stood up and walked out. It was already midday so she was exhausted and hungry. Excusing herself she went to the canteen to get some chewable. The only thing she could find was a sandwich. She orders some, with a bottle of fresh natural juice. She collect it, went to a table at the corner of the room, and ate quietly. She was famished so the sandwich was just enough to keep her for that moment. She wanted to rest a little but the heat was too much. Later, she asked for a bottle of chilled water. Thinking that the patients may be waiting for her, she went back to her office. To her greatest dismay, there were just a few people left. She hurriedly consulted them. Among them was a very sick young man, she had to be hospitalized. She prepared his admission file and quickly sent him to one of the empty rooms.

As soon as he left, she was relaxed. She prayed Nurse Mathew came in to replace her so that she could catch up with her program for the day. She had to go to the market to buy foodstuff. Her friend Malia had to arrive in an hour or two. The thought of Malia made her heart skip.

She was a friend like no other. A friend that everyone should have, a special friend who deserves greater treatment on her part. She loved her because her presence made her forget her worries. She was excited to see her. We will paint this town red tonight. She said to herself. She tried to imagine,  what she would wear at night. She tried to remember what she had in her closet. She was greatly disappointed because most of what she had was long. She needed something very sexy. Something short and sleeveless which would make her look smarter and younger. She pictured herself in that and smiled, with that, Malia will surely give me a new guy today. The thought of it made her happy.

Malia is the only friend that sympathized with her situation. Since Tommy's departure, she had been on her neck, asking her to forget about him and to move on with her life. But she had often turned down her request. She had never been completely downcast before, but what Tommy did to her led her not only to depression but to shun men. Though it has been, long, she couldn't still stand the sight of another man. The mere thought of it scared her. That not standing, she was confident that guy or no guy the evening would be funky.

She had put to go and cook lunch since they would eat out in the evening. Where will I take her to,  that will keep her spellbound? she asked herself. Thinking about what she did to her when she visited her family, she was determined to make her stay a memorable one.  I will spoil her too. "Young Men only" will surely be the best place.  I am sure she will like it there because "Young men only", had a mixture of everything, from; Food, drinks, men, boys, and music of all sorts. She must go back and tell the story. Since she loves good wine and music so she will definitely, enjoy the company of wine drinkers. Old times,  reggae, and rock and roll will just be perfect for her too. She told herself.

She was happy that she was off that evening. So she was sure to enjoy herself to the fullest.

She was excited. She waited for a little longer for Nurse Mathew to come. When there was no sign of him, she took her tray and walked out.

She went from room to room administering the afternoon doses to the patients. When she got to the last room on that block, she was relaxed because there was very little to do. The patient was in a coma and so needed only one injection. She was about to mix it when she bit her tongue so hard. Hot sweat came to her face. She had not finished lamenting when she bit it again. This time she felt the taste of blood in her mouth. She was terrified. Biting a tongue was considered a bad omen in her village. She wondered what would happen next. She went to the toilet and spat it out. Then, she cleaned her soiled lips and returned to the room.  She tried to remove it from her mind but it was impossible. The strange feeling that something terrible was about to happen kept her worried. She prayed that nothing happened to anyone related to her.
