Scarletts P.O.V

You and your mother arrive at a stake house for lunch to meet her boyfriend Kirk and his son Oliver.

Upon walking into the steak house, the hostess leads you to a table where you spot Kirk, and for the first time, Oliver. You stifle a gasp when you lay eyes on Oliver — how chiselers jaw, dark hair cropped short to his head, and dark mesmerising eyes.

"That's his son?" I say in disbelief to mom as we are walking up to the table.

"Yeah. He's home for the summer from college"

Your mother sighs, and places a hand ok your arm, squeezing reassuringly.

"I really hope the two of you get along. Especially since we are officially moving in this weekend. You're going to be seeing a lot of each other"

"Don't worry about me, mom. Everything will be fine" I say trying to reassure mom even tho I don't quite believe what I'm saying.

Us fighting isn't exactly what I had in mind. No. Something equally as sweaty, but more pleasurable than painful

As we arrive at the table, Kirk stands and offers your mother a kiss, while Oliver remains seated. His onyx black eyes pass over me disinterested, and he leans back to grab his drink and buries himself taking a drink.

"Oliver, your being rude. Stand up and greet them properly." Orders Kirk as he nudged Oliver's chair which makes Oliver grunt.

So much for first impressions

You make a first attempt to introduce yourself. You offer Oliver your hand and watch with embarrassment as he doesn't reach to shake it.

A few seconds later, you drop your hand back down to your side and sit quietly in your seat. Your mom and Kirk join you in sitting. You contemplate calling out Oliver ok his bullshit.

As much as I want to match his fucking arrogance, I don't want to piss of my mother so it's probably best I keep my mouth shut.

"You'll have to excuse my son. College made him forget his manners" Kirk says in an apologetic voice.

Oliver snickers, leaning back arrogantly in his chair while crossing his arms.

"Oh I'm sorry. Am I being rude? Probably because I don't want to be here to begin with" Oliver says in a patronising tone.

"If this is how your starting off, I can only imagine what it's going to be like seeing each other twenty—four seven. Get the stick out your ass" I say without thinking.

Your mom gasps and furrows her brows to give you a stern look. She quickly apologises to Kirk for your outburst, who blows it off. You hate how Oliver's lips spread into a wide grin, and he narrows is eyes as if it's fun to provoke you.

Fucking asshole. The image i first had of his is gone and replaced by someone with a head so fucking big it was no wonder he could even get into the restaurant. He obviously doesn't even care for my mother or myself.

"Let me get a few drinks in, and I'll even let you remove it" Oliver fires back my way.

"Oliver knock your shit off, now. Sorry ladies" Kirk snaps at Oliver.

"Oh, don't worry about it. You know how kids are" mom replies with a small smile on her face.

Your phone vibrates in your jeans. You pull it out and lay your eyes on the screen to see that your best friend, Briana text you.

Briana: I miss you hoe!

Scarlett: I miss you too! I'm at dinner at the moment. Meeting my moms boyfriends son. He's an ass.

Briana: Is he a cute ass or an ugly ass?

Scarlett: Does it matter?

Briana: Bitch of course it does. At least he looks good when he's acting like a fucking jerk.

Scarlett: I can't with you. I gotta go though. I'll text you later.

Briana: mmm, maybe take a pic.

Scarlett: Not right now, it'd b too fucking obvious. Ttyl.

You lay your phone on the table just as the waitress returns asking your mother and you what you'd like to drink.

God, he's not the only one who needs a drink. Sucks i have three years unilateralism I'm 21. Why can't this be Europe where i can drink now at the age of 18? Just my fucking luck.

Your mom and Kirk engage in small talk which leaves you and Oliver to sit and stare cat each other awkwardly. He taps his fingers against his glass, before tilting it towards you, silently offering you a drink.

You stare temptingly at the glass, knowing you could sneak some in before your parents had a chance to really notice.

He begins pulling the drink away when you quickly swipe for it. You bring the glass to your mouth and take a swig, gagging slightly on the burning, murky brown liquid as it claws its way down your throat.

That was fucking gross.

You gently push the glass back towards him, stealing a glance at your mom to make sure she isn't watching.

Oh, thank god she didn't see. I hate embarrassing her. She's always held me up on a pedestal.

Oliver smirks, firming his lips contemplatively.

"I have to say I'm impressed with you" Oliver says with a smug grin on his face.

You cross your arms over your chest and meet his gaze with an annoyed expression of your own.

"I think it's pathetic how easily impressed you are. Not a sign of high intelligence" i snap back

"And you just feed into the bait" Oliver says as he chuckles.

Your hands tighten into fists

God, he is so frustrating! A fucking instigator! I could punch him right now...

"What's the matter? Are you upset Daddy's got his attention on someone else?" I says in a mocking voice.

You gesture with a head nod towards Kirk, and grin when Oliver's humorous expression dies down to one of seething anger.

" I could care less. It's not like your mothers there first. She's just another name on a long list" says Oliver.

Your legs shake beneath the table at his words. Knowing he's agitated you; Oliver claims his victory with a smile, and sucks his teeth with his tongue. The waitress returns with you and your mothers drinks and asks if your ready to order . After quickly stating what you want, your eyes find their way back to him.

"I have a use the bathroom." You say excusing yourself from the table.

You rise from your seat and make your way towards the back where a restroom signs with an arrow hangs on the wall.

Nope. I'm not going to be able to do it, that was literally 10 minutes of interacting and I already cant faking stand him! I'm an only child for a reason.

I don't even want to introduce any of my friends to him. Not acknowledging him at all would be perfect.

After using the bathroom, you exit to find Oliver coming your way.

Maybe he needs a reality check on how to communicate with people? Smart enough for college but too dumb for interaction.

You step aside, pressing no yourself against the wall so he can pass. Instead, he turns so he's mere centimetres from your face.

"God, You amp it so easy" he says as he reaches for a lose strand of your hair, and your breath gets caught in your throat.

"W—what are you doing?" I ask.
