PROLOGUE

Jacob "Jake" Munroe stared at his father's corpse and felt nothing but relief. "He's dead" he muttered repeatedly in his head. "He's never going to hurt me nor ma again" He muttered to himself. He lifted his eyes to look at his sister, who stood beside him, and he was pretty sure that she was as relieved as him that their father was lying dead. He looked at his father's corpse again and wondered how someone who was so evil and always angry when he was alive could look so calm and at peace. "I hope he rots in hell" he muttered, "Me too" his sister seconded with a smile. "Keep quiet you two" his older brother Cain scolded them which made Leila rolled her eyes.

"Let me have a minute" He heard his mother say as his father's coffin was about to be lowered into the grave dunged for him. Jake watch as his mother wept bitterly for her husband. "How can she love him?" He wondered in his ten years old mind. "Shouldn't she be relieved that he is dead?" He wondered as her cries kept on increasing.

Jake was tempted to walk up to her and shout, "He's never going to hurt you again, he'll never get the chance to say hurtful things to you anymore. He won't be able to lay his filthy hands on you again ma, stop crying for him!" but he kept quiet and watched as his mother rolled on the ground and wailed.

“Get up honey” She cried “You can't leave me now. I'll be good to you” She wept “I'll never make you angry again. I'll do Everything to satisfy you” She wailed in a way that irritated Jake.

"I'm outta here" his sister said with a sigh

"Me too" he said with a sigh of his own

Jake was in his room thinking about how things were going to be for him after his father's death when his mother barged into his room and hit him hard on the face. "You killed your father!" she shouted, "You killed my husband you brat!" she shouted, hitting him harder.

"Stop it ma." His sister begged as she dragged their mother away from him. "You led the cops to him, why?" his mother asked with years rolling down her cheeks, "You took him away from me" she sobbed and Jake watched in horror as she slumped.

His ten-year-old mind was forever bruised. The relief he had felt earlier gradually turned into guilt and then nothingness.
