Annie, Brad and Ollie were invited to a basketball game with one of Annie’s sponsors. They were in a private area where drinks and food were free and could watch the entire game without disturbances either on the TVs that were all over the room or live.

They had a long day traveling and were very exhausted, but Annie had to be present with that sponsor because she had a big project with them that entire month. They were discussing the plans and listening to Annie’s ideas.

But Annie was a bit absent because she really enjoyed watching basketball. Specially since The Tornadoes was her favorite team.

The director of Fior was talking to her about shooting a commercial for her fragrance but Annie was barely listening.

“Wow, Annie. If I knew you were so much into Basketball I wouldn’t have planned to meet you here. Did you listen to anything I just said?” Jerry said.

“Sorry, what?” Annie answered trying to look away from the court without succeeding.

“Annie, jerry is trying to tell you about the commercial” Ollie interrupted.

Ollie was Annie’s best friend and her caddy. He traveled everywhere with her. They met in college, they were both on the golf teams, male and female. After graduating they decided to stay together and work as a team and Ollie became Annie’s caddy.

“Oh... yeah... that...” Annie said still distracted.

“Okay, Annie... here’s the deal. I will forgive your lack of attention if you agree to a bet.” Jerry said laughing.

Annie finally lost focus on the game and looked at Jerry. “Okay Jerry, you have my full attention.”

“We are playing golf tomorrow. You against me. If I win you will owe me a favor. If you win I will owe you a favor and forgive you for not listening to me.” Jerry explained.

“Jerry, no offense. But I have seen you play... and... well, I am a professional golfer...” Annie joked.

“That’s why I am playing with a partner of my choosing. It will be us against you.”

Annie knew how Jerry was. If she won she could ask him for anything. “Just one more thing. If I am playing by my self, your partner can’t be a professional golfer.”

“Annie, who do you think I am? Of course I’m not playing with a professional golfer. The handicap has to be fair for both of us. And I am a fair man.”

“Then, Jerry... if you are a fair man, it’s a deal” Annie said loudly standing up and raising her beer to reach Jerry’s.

Jerry stood up and his cup joined Annie’s. “Cheers”

Annie walked backwards to her seat ignoring the fact that she felt a bit tipsy, but when she sat down, she did it so enthusiastic that her chair flipped backwards making her fall on her back and spilling all of her beer on her face and clothes.

Brad, who had been sitting quietly on the back started laughing hysterically at the scene. Annie did not understand what just had happened. She stood up as fast as she could ably to see that she was on the big screen in the middle of the arena. Then she looked around and saw that the TVs around her were replaying her fall. Only then she saw the camera guy who was still filming her and waved with a big smile. She then continued to bow to the public and smiled again.

Jerry and Ollie had gotten up to help her but when they realized that she was okay, they started laughing too.

Jerry picked up her chair and Ollie went to get napkins and a cloth to dry Annie’s chair, clothes and face.

After the game, Jerry took Annie, Brad and Ollie to the private apartment complex where Annie had bought a penthouse a year earlier.

Annie said goodnight to Brad and Ollie and went into her room to get ready for bed. She washed her face and brushed her teeth. Then she changed into a short night gown for hot weather since they were at the beach. Finally she walked back to the room with the intention of sleeping, but when she looked at her bed Ollie was already laying down there with a big smile on his face.

“Come on darling. I’ll keep you company tonight.” He said folding the sheets so Annie could get in.

They had slept on the same bed plenty of times. Always without the intention of anything happening between them. After all they were just friends. That was why Annie didn’t even think twice before getting into bed.

“How are you?” Ollie asked in a sweet and caring voice. Annie just looked up at his face. “Oh come on. Do you think I can’t see when you are feeling low? My job literally is to make you feel better.”

“My family was getting home tonight from their vacation trip to Italy and I really wanted to see them before leaving.” Annie admitted. “Now I won’t get to see them until... I don’t know when.”

“They can always come to visit you.”

“Yeah... I guess. Is just that they get really busy and then time flies.” Annie said with disappointment.

  “You have me here.”

  “I always have you here.”

“That’s right girl. You can’t get rid of me. Best friends for ever, right?” Ollie said sliding his arm under Annie’s neck and pulling her close to his chest into a really tight hug. Annie’s eyes started to water and when Ollie realized he kissed her forehead “I know you work very hard. I promise all your work will pay back. But... tell me. Are you nervous for tomorrow?”

“Not really. Who is Jerry going to find to play with him with such little time?”

“Don’t underestimate him. He has his ways of getting what he wants.” Ollie warned her.

“I guess you’re right. But I’m still not nervous.”

“Good.” He said in a lower voice. “It will be fun.”

Annie knew that Ollie was halfway asleep and soon she fell asleep too.
