After a 14 hours of shift in the hospital I finally have the ability now to lay on my bed. Everything on my body were on pain, however it was my choice to resist all of this just to save the lives of the society who were on the verge of dying.

As soon as I entered my room, the darkness of it embraced my entire body. I did not turn on the lights anymore, and instead went to my vanity table and put my bag on the chair in front of it. I sighed heavily and stretched my back while walking towards the huge window of my room, I opened it widely to let the air from outside came inside my room.

I flinched a little when I heard the wrathful sound of thunder. I looked up in the sky and seconds later the rain started to pour.

"I can't remember when was the last time I watched television. Do we have a typhoon?" I said, questioning to myself. From looking on the sky and clouds on how they release the water, my eyes descended on the street. From where I was standing, I saw a man running towards his car while soaking in wet because of the rain.

I immediately furrowed my forehead. Why there is an unknown person here? Not an unknown person, literally. But, I do not know who it was. We do not have any neighbors nearby and I am not expecting someone to be here at this point of time.

I waited that guy enter his car. As soon as he did, he haven't turned on the engine of his car yet. I was wondering what he was doing inside of his car, and what he was doing here in front of our house. I did not notice that car earlier when I got home.

1 minute later, I noticed his bumper lights turned on and I was still stairing at that car until he dissappeared from my sight.

Weird.

I closed the window since the water from the rain were wanting to go inside my room that will definitely create a water here inside. After I closed it, laid on my bed and grabbed my phone. I was just staring at my the screen when it suddenly turned on because someone called.

"Heyy!" I said, greeting genuinely. I even smiled automatically as soon as I answered the phone call.

"Hey, Alice! You free tomorrow?" She asked, it was my childhood-friend, her name is Lindsey. We have been together since in secondary school.

"Yeah. Off-duty day tomorrow. Why you are asking? Do you have plans?" I questioned to her. If Lindsey will call me and will question me if I am free tomorrow, then I knew it already, she loves to see me.

"Really?! Oh my... Yes, I have plans! I want to see you tomorrow. And besides, I do not have work... Oh, gosh. I do have! But in the morning, in the evening I do not have. " Lindsey said. I chuckled a little bit since she sometimes tend to forgot her schedule, however she will realize it eventually.

Lindsey works at the bank.

"So, you want to come over here in the evening? Or we will have dinner outside?" I questioned again, and grabbed my favorite pillow at the upper left part of my head and hugged it as tight as I could.

"Noooo! Let's go to the bar! Damn, I miss bar. " She said, exclaiming. I opened my eyes widely when I heard that we will go to the bar tomorrow. It has been a long time since I stepped my foot in that bar. I am wondering what is the smell of that bar again, the last we have been there was a months ago and it smells like cherry blossom that mixed to the fragrance of different alcohols.

"Sure! I am in, as always. I missed bar, too. Really. " I spoked with an an excitement visible on my tone. I even sat on my bed because of what I have been feeling that moment. Damn, ever since I became a licensed doctor, I slowly losing my ability to drink since I am in charge in operating room.

Yes! I do operate.

"Okayy! Well, I guess see you tomorrow in the evening. For now, go rest and enjoy your sleep. You are definitely a sleep-deprived person. " Lindsey claimed that made me laugh soundly. Well, I have no choice. And this was the right path that I choose to walked.

"This is my choice, Lindsey. I have no regrets. I love saving lives. Maybe, this is really for me. It is okay for me to be a sleep-deprived person but I want that to be the caused of saving lives of others. " I said while forming a sweet and genuine smile on my face.

"Oh... I want to cry. Haha, kidding. I am so proud of you, Alice. Sleep now and we will see each other tomorrow, okay?" She said. I nodded my head slight thinking she will be able to see it. I hanged up the phone and laid myself again on my bed.

I closed my eyes and let the unconsciousness devour me.

I woke up due to the chirping noise of the birds outside of my room. I squinted my eyes and took a look at the window. And I was right, there were a two birds resting on my window pane. Did I close the door last night? I am hundred percent certain that I did. Perhaps my mother decided to open this earlier.

Since, I could not sleep anymore, I decided to stand up from my bed and stretched my body first before I fixed my bed. I grabbed my phone and went towardw my room and walked downstairs.

"Good morning, Alice!" My mom said, greeting me while I was walking towards the kitchen. My dad looked at me while there was a newspaper in front of him, holding it.

"Good morning!" I said, genuinely.

"How's your work in the hospital? Do you take your vitamins properly?" My dad questioned me. I bit my lower lip slightly while grabbing the chair in front of him while there was a chair in between us, I sat down and nodded at him.

"I do, dad. Sometimes... Hehe. You know, I am busy sometimes in the hospital that is why I can't take my vitamins on time. But, I do take them if I have time to do so. " I explained. He will definitely get mad at me if I will tell him that there is a day that I can't take it.

Just like what I have said, too busy to take it.

My dad sighed deeply and continued to read the newspaper. My mom walked towards us, she was from the sink. She tapped my dad shoulder because she felt that my dad somewhat saddens about the fact of not taking my vitamins on time.

"Let her. She is a doctor, she knew what she is doing. And besides, she do take it. Do not worry to much. " My mom said, convincing my dad. I smiled at the both of them and nodded my head.

"Anyway, mom. I will meet Lindsey later. And for sure, with friends too. " I said. My parents both nodded at me, giving me the freedom to do what I want.

"Hey! I am on my way. " I told Lindsey while I was hurriedly walking down the stairs. I did not notice the time since I was watching a movie.

"Okay! We will wait you here. We are near the entrance. Come over quick! There are a lot of handsome guys here, you should not missed this. " She said and hanged up the phone.

When I heard that, I almost wanted to fly towards the bar just to see those guys that this friend of mine have mentioned to me. Those kind of earthlings, I defnitely should not missed them.

Luckily I was, there was no traffic along the way. That is why I arrived at the bar after 5 minutes. I parked my car at the parking lot and almost wanting to run just to go to the entrance door of the bar.

"Hey, Alice?!" I heard a voice of a girl from nowhere. A thin voice of a girl, I looked left and right just to see where that voice came from.

"Over here, Alice!" I squinted my eyes a little bit and looked at my back. I widened my eyes slightly when I saw Kimmy, my guy friend.

I waved my hands at her and smiled widely.

"Long time no see! I missed you. Let's have some quality time together soon!" She shouted. We were somewhat far to each other and she was with her friends too, we have a different circle of friends.

"Sure! I won't disagree with you!" I said, agreeing.

"I'll expect that, okay?! Cheers!" Kimmy shouted again.

"No problem, Kimmy! Cheers!" I replied and waved my hands again while smiling. She did the same and I continued to walk inside the bar. Some of the people here still knew me after a very long time. Of course they would knew me, we have been here since we were in highschool.

We do not visit any other bars, we only trust this one bar.

I sighed deeply while finding my friends in a crowd of people. I was wearing a backless dress with a slit on the side my right leg, and wearing my favorite that Lindsey gave to me.

"Alice! Over here!" It Lindsey's voice. I wandered my eyes and immediately saw her waving her hands on the air. I walked towards them, our other friends was there too.

"Oh my gosh! You're so sexy! Are you really a doctor or a model? It doesn't seem you are a sleep-deprived person, huh?" Lindey complimented my as soon as I met them, I chuckled with her.

"Here, have a drink!" Creia offered me a bottle of beer, I looked at her from head to toe. "You're a grown up already!" I joked at her.

"Well, maybe this is what looks like having a boyfriend. You are motivated to look mature and gorgeous at the same time. " Creia said and laughed. I shook my head because of disbelief.

Speaking of guys...

"Where are the guys that you've mentioned to me? Are they really handsome?" I questioned to Lindsey. When I opened that topic, Lindsey almost wanted to spit the beer on her mouth because she wanted to laugh.

"Wait a minute.... Leo!!" Lindsey shouted. I was wondering if Leo could hear her since the music were to loud and it was mixing with the noise of the people here. 

Leo was the owner of this bar. And our close friend as well.

Leo looked at us and waved his hand while walking towards our location. I smiled at him while drinking my beer.

"Hey, Alice. How are you?" He asked.

"Good as always. How about you?" I said, throwing the question at him.

"Well, good as usual too. You are still pretty even after being a doctor. " He said. I do not if that was really a compliment or not.

I chuckled. "Why? Do you expect me to become ugly because being a doctor is exhausted?" I questioned. Leo shrugged his shoulder at me and I just smiled. I was not offended though.

"Who are those guys? They are handsome. Right, Alice?" Lindsey pointed a group of guys in the middle of the bar while questioning Leo about them. Leo took a glance at them and looked at us back again.

"They are the friends of my friends. They are soldiers. "
